Gmail Video Chat

Gmail now supports video chat - more details here and video below.

Do any of you use any form of video chat/conferencing like Skype? Wanted to set up something so that members can join some sort of chat room and be able to see each other at the same time.

I just noticed that feature today too ^^! Okay I do use webcam once in a while cos my family are overseas ^^; but haven't done so for a while cos my mom is quite busy and not super tech savy as a sis of mine (Who moved out).

I webcamed with my hubs before we started officially "dating" lol. I recalled we actually did some facial mask application while webcaming and boy it was hard not to laugh and crack the mask! ^^; Recently (maybe 1 month plus ago?) one of my co-workers overseas and me used oovoo.com to do a meeting ^^ too bad it was kinda choppy (bad internet)

Got a webcam and it's quite old...
We occasionally use it to webcam with relatives overseas. It will be a good feature to implement, but I doubt I'll use it.

I have an iSight built into my iMac. I don't really use it though.
It's about time they added that. Hopefully now my webcam will be of some use, though I highly doubt it.

good ol days with the webcam. I remember when i was talking to my cousin via webcam when she suddenly undresses down to a swimsuit O.O! Turns out she said to turn my webcam off as she wants to show it off to her best friend but i didn't notice her message until it's too late... ^^;

Been using Skype for 3-4 years. Use it all the time at work and with friends in FPS games, and the video conferencing is unbeatable.
Google's going up against Skype with their new video chat feature like this. Though, it makes Firefox crash when I try to configure my webcam. xD
And still no updates for Gtalk clien ;_;

I have an old crappy webcam, but I use it with a very nice XLR microphone so it has great sound. Frame rate on the camera is pretty solid too.

I have Skype, gtalk, and use stickam on occasion. I hate stickam, it's very prone to messing up in various ways. Have to admit when it's working it's pretty impressive. Lots of people are allowed to chat but only 8 cameras are allowed at the same time. Oh and it's web/flash-based which is probably why it fails half the time.

Now that she's gone though, I don't use it much at all. ^^; Looking around the desk though, it seems my brother ran off to shake his money maker or something, so... I might have to buy a new webcam if I deem the one I've already got to be...unclean by the time I get it back... =_=

I use video chat all the time, as I live on the east coast of Australia, and all my family on the west coast.

I love GTalk, but why don't Google integrate video chat into GTalk? I never use the browser for Gmail - I route it to my email client of choice instead (Thunderbird).

Well, I have a webcam, but rarely use... and when I do it's not for video chat. :P
I guess it's because I find it more confortable to chat by text... you don't feel obliged to answer promptly, and stuff like that.

But I know there are times that a video chat is better...
I'd certainly use it more if my mom knew how to deal with it... XD Unfortunately she's kinda tech-blind... :P
