Hillary and Ero
If you vote Hillary then you may have a tough time getting hold of imported ero stuff because she promises to get rid of violence and sex in video games which could lead to cracking down on anime fan service and cast off figures?

Jack Thompson (Everyone knows who he is, right?) will vote for her, it's certain.
I don't know, I don't care about politics anymore (Lost faith in it) and threats never much helped in changing a population's life conditions, so if it's talking about the long run.

So, um... Democrats, Republicans... *Shrugs and snoozes*

No, no, DRAGUN, I was simply stating what Americans have to go through every four years for the presidential elections, but also the fact that politics are quite the same everywhere... all about crazy promises. ^^

@D_Blade, "crazy promises"?... we just call them "lies" here. Im seriously wishing Ron Paul would win the Republican Nomination.. but it probably wont happen. Things wont change, people are just too much like sheep to notice what is going on. I agree though, Im soooo tired of the B.S. with politics.

However it's always nice to see candidates who don't have grey hair... yet.

And that's why i choose the laser.

Ban inappropriate video games and stuff? For the love of God, it's the parents who buy 'em for their children in the first place. So many young sore losers on Halo 2/3 XBL... And inappropriate videos? Obviously she'd never acccessed Yahoo/Google with Safesearch off.

I totally agree.
Parents don't want to spend time teaching their kids or watching them so they expect the companies to only put out products that meet their image.
Unfortunately we're the ones that suffer because it means we can't always have the products we want.
I can still buy anything since I'm over 18, but the companies might think twice in the future about making certain products because of irresponsible parents.
Let's hope anime figures never become mainstream, otherwise you know someone would complain and try to ban those too.

since the getting rid of violence and sex in video games will mainly affect children and teenagers who are not old enough to vote.

1% of 100% she'd live up to her promises. Politics are not known for being very truthful. And besides, if the law does get to ero stuff, she's limited in terms of power. I'm pretty sure the average, non-anime-fan kid out on the streets does't buy full cast-off and eroge with no plot other than the train perversion theme. If she'd spend more time researching on the nation aren't there more pressing issues?

1. There is no way in hell she can possibly win the election because a huge chunk of Americans believes she is a spy for the Chinese shadow government run by a reptiloid clone of Mao Zedong.
2. If she said she'd do it, it would never happen anyways.

Excuse me, but this doesn't really mean she will "ban ero stuff".
You don't have to ban ero stuff to protect children from it... you only need to enforce rating systems and promote them as an effective tool against violence and sexual content from children.

Also, I'm pretty shure all candidates are for this. Or are we to think Obama is for violence and sexual content for children? Don't think so.

This point is absolutely valid, but the fact that candidates have to raise the issue at all is glossing over the root of the problem: piss-poor parenting.
Voters just don't want to have to accept responsibility for raising their kids. The one singular message that props up the campaign speeches of almost every politician, past and present, is "You may potentially vote for me, so nothing is ever YOUR fault."
That's what's wrong with this sort of grandstanding; not what they're saying, but what they refuse to say.

@Vic Fieger (to keep on with your reasoning): "It's only your fault as soon as I'm elected. It is natural I want to bring profound change, but opposition parties and the population are too stubborn to make any effort".
Yeah, right. How many times has it happened? Most always.
It's the same trap we repeatedly fall in, regardless of culture. -_-

I completely agree with what you said Vic... the main problem with children watching and playing stuff they shouldn't is from poor parenting. Unfortunately, today's society isn't exactly easy on parenting also...

But still on topic, I don't think the sentence cited by Danny automatically translates into banning violent and ero games.

This might (or might not) be a misinterpretation (sp?).

I'd known for shure if she said something like "I support Jack Thompson and think violent games should be banned".

Protecting the children from it is something else... and I might be mistaken, but I think all candidates are for protecting the children from violent games. And so am I.

The real question is: how?

Yeah, they should step up and say this is mainly the parents fault. But no candidates said this so far, and I think none of them will... delicate issue.

The thing is, society as a whole must start using rating systems and say no to children when the content is not appropriate.

I mean, c'mon, we have other cultures that serves as examples. Japan is a prime example. So much ero stuff that can be confused with children stuff... and for those who watched some japanese movies... there's enough weirdness and violence there to fill stacks of hollywood movies.
:P
It's a cultural thing.

Anyways, it's a polemic issue. I'd be glad if candidates say more about this... what actions they have in mind, if they have some concrete plans to direct the issue.

But I don't wanna make early judgements based on a sentence only.

But here I am yapping about an election from another country which I'll not even be part of. :P Old habits...

Well, XsportSeeker, the US are not exempt of faults in terms of confusing material not destined to kids...
Essentially cynic stuff from MTV (especially Happy Tree Friends), South Park, The Simpsons (in an extent), etc.
I hesitate to put toons in the same sack but hey. ^^

Anyway, I've always been thinking that if people are not competent to be parents or of the caring type, they really shouldn't be. How many times have I heard (even in my dear remote family of my father's side) "If I had to choose again, I wouldn't have kids, too bothersome".
The worse is to put too heavy expectations on infants without giving them needed affection or the right type of freedom and get delinquents in return.
And no, it's not about a naive vision of good or bad seeds, it's about education, influence and investment. To raise kids is a heavy, long-term task that I don't really want to try yet. ^^;

She has been backing Jack Thompson and the Womens-FamilyAOA forever, where do you think they get their funding from. It's how politicians get a "track record." They don't actually do anything, but they fund people who do things that go along with their ideas, then when an issue comes up they can say "we have been fighting this issue for a long time."

She is evil folks. More then the others I don't know, but she's definitely e-v-i-l.

If worse comes to worse, just come up north. It would seem anything is legal here (piracy is grey, gay marriage is legal, experimentation on fetuses etc etc.). I'm surprised Canada hasn't fallen in an uproar.
