Heard about this arcade game a while ago and have always wanted to play but dont really get time to spend in the arcades.

I like Street Fighter and I also like Bishojo/Moe characters so I naturally like the look of this. Added the OP of the game to the Otavids here and game footage here and you can see a ton more at YouTube.

Arcana Heart is due for a October 11th release on the PS2 and will retail at 6,090 yen.
The official site has some wallpaper to keep you occupied in the meantime.
Collected these images from Google search a while ago and cant remember the site names (sorry ^^;)

Cool PS2 release, I think this game's popularity has gone quite about it after the whole expansion issue(correct me if im wrong). It's a fun game and i used to play this game a lot when my local arcade got it, but my interest kind of wear off because more and more pros were playing it, so it was hard to pratice combos. Since, theres a ps2 version, now i can finally pratice the combos :D. My 2 mains are Heart and Saki(samurai girl, eventhough she is top tier);P

Nice to know that they still come out with games for the PS2 in Japan, although this game could have come out on the PS1 lol. Definitely my kind of game.

Yup, although I really get a chance to play games of its genre (I liked guilty gear).

This game has alot of decent combos and is quite tough to play.

The game is based on timing ALOT and of course there's a special button which I call it the dash buttons. It dashes (or fly) towards to opponent in a homing method. You can also use it to use your summon with the usual semi circle combination with it. Canceling and breaking through attacks are also used with this. However there's a gauge for it to be used (3 max) and you'll need to wait for it to ocol down too.

Fighting games aren't my things. Long strings of buttom pushing + me =/= fighting game player.

I play racing games and tons of it. Particularly, Initial D Arcade.

Aw I've been wanting to ask Danny if he is a regular at the arcades. Of course arcades and other competetive stuff has different sorts of people ranging from nice ones to elitist assholes.

However it'll be interesting to know what the competetive players in Japan overall attitude is like. So far in match vids where you can here the background noise you can always here the players really having fun. Even under disadvantageous situations the dude just playfully comments and all that. Despite all the chatter they still perform very nicely. Still for somebody new to the game hopping into the arcade to battle out may require some dedication to get up to a standard where you don't get owned so fast. I felt that in GGXX#Reload, got owned uberfast by some Zappa lol.

In some arcades of a few countries I've been to, a lost tends to get followed up by a shout or a bang. Yet those players aren't the definite best in that particular game lol. No offense but it's true.

Haha I'm uber noob at fighting games. I play a wicked game of wining eleven though.

I think its been years since I've ever stepped into an arcade.

These are definitely my type of games. But I highly doubt that it would make its way here. Would definitely love to try it out. +1 reason to go to japan again. heheh

You know me, I'm not very good at games... I would like to give this a try though. I can enjoy the characters as I lose. ^o^

Seems crazy like Rival Schools with all those girls in uniforms and a bit Street Fighter/King of Fighter-ish.

Not sure about that though.

I am a complete fan of SF and KoF (not a fan of SNK Playmore though, nothing like the old SNK -R.I.P.-). I have been in the 2D fighting game genre since I was young, beginning with Street Fighter II, Samurai Shodown, World Heroes 2, Fatal Fury Special, Darkstalkers II etc., so I could say I am into it.
I'd more have problems with 3D games, but Tekken, Soul Calibur, Virtua Fighter seem manageable for a (still) 3D reluctant guy like me.

I find the PE ninja girl funny otherwise. Hope it will be a good game as the screenshots look great!

Fighter
umm...it doesn't come out in September, i remember reading sites and the official site saying october. anyways, yeah, i've been following this game since it's inception and have watched tons of match vids of this game. I'll be definitely getting this in October since I'm a such fighting game whore. However, as much time i've spent 'studying' this game, it's not my type of fighter. The MvC, GGX/XX, HnK, MB fighting games are meh IMO, since they're not as 'grounded' as the SF, Garou & KoF games. I'm just not big of a fan of aerial combos + air dashing. Though it's fun due to the easy (& flashy) high combos, it gets kind of stale imo. The graphics for AH is about on par w/ MB and the animations are slightly below MB. I'm sorta looking forward to Capcom's upcoming 2D fighter, which is supposedly based on their Sengoku Basara series. But since it's developed by Arc System Works, I'm not that excited, since it'll play like another Guilty Gear.

Played it in the arcade but it isn't my type of game ^^;

Not that great with 2D scroller fighting games. Would if there's a Mirai character ^^

PS2 seems to be getting some decent games in September. Nanatsuiro Drops Pure and now this, will definatley be buying this. It looks so good, especially with the bishoujo characters. Wouldn't mind this being in my nearest Arcade.

I had a couple of goes on this when i was over there.
It looks nice - good character designs - very moe, but lacks the impressive animation and move lists of the street fighter, melty blood or guilty gear games. Rounds last for ages! Theres an unusual character that is basically a girl in a school swimsuit that fights inside a morphing sphere of water!

Wow, this looks like my ideal game =D
I'm a GGX addict (1st place at all the tournaments I've ever seen here =P) and I'm a moe addict even more.

'm sure the game play will never match up to GGX, but I'm definitely going to give this one a try!

I've had some bad experience with doujin games. While I do like the character variety, the gameplay itself is not always the best. Playing it just for fun is surely nice, but nothing for a competitive gamer like me ;)

This game looks soo good! I hope i find it in an arcade when i go to Japan. I was playing streetfighter today with Perplexus on the Sega Megadrive, it was alot of fun ^_^ SO a Moe/Bishoujo street fighter would rock. I wish it was on GC, or Wii though :/

Gotta love fighting games + moe characters!
I wish it was easier to get those here.
I only played so far:
- Eternal Fighter Zero
- Nijikaku 17
- Immaterial and Missing Power (keyboar d only T_T)
- Melty Blood

Anyways, Arcana Heart looks nice. I'll find some way to import it or something... :D

I must have this. If only there were more than 24 hours in a day I could actually PLAY all the new games I keep buying. So far this month I've bought Eternal Sonata, Stranglehold and Super Paper Mario and I'll probably buy another game or 2 before the month ends. It's a good thing I have the money to support my unhealthy addiction to video games and anime. >.

I think there is something really wrong in hitting cute girls like that. I generally don't like fighting games anymore (which might be a surprising statement from the local Street Fighter champion).
They should use those girls in a bishoujo game instead if they can figure out a good story for them.
