The movie poster for the 2009 Astro Boy compared to the Japanese original.
Hmmmm. I think I need some time getting used to the 2009 movie version.
Via Akaa.

Did anybody get round to watching the latest anime series of Tetsuwan Atom? Was quite awesome.

I never got into astro boy, and pretty much felt the same.
It just doesn't look right.

It's bad enough I had to sit and watch things I loved get butchered, but now I have to watch it happen to things I never got into as well. It's like a preemptive strike to keep me from being interested in it ever.

ASTROBOY DOES NOT WEAR SHIRTS OR PANTS

I expect it to be a typical Cars, Finding Nemo, Over the Hedge any other CGI movie of the week with the Astro Boy name plastered all over it to sell tickets.

I really love the latest Tetsuwan Atom anime series even though I've only seen the first and bits of the second season.

The CG 2009 Astro Boy version doesn't have that "edge" that the original Japanese version got. Feels too wholesome and PG13 to me...

Well at least japanese animated films are still 2d.
I can only think of .hack Trilogy for Japan.

Anyway is Astro Boy going to be wearing clothes for the whole duration of that movie?

According to wiki - it's made by the same ppl who did TMNT. Freddie Highmore, the star in Finding Neverland, will voice Astroboy. I reckon the 3-D version will take off and earn the original Astroboy new fans.

Imagi Animation people! Not Pixar lol, though it's cool that Pixar is well known. Go Wall-E!
Anyway Imagi did TMNT as Matsu mentioned above, as well as the upcoming Gatchaman CG movie to come I think in the same year as the Astroboy. Probably means that at least one of the two was made in either their HK or Japan studio, unless they just have a great amount of manpower to make both films at the same time in the same studio.

It was pulled from CBBC for being 'too dark' though.... bloody annoying.... They repeated some episodes last year sometime though.
