Itai News has pointed out the most edited entries in Wikipedia Japan are for anime... English Wikipedia 1. George W Bush 2. Wikipedia 3. America 4. Christ 5. 2006 Israel Lebanon war French Wikipedia 1. Events in 2005 2. Events in 2004 3. Algeria 4. France 5. Wikipedia Japan Wikipedia 1. One Piece (characters) 2. Mai Hime 3. One Piece 4. Bleach 5.Gintama Looks like the Japanese really care about anime. Unrelated Platonic Heart image from Moe Imouto.
lol on English Wikipedia, do Americans really care that much about George W Bush?
I think it's more like bored people vandalizing the page LOL
HAHA. I bet you are right.
Yeah I dont think americans care too much about bush to even add anything in that would remotely be considered nice. lol he, I believe, is the most hated president ever. O_o
i love bush he makes some good laws! he is better than obama! ^_^ obama needs to pass some of that so called stimulus to me! LOL ^_^
I just think it's a never ending contest of who can change it the most between the people who hate him and the people who love him and the people who actually try to make it correct.
Clearly you've never met a republican... They can be a rather... enthusiastic lot...
The liberals are just the same way though. It's hilarious to watch them both from an outside perspective. Meanwhile, I build up my revolution force to take over the government and start a new... My administration will have cookies.
politics on wiki will always be too hot a topic
lol, and i never like when they start to flames, that's why i stay away from those topics
I second that XD Coco's comment gave me a laugh though, still laughing as I type XD And I'm really amazed that the Japanese really do care with Anime facts.
Dubya's old meme, guys. Just putting that out there. I'm surprised that Obama's not on there. "Looks like the Japanese really care about anime." Especially One Piece characters!
It's a contest to express how awful he was as President. Especially true for many people I know and voted for him twice... ^^;
i personally never like him look like a idiot
it's basically he did this and then someone else goes no he didn't then someone fixxes a slight mistake and etc.. all the small edits count as well i think.
Ahah...that's hilarious! And not just one, but all five spots! Interesting how two of 'em are One Piece, and even more so is Mai-HiME - I don't think it was all that popular. I suspect that it's actually some sort of editing war between two people who are can't agree. Can't explain it otherwise.
What would we do without japanese people?? Uh?? Thanks to them we have the entries in Wikipedia Japan... ^_^
lol. English Wikipedia should make new one on Obama ^^; well, one of the reason why Japanese so care about anime cuz its one of the media to deliver / introduce their culture to the rest of the world perharps XD
It could be that there's a lot of hate for one piece too, no?
IIRC One Piece usually places at the top for polls on favorite manga. Maybe fans are just obsessive.
One Piece is actually rather well liked in Japan...it's kind of this decades Dragon Ball... ^^;
Wow Mai Hime is #2? I really have to finish that now ^^; Same with One Piece... jeez way more popular than Bleach or Naruto! Such an opposite compared to here.
You must finish it! It was the first series I've finished, after that you should go onto Mai Otome, Mai Otome Zwei, and Mai Otome 0 S.ifr
Aye, got a long ways to go XD
Mai-HiME was the second one I finished. :P Mai-HiME was excellent (except for that last ep), Mai-Otome was good, Zwei was okay, and 0 S.ifr is disappointing.
i need to level my otaku powers... haven't seen/read any of those 5 ^^;;; (though i do tend to stay away from the longer series 'cuz they're such time sinks ^^;;)
Mai Hime as #2? I thought the fandom for that passed ages ago. Maybe there's some hikikomori's doing edit wars between the different versions of manga, game, and anime...
If the English Wikipedia results really show the American usage of this site, I cannot help but smile that so many contact Wikipedia to update entries about ... Wikipedia! Isn't that a bit like buying a book without pictures or diagrams called 'How to read'? It would be interesting to discover the more popular searches for each country, rather than just the edited pages.
Hmmm… interesting that Jerry Lewis is not in the French top 5 ;-)
hahaha~ funny results
Nice; would've been surprised too if there wasn't any anime on that list ^^
I saw that typo Danny :3 Japapan now is it? I'm actually not too surprised that Anime is in the top 5 most edited things in wiki-japan. So that English wiki stats are from all English countries? Now that would be surprising...
lol, its like nipponpon (code geass MAD... soooo funny xD)
completely off topic but... Is anybody subbing Platonic heart?
if they are, please tell me! D: i dunno if any group is subbing at the moment though...
It would be good to keep in mind that the Japanese wiki is substantially smaller than the US one (even smaller than the French one) and likely is more used by a different demographic, but yeah =D
I didn't expected that MyHime would top off the charts ^w^ (although I'm a fan of it .. Natsuki pantsu <3)
Yay for Platonic Heart!^^
Nice Platonic Heart image ^_^. And LOL @ Wikipedia most edited page by region. Nice statistics.
Interesting to see French and English are all about religious and social science type stuff, meanwhile Japan is all about the animation. Go fuuun stuff !
LOL That's why I love Japan!
i couldn't agree anymore. love japan forever! such a great country with its culture and anime
haha, so true. ^^
Hm, I'd thought Naruto would be somewhere in there since it's like the big three of long running series and wasn't expecting Mai-Hime...
Pretty funny considering the NA version of the wikipedia entry for Mai Hime is not complete that means some fansubbers are not on the ball
Thats Interesting!I usually use the english wikipedia when i need infos on Anime/Manga I wonder wich were the most edited german articles...Where can i look those stats up?
hoo, onepiece sure is popular^^; but mai-hime?wew,didnt hope it to be on the list
LOL that reminds me one thing, Japan is known for describing (almost) everything using pictures like using manga elements in all sorts of manuals but why oh why almost all japanese wiki entries are text only... ?
I agree completely with the Japanese Wikipedia... those things are way more interesting.
Haha wow. You have to love Japan... Though for Europe, why only France?
Why only France? Well, obviously, because only France matters. :P I'm pretty sure I've never visited any of the entries mentioned, though. It's somewhat shocking to see neither Gundam nor Haruhi (both of which I have looked up in the past)...
Anime Daisuki! Anime Saigo! Anime Banzai!
There's much information warfare in Wikipedia's entry for "2006 Israel Lebanon war" (discussions often turned into a heap of self-righteous garbage by either side). I'm not surprised that it's one of the most heavily-edited Wiki entry.
wait a sec, no gundam? fail! either way i am surprised Apple didn't make that list, would've thought it was a "wordwide phenomenal"..
anime has already fully integrated itself into japanese culture with its unique, very very unique style. sure a lot of non-japs might start wailing and flaming an episode or series that didn't go the way they like, but its not like they've got their own local anime-wannabe crap to flame.
Don't know if that's good or bad. Definitely anime is more interesting than George W Bush ever will be ^^
Will One Piece never end?
Yea... How close are they to actually acquiring the One Piece treasure? ^^;
I would say One Piece has passed the halfway mark, now its the 2nd half of the adventure.
It'd be interesting to know the real reasons behind all the editing... and how many people actually made those edits. But interesting numbers anyways... I'd like to know Brazil's numbers. Probably something political, and maybe something related to sex, carnival, or soccer.
I suppose it goes to show that Otaku rain supreme on the internet!
lol. how do we see the other countries statistics? must search google.
English Wikipedia 1. George W Bush 2. Wikipedia 3. America 4. Christ 5. 2006 Israel Lebanon war I'm British and I've never looked up any of those things ever XD.
Same, and I second that lol. Probs just the americans... 100th comment Yatta! >_< When some people think of Japan they think, Robots and Anime.
That's just how they do things... IN AMERICA.
At least on the English and the French wikipedia, those stats have not been updated since december 2006. (updates are disabled)
What is wikipedia doing in Fench's wikipedia? French search for wiki in wiki?
what noob they are, i'm ashamed of it... i sware i just look for anime title!
Oh, all top five is anime related? Way to go, Japan!
ahahaha...Mai Hime at #2, no naruto nor gundam ^^ all hail yuri !!
Next year, Haruhi will enter the top 5.. I'm pretty sure of it ^^;
heh, it should already be there xD well, if disappearance comes out, its definitely going up on that list cept that disappearance disappeared D:
That's how it should be... all about anime.
one piece!! no. 1..no doubt about it!!:D... japanese care about anime? hmmm...mochiron!! they have to care..its one of their way to conquer the world of entertainment...:D
i lol when i see the statistic.. english wikipedia -> politic etc most edited.. french wikipedia -> events & country.. japan wikipedia -> none of the above...
Oh, Japan. <3
lol! i love japan!
i think nothing in japan is impossible
The Platonic heart characters are most delicious. I watched the first episode of Gintama yesterday.... bored oot of my mind!!(HIMYM ref for Barney fans! lol)
I don't know if I should smile or not XD
Lol cool. I wonder what do they edit everytime.. New character details?
yea..mai-hime sound really out of place there, that when you have so many other series with so much material to be discussed. can someone check the result for spanish wikipedia lol! :D
I think it speaks far more to the age demographics of wikipedia users rather than the interests of the nation as a whole ;)
I loled when I saw the english entries. Do they care about Christ that much?
There's lot of war going on in America about religion. Atheists versus theists Evolution supporters versus creationists (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/creationism) Bible Code (http://skepdic.com/bibcode.html) Judgment Day/Apocalypse It's mostly because of political power; Christians have more power in Congress, and also in the majority of states. For example, you can't be a witness in a court trial without making an oath to "God," which atheists won't do. I haven't never seen anyone say "No," to the oath, so I'm not sure what happens. This is what happens with a democracy. *rolls eyes*
Interesting. It's hard to imagine for someone like me who comes from a country that is very atheistic.
wow the english ones are pretty boring compared to Japan even though none of those are anime that I watch, George W Bush is probably updated the most because of over half the country not liking him now.
All top 5 of the Japan one are related to anime. And all the English can think about is Bush..lol.. And I didn't expect Mai-hime to be up there, surprising.
Very interesting... For some unknown reason, this makes me happy.
I'm American, and I never even looked any of those up. Wish more Americans would be more into anime and less into politics and religion.
Wikipedia is the biggest joke of modern times. Use it to amuse your friends but never for serious research. Its like a bunch of students arguing.
That's pretty misleading, though. For one thing, only certain types of people will edit Wiki pages (read: geeky). It would be like conducting a survey about "What music do British people like?" but only asking people in infant schools. It's a tremendously biased cross-section. I mean, ooh, who'd a thought that the sorts of Japanese people that would edit Wiki would also like anime! Then there's the issue that the English Wiki is going to be getting edited by English people, Welsh people, Northern Irish people, Scottish people, Americans, Canadians, New Zealanders, Australians and many other locations. I'm sure that if was a uniquely American page, that only people with US IPs could edit, then anime would figure a lot higher since it's more popular there than it is in the other English-speaking places. Even then, Wiki is much more popular in the west than it is in Japan so, in other words, all sorts of people will edit it in the west whereas only more "hardcore" (read: geeky) people will edit it in Japan. I mean, just out of interest, how many of you actually know that anime is seen as very geeky (and/or just for kids) in Japan too? I know that when I was younger I used to think that in Japan it was seen as a normal thing to like, like football in England, but it really isn't. It's seen as normal to watch Ghibli and certain anime are regarded as iconic, like Doraemon, and will be watched by people of all ages. Beyond that, though, if you're any older than about 16, you're seen as a huge geek.
Sorry, that should say "It's tremendously biased, NOT a cross-section at all"...
lol, it's funny how america and france are all events or important things and japan is all anime.
but anime IS an important thing! the most important, some would say xD
Anime has become a cultural movement, no wonder We all are here, from all over the world.
Probably because the people who bother changing the entries care have too much free time. >_<; I'm more interested in why the French Wiki changes Algeria so often.
It may be because it's edited by french speaking algerians as wel as french people of algerian origins who can have very different opinions about colonisation, war, etc... Also those old stats show only about 2K edits for the article about Algeria which is not a lot for the description of a country BTW, single users often make dozens or hundreds of edits on some articles , that doesn't necessarily mean much, it includes correction of typos etc..
One piece ftw! lol! 2/5 ^^;;;
Nice 3y3s on those 2.
Ha! I edit Wikipedia! >D
WOW g.w. bush most edited? nice fail america.
lol, i have edited wikipedia b4 lol love anime XD
in before japanese military personnel got busted for updating gundam DB/wiki few times a day
Japan does not have half the polical debocles like here in the US
Wow, I would never expect for Japanese people to care so much about Wikipedia pages about anime. But then again, most of the people that edit Wikipedia seem to be otaku, so it makes logical sense that anime comes into top priority. :D
why all the shounens on the to list?
Because boys and girls read shounens, while it's mostly girls that read shoujos? That's my take anyway, I don't know for sure.
i wonder what bolehland wiki being edit to... ^_^
Anime is one of the greatest industry Japan has. Just my instinct is that, money come from that industry. That's why J-Wiki has always given time to be edited especially in the anime section. XD
nobody care about bush... That is very funny. I wonder what do England care for>
that means the people in france just really don't care.. suprised hygine isn't the top one there :D
LOL ! I just looked for One Piece characters on the french Wikipedia. Guess I am more a japanese that a french mainstream. But that is not a surprise ! ^^;
Still not all of them did care about anime. Japanese friends around me have a strong interest in mangas since its a way to spend their free time in the densha...
cool anime is gonna be number 1 in the whole wide world in the future if we advertise it on school or street
I'm surprised a bit about these results, yet, at the same time, disappointed.
thats some great statistics right there I love them... you should care about your hobbies and science I think, not some mainstream shit and politics :O
I wonder who most of the editors are..? 2chan members perhaps?
wow thought Star Wars be up there in America then again we have Wookiipedia
yaaa.... ANIME makes us entertained...flexing your brain also... hail to the ANIME...say yes to the ANIME... ANIME=asset, without it, Japan won't be famous
As expected . . .
Maybe it's becasue anime has given us more than anything in the other lists :) , maybe not christ but that's another story .
Wow!! Mai Hime has a great score there! Impressive... Love the anime
Wow Japanese people REALLY care lol XD
