How to ero mag

(Eroge(92)
Fri 2008/11/28 13:00
Itai News have covered a news item about how the "Sandwich" method of buying ero mags is old hat and that there is a new method - the "ask for a receipt" method.

The Sandwich method is where one buys ero mags and sandwiches it in between other mags such as a business or fashion mag, This has two effects:-
1. Make out that one is a man of society and also reads trendy or educational mags thus reducing embarrassment.
2. Having the ero mag sandwiched below another mag also reduces embarrassment at the counter.

The asking for a receipt thing is common in Japanese society when one wants to declare their expenses for the company that they work at. Asking for a receipt means that 'its not for me and am buying for my company' so one does not have to feel embarrassment.

How do or did you buy your ero mags? I remember when I was a wee lad who was conscious about my health - I would have to reach up to the top shelf to pick up a playboy - very embarrassing.
We also had the Sun newspaper which had a nice girlie showing her bare eyes every day on page 3. I really liked Ruby Finnegan > http://vintage-erotica-forum.com/showthread.php?p=154152 - still remember these pics!
Growing up n an age without the Internets was tough.

These days I do pick up eroge mags as its required in the line of work that I do but don't feel embarrassed in anyway. Some of the images on the cover are a bit OTT sometimes though as you can see - this pic from the Japanese Magazines article.

Yeah, me too! XD
Just in the form of ecchi anime DVDs and .wmvs. I never really liked the "real" thing, I just can't never see through the end of it... Just give me H inserted with a good story and I can deal with that.

Ironically, ero-magazines are not available in Los Angeles. I'm surprised Kinokuniya Bookstores doesn't stock any at all.

I'm not surprised. Some of those ero-mags, seen by "regular people" (as in non anime/manga connoisseurs) can look like pedo material. Of course they are not all like that but some people just get the wrong idea.

At least we get away with G's Festival when they include limited edition oppai mousepads, Dakimakura and sometimes include nudity in the reviews inside but NEVER will you see an issue of 'Bug Bug' in stock. None of the magazines above will ever make it to Kinokuniya Bookstore in L.A.

The closest thing to getting Ero-magazines in Los Angeles would be online at J-List but then again i don't do online orders much.

You were able to get 3D Japanese porn at one point but Kamekaze Anime went out of business recently. And i learned about the adult section a few weeks before they closed down when i bought my flip top and Swap Magic software for my PS2 slim.

It's not just Kinokuniya, but also at Asahiya Bookstores in Santa Monica.

Then again, I am more into Shonen Ace and Comptiq. So I can only guess they stick with more mainstream stuff.

The only time I bought an adult mag, was about the time I was 18 or 19. Walked into a gas station and realized I never bought one so at the counter I was just like "get me a playboy" and the the clerk was like, we don't have anymore, so then I said "well then, how about a penthouse".

I am very nonchalant about this kind of stuff and don't really get embarrassed over it, so long as family is not involved (the parents and grandparents type).

However that has been the only time I purchased adult materials in a store (and I am now 27 btw).

When I was underage I saw this imported hentai magazine. Asked my female cousin to buy it for me.

When I got old enough and had some sense in me, I would feel embarrassed to buy anything ecchi or just plain sexy (be them mags or books). But since I'm a lazy person I thought "screw it" and just started buying what I needed. Got a lot of weird looks but I don't care anymore.

dont have ero mag in m'sia
but when i was visiting Japan, at a sun story (forgot name of store), i just took a mag and walk up straight to the counter and pay for it with a big smile on my face.
the cute girl behind the counter looked and me for a bit and scanned the mag. so i guess it went well.
i did the same thing every night for 4 days with the same girl at the counter.

Haha. I remember buying the 'Daily Sport' when I was about 17. It's a newspaper in the UK basically full of semi-naked women and sports pictures. I was practically blushing walking up to the counter, and then the shopkeeper called out in a booming voice "Oi Oi! Sporty Sporty!".

Argh, that was embarrassing. I hid the newspaper under my jacket all the way home ^^;

Eh. When I buy stuff like that, I usually just go up to the counter and pay for it. This can be pretty fun if the salesperson suddenly acts all embarassed.

This deserves the 'is ecchi' tag, though.

on my first trip to japan, i bought quite a few ero mags, prob over a 100 bucks, i was young.
anyway, a friend and i were at seven eleven and he wanted a porn mag, but he was too scared to buy it, kinda embarrassing as i was almost checked out by a lady. on the flight home the bag with all my mags was randomly searched, they left a note that they searched the bag, and all the mags were not in the order i left them in, im just glad they dont search the bags in front of the passengers, that would have been interesting. in the end, when i got back to the states i gave all the ero mags to friends, and two DVDs, well over a 100 bucks of stuff.

While I don't own any Ero-magazines from anime. Some of the artbooks I own have alot of full page very nice not-clothed artwork. My School Days/Summer Days one was particularly racy.

For adult magazines, I have only bought adult magazines a few times at the gas station.  I just buy a few other items to take the focus off the mag.  Some Shiner Bock, some Doritos, payment on pump 2, and...this too. ^_^;

I'm past the feeling of embarrassment. When people look, I'm like, with one look at them, "what's it to you?"

My sauce is mostly the Interwebs.

But their are times that I buy magazines like FHM, Playboy and Maxim (on very rare occasions though). I just buy the thing without a care in the world. It shows that I am a MAN! XD

It's not embarrassment really.

More of fear that my family will think am sick or something.

Either way the Internet is full of eroge stuff. So..I guess I don't need to buy ero magazines

I don't have any Ero magazines in my collection...but when I buy questionable Doujinshi, I buy a couple of G-rated Gag Doujin so I'll have something to show when explain why I paid so much for "two" books, lol. ^^;

From time to time I buy TechGian, a galge mag.
I only keep interesting posters, reviews or interviews and throw the rest. My space is fairly limited...

I'm not that overly conscious about buying ero magazines. I don't think it's that big a deal unless you make it one.

New Age... Barely any need to go out and get a hard copy nowadays with it being so prominent online, so I have never had this problem, but it does sound really embarrassing.

Having said that, I remember a case in the company where I work where non-Japanese management needed some staff to go out and buy a load of porn movies on UMD for PSP. So obviously they asked the Japanese staff to do it, and the staff were very embarrassed.

Damn it, I never see those Bug Bug magazines scanned, maybe except for the first few issues years back. =(

The cover art for all of them are incredibly gorgeous. Anyone know who's the artist behind them?
