Great website with loads of streamable (is that even a word) anime. I was able to find almost all anime I wanted and most had a decent image quality. Registration is not needed for watching stuff but if one wants to upload links, it's recommended to register.

though i'm sure he has all the links and everything. one of the things i dont like about that website is that it has ads... and i'm not just saying it for the sake that i hate ads but the fact that hes trying to make money off of other websites its a little "bad form" if you know what i mean.

crunchyroll used to do it and thats why i hated it. but now that they dont have ads anymore and are working with more distributors to put out legal and good stuff they arent as bad anymore.

my point probably is if your going to watch anime thats licenced dont placate yourself by saying i'm not downloading anything since i'm streaming. i get plenty of people saying that and it just makes me sigh.

Wow, I never knew people thought of streaming as legal...
I guess it's the same type of people that think DB are the producers of Naruto/Bleach.
Obtaining/Sharing IP (Intellectual Property) in any form is illegal, unless your country says otherwise.
Japan = Downloading is OK / Uploading is NOT ok
USA = Both are NOT ok
There are a few other countries with exceptions, like where ThePirateBay is being hosted.

No, no, crunchyroll actually has legal streaming. They've worked out deals with the distributors so that the shows are actually being distributed on their site. You get to watch an episode within a particular timeframe (a couple days, I think?) and also have an option to download it for a small fee.

So I don't think Syaoran is saying that streaming is legal. There's certainly more illegal than legal sites out there.

I think the only one crunchyroll has worked a deal with is Gonzo. I didn't catch any other show anyway

I supposed I should have added "Unauthorized" to that Sharing IP part.
Obviously, if the producer/maker says it's ok to share it on the internet, it's legal.
However, from what I'm seeing from CrunchRoll, I see no mention of them streaming only legally approved content. They to have a Copyright page stating contact info if the IP owner want their content removed.
Going by this, I'm to assume they upload/share things until they receive letters of Copyright Infringement, which many Fansubs/Stream/BT websites operate.
Also, seeing as how they practically have every single new-release, while obviously missing some, I highly doubt they received permission from said companies.
Also, it appears that users are able to upload videos, and they are not all provided by CrunchyRoll. According to their upload rules, they do not have a pre-approved list of distributors, meaning anything is ok:
http://wiki.crunchyroll.com/Guideline_for_Uploading_Videos
Although they do not approve licensed content, it is still technically illegal to upload/share/host IP/Copyrighted material without specific consent of the publisher/etc.. While it is hosted on the website itself, the uploader themselves also need permission. I do not know of their standing with Gonzo, and while I briefly browsed their site, I did not find any information regarding their ties with Gonzo.
--
In short, while applying my said statements above, said website is indeed technically hosting illegal material*. So is YouTube, but the point I'm trying to make is, that it's illegal*. Just like downloading copyrighted material from BT, or any other downloading source. "But everybody's doing it" doesn't make it legal in any form what so ever.
--
Many of us download unauthorized material from various sources, obviously.
I do not care whether you are participating in such acts or not.
What I do care is whether or not people understand that such acts are illegal*.
--
* - As stated previously, laws of some countries differ and this may not apply to you.

...I didn't say Crunchyroll ONLY had legal content. I'm well ware there's plenty of illegal stuff there too. Sorry if it came across that way.

But as 「頂の座」 mentioned, Gonzo did give permission for free broadcast as well as downloading for that small fee, for those specific shows. The first one was BLASSREITER, earlier this year.

...And I do illegally download. ^^; We all do. It's become second-nature, which is why I laugh whenever people say they want to stop it. I'm sure I'll regret this when I'm the one making the movies in a few years. :p

BT > Stream.
I've tried several steaming websites, with bad results every single time.
Either a link is broken, an episode is missing, servers are down, streaming is too slow, they don't have what I want to watch, they only have dub versions, and the list goes on.
With BT, it may take longer to download, but once you have it, that's it. No further problems can arise if you know your codecs and players. (CCCP + MPC)

My friend gave me this site to watch anime (originally movies) of all ranges. This site is helpful watching old series that got pulled by other sites (i.e. YouTube, Veoh). Newer anime I tend to download a high quality fansub version.

Streaming sites are ok to watch the first ep or so to get a feel for the show but its much better quality and entertainment to buy or download your anime for full series.

Streaming sites most often have slight fluctuations of quality and subbing if the whole series is not uploaded by the same person. I rather have consistent sub and quality over anything, because every subber interprets the words differently and some might be wrong and some might be right, which could possibly lead to confusion for the viewers.
