While it is generally not what the government supports, I don't really see the authorities doing anything about jaywalking.

How far away are the Roppongi Hills from Tokyo, Danny?

Meh they "make" jaywalking illegal but I see students jaywalk all the time when I drive to school. Really annoying imo, I think there was only one incident where I saw someone get hit.

@Dead Snake

Jaywalking is crossing the street anywhere other then the crosswalks.

Now interesting little fact in California jaywalking is only illegal if you are crossing the street between two controlled intersections. So you are fine if one of the intersections has no stop signs or traffic lights. Knowledge of this little fact prevented got a friend of mine out of a ticket.

Great weekly feature Danny. Since its been awhile since I was there things look familiar and new at the same time. Good show.

As for jaywalkin, it is illegal but generally ignored here by police. Unless it is spotted just at the right time causing possible obstruction or accident with traffic.

I'm glad jaywalking isn't illegal here, since everyone does it (including me =P). But then again, we don't have that much crosswalks, so there's no way they could illegalize it.

Ah, another great feature from DannyChoo. And I con't wait to see that Vader suit in action. ;)

AAs for your jaywalking question, its completely legal here in London on any roads with pavements. That is to say, you can't jaywalk across the motorway or major roads, mainly because you'll definetly get smacked by a car.

Jaywalking is not illegal, only illegal if you cross the street with crosswalk is at least 50 meters away from you, if a cop catch you doing that than you have to pay a "toll" but besides that almost everyone does it here. It's more convenient to find a break in traffic than go find a crosswalk which may be hundreds of meters away from your current position

In London now, people who go on the London Transport with Oyster cards get the minimum calculated fare taken out of the money deposited to the card. It has saved me some bother in figuring out what ticket I might have had to get to get to the other side of London or anything of the sort.

And on Jaywalking, no one really looks up on it as I have seen.

Jaywalking is illegal within a 100-200 meters of a crossing, but i have never seen it enforced even when people do it infront of the police.
But on another note wasnt the famous mafia guy al gapone caught jay walking and taking to the station and while he was there they raided his home?
