Kotobukiya delivered my Mirei on the day of release but I returned it due to shoddy paint work around her lower pair of eyes. They were pretty good about replacing her for me but I had to wait a while as it was Golden Week at the time.
Went absolutely crazy with the camera and took over 300 pictures and struggled to get that down to 50 this morning - with a figure this gorgeous, your camera trigger finger automatically goes crazy ^^;
The paint work on the replacement is spot on and the sculpting is top notch. Its interesting because she looks cute and sexy at the same time. She comes with two right arms and two hair styles - I prefer her hair up. Still considering getting the blonde version too.
The chair that she comes with is well detailed but you can sit her just about anywhere including your left shoulder. Marvin took some interesting pictures with Mirei's accessories which I thought was cute.
You will notice one pic of Mirei with a white background - tried following SuperRats indoor tutorial but failed - probably need more lamps.
Update: Just added two images to the wallpaper pool.

What's with the tete-a-tete in the sixth photo? You getting kinky on us Danny? ^^; Darn, these photos look great Danny! She was low on my buy list, but I want her! Err, I mean I want to get her... Ooh... maybe I should quite while I'm ahead. ^o^ Some of these would make great wallpaper... ^^; I like your experimental shots; like the one with the white backdrop. Yes she looks more, professional with her hair up.

Definitely hair down. I don't think I can stand much more of the brown sockings. It just doesn't look attractive to me. Also, the fingers on the hand that holds the pen looks a bit fat. Other than that, she is absolutely gorgeous.

Such a lovely figure.Definatley the best Shunya Yamashita designed figure out at the moment. Also the photos you talk of her are great Danny,they make her look even better. Will definatley have to get myself a Mirei sometime.

300 pics?? 0.0 Who can blame you, she IS probably the best looking figure ever after all. I just love everything about it - love the fact that its just an ordinary office worker too - not some bikini clad space warrior with removeable knickers. Cant wait to get mine (hurry up Tokyotoys!)! Too bad about the dodgy paint job, i wouldve gone mad with the wait to get her replaced - hope mine isnt the same!

The only thing missing on this figure for me (and it's a very minor thing), is some sexy glasses to complete that whole "hot ass businesswoman" look. They could've even include some glasses she could hold, and put one part in her mouth for an even sexier pose. However, this figure is pretty much perfect as is. I definitely prefer Mirei-san with her hair up.

@windbell: I asked the same question and sent an email to HLJ asking if they were gonna get her, the response was that she was a Kotobukiya exclusive so no luck with HLJ.

I'm not that enthusiastic about Mirei-san, but I have to admit that she's beautiful. Not on my wishlist, I prefer Yamashita's girls with big weapons and armors that cover only the necessary ;) Hair up for me, and as CyberSynaptic said, some glasses would have been great!

UUUWAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH *NOSE BLEED* Wow, she really is amazing, i alway thought she was going to be good, but the few pictures of her on the itnernet never did her justice. But now, with your photos, you really have shown how amazing she is...i mean, here 2nd pair of eyes are even bigger than i had imagined, and the sheer quality, and the pose...ooh my...i think im in love with this figure. I am going to get this when i come to Japan, hopefully Kotobukia will have it in stock ^_^ Another reason i really like this one is because Shunya Yamashita is one of my favourite Japanese artists, and i really admire his style, so this is even more amazing ^_^ If only there was an anime and/or manga with mirei in...ooh how good that would be xD Oooh i do have a question though, this is slightly off topic, but, in Akihabara, do some/alot of people working shops speak english? Because even though i have been learning Japanese for almost a year now, and i will speak it whenever i can, i was just wondeirng; If not ill have to learn even more over the sumemr ^_^

Wow! That is a nice figure! I remember seeing it on this site a while ago before you got it and thinking it was ok, but now that I've seen your fine photos I really want one! I'll be looking out for this when I go to the London anime expo in 12 days. PS: She looks waaaay better with the hair up

She's very nice. Very sharp pictures too. Did you break out the tripod for these? As for the indoor shot and my tutorial, I see people struggling to get it to work on white. One of these days when I stop being lazy I'll have to write some tips specifically on the white background as it's a bit trickier than using a colored background.

@super rats, Yes, please do instruct us sensei. ^^ I've only shot a few portraits against white backgrounds outdoors. Fortunately they where textured backgrounds which helped out tremendously. I'm assuming lighting is as important with figures, right?

Hi Danny, thanks for the great review/pics! I just received my figure today, and although it's gorgeous, it does have some defects where her jacket buttons and around where her jacket meets her shirt on her lower pair of "eyes". Honestly I don't think it's the seller's fault because it would be impossible to see these defects while in the box. As a US buyer who bought through eBay, do I have any recourse for an exchange through Kotobukiya? Or would it even be worthwhile to try due to exhorbitant shipping? I guess it could just be the price one pays as a US buyer who gets these for considerably less dunero ($35 shipped). If there is a Kotobukiya contact I could make for a reasonably priced exchange please let me know! Thank you!

I just got my order for Mirei-san in, and am trying to switch the hair to have it up. It doesn't want to come off and I don't want to break it. A friend suggested that maybe the front hair needs to come off first, but I see no indication of that. Any advice on how to remove it?
