Probably going to wait, as it seems now there will be no promotional price on the iPhone for signing a contract. Also as Apple is famous for, we'll probably start to see a new and improved iPhone in the next year or so, firstly with new colors. :p
it'll be great if we can install eroge in it..lol
Iphone is GSM or CDMA?
i love to have an iPhone but i think when it gets here in the philippines, it'll have an astronomical price that i might not afford @@
The iPhone is slated for release on Friday June 29th at 6:00pm "Local Time". I've heard some things happening on Craig's List regarding individuals who have put themselves up for sale as line-up buoys. Not bad to earn $100 USD for standing around in line. Speaking of the iPhone, companies in Asian, (notably China) have begun to counterfeit them. If you go on youtube you can find the movie for the "tPhone" which is a blatant, albeit fairly nice knock-off of the iPhone. =)
Tiny Red Man, Apparently it runs OSX so it could be possible to run eroge apps on it. Jay Cee, Have no idea ^^;
I would like to get an iphone but the price is 600 USD which I can't afford lol, plus its for cingular and I'm a t-mobile guy. The funny thing is people are auctioning themselves on ebay to stand in line and buy an iphone for you, same thing happened with the PS3 release. But I would love to have one, much better than my creative zen.
I will not be purchasing the Iphone because I am basically ancient on cellphone technology. I need a cell phone, and that's all I will ever need. I never really thought or wanted to have upgraded cell phone technology unless I thought it would be handy. I do think the Iphone is an interesting concept though.
Or you can grab the miniOne instead, the 'iPhone Clone'. ^^; http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/like-the-iphone/meizu-minione-specs-revealed-its-actually-got-some-juice-261388.php Maybe should get one to run eroge ^^;
No no, I'm waiting for future release of the iPhone because of the following: I don't like they ideal of not being able to change my own battery. Don't know about everyone else, but I can kill a battery each year. They iPhone is only GSM and EDGE. No HSDPA (3G) I'm not sure about data plan cost right now. Have this feeling AT&T is going to overcharge at the begining just because it's the iPhone. Currently I have an HTC Hermes/AT&T 8525. I pay almost $50 USD for my data plan. Yes, that not including my calling plan. From what I understand no third part applications can be added to the iPhone. The only way anything else can be added is buy building Web 2.0 style applets. Part of the reason Apple pushed Safari out in beta form and for Windows, I think. As with all Apple products, they will improve with future versions. I was thinking AU as well...
Woohoo! Nice to to know that you're using HTC's TyTn model Edward! Did you flash it to run Windows Mobile 6 =0.
I will get an iPhone if, and ONLY if... - It has a user replaceable SIM card so I can buy pre-paid cards for when I am out of the country. It was originally rumored to not have such, but now is rumored to have it. - It has 3G. Of course it will eventually, if it's going to be out in Japan. Apple held off on this because of cost concerns--not in manufacturing necessarily, but because a patent royalty decision had yet to be made by courts, and the wrong decision would have really hurt their initial release. They're OK on this front now, though. I personally want 3G not for the data transfer rates so much as the ability to use the same phone in the US and Asia. - It has to support Asian language input on my US model--or at least support English text completion on an Asian model, assuming I'd personally be able to activate an Asian model (if they require it like the new US models will). This is, again, primarily so I can use the same phone in multiple countries. I'm least optimistic about this possibility, though. I'll get an iPhone as soon as it supports those three features. If it doesn't, then I'll get one whenever I can pick one up for cheap.
As an Apple fanboy, I will most likely get one in a few years. However, their current asking price is pretty outrageous....
Haha I know why you want to get the iPhone, cause you want to run eroge on it right? Anyway, I'm also looking forward to the iPhone but its still so damn far away, with a year before its launched in Asia. Since Japan always has great handphones, I'm sure soon you will find a better phone coming out to rival the iPhone.
That 'Peko-tan' & 'This frame' link doesnt work; 403 forbidden :(. Iphone looks very sleek, first time I've seen a seamless design for a mobile phone. How would you be able to convert videos? If I remember correctly apple have their own format like AVC for the psp.
i have a soft spot for cell phones... have change cells 3 times in the last 8 months. currently, using a motorola rokr e6... but i probably will move onto new and better things.
@Mac, last I heard you couldn't change the SIM card. I wonder how they program the phone?? When I'm in Japan I use Softbank's network and Skype over Wi-Fi. @NickC, No, AT&T will release Windows Mobile 6 in August for the 8525. I've never been good at flashing devices like this, so I didn't want to create a $500 USD brick. ^^; I hope all this doesn't blow up in Steve's face. I don't see most people getting their plan and data services under $100 USD. We are talking $100 USD every month, no over you minutes or KB charges. Don't get me wrong I like the iPhone. I'm just wondering if people are giving all this a lot of thought. Many of my colleagues and friends easily have $100 USD plus mobile bill every month with overages. I wonder how many are willing to pay $200 USD plus bill every month.
Hi danny, highly doubt it can run third party OSX apps cause the OS is pretty streamlined and locked out... unless some uber hacker unlockes it ^^ so u guys can use the multi touch function to its fullest potential LOLs Anyway apple needs to ramp up the specs cause it pales in comparison to some of the phones in japan/Asia. I think iPhone lacks quite afew features that are present on my samsung phone notably it does have the ability to expan the memory with SD cards and battery replacement and 3G. Once I get my iPhone I hope will be able to do this (check the link for my shuffle iPhone) http://ariaanime.ikimashou.net/archives/itunes-store-anime-shuffle-iphone
Well, with some iPhone reviews out, it looks like the iPhone *does* use SIM cards (and presumably would accept USIM cards when they move to 3G). We'll have to wait for word on the unlocking policy, since AT&T is going to be much more protective of the lock with iPhones than other cell phones. Hopefully simply being an international traveler is still a good enough reason. And it's true: the iPhone just doesn't have a native API open to third party developers. Apple is exposing some of the iPhone's functionality through Javascript for AJAX-type applications, though, and claims these Safari-driven web-apps will be able to work as though they were native. We'll see!
I'd like an iPhone is the sim card is interchangeable. Being able to watching Youtube on the pot sounds like a plausible idea to me, haha.
Another thing about the iPhone is the built-in battery that is quoted to not be user-removable. So like the iPod series, if you have battery problems you are going to have to send it back in to Apple or the retailer to get it fixed.
lol at the picture. I'll probably end up doing something like that too. Tons of porn on my iPhone. yes!
my bro study in the US and he's gonna buy one wait till next summer to touch it XD
Famous last words, still haven't gone to bed. ^^; @Mac, that's good news. When I first heard about no SIM, I was confused. You are right about lock code. Hopefully, the international plan will allow one to do so. I too don't worry about data plans, since I can almost text myself silly in Japan for nothing. Here in the state people are looking at the iPhone and thinking I can surf the web and watch videos. That's a lot of data moving around... Personally, I picked the HTC Hermes because it's used by Softbank and DoCoMo. I think Wilcom is using it not as well. @NickC, Yes... As soon as I heard that, I said no thank you. ^o^ Did you flash your Hermes/TyTn? Better stop multi-posting or Danny will have me hanging by piano wire. ^o^ This is such a big topic right now.
Yup, I got the White Softbank X01HT and flashed it to WM 6 Black edition. There are really crappy data packages here in Canada so I'm using my school's/home's Wi-Fi when I want to check e-mail or surf the web.
Subaruhess and all, Peko could be blocking access from outside of Japan. Run the links through a proxy like http://hidemyass.com - its worth it ^^; Windbell, That clone is lol. Edward, Feel welcome to contribute as much as you like ^^
hey, if i get one, and that is if, the I would probably load it up with anime and use it at work while listening mp3s or watching anime as I listen to someone complain about something
not a fan of handphones/ mobile phones and such. therefore doesn't interest me. i am using the ones left by my elder and younger brother. i am more interested with that picture :)
Bleh - id never get one. If its anything like my ipod experience a few years back, it wont detect on my computer, the software will be rubbish and it will be brought back to the shop a few days later! Plus, im not a fan of the touch screen. I like a tactile response on my gadgets - speshley my phone. I can write a text without looking at my phone, y'see...
For those wondering about the OS on it, I can guarantee it'll be hacked to run a full-fledged OS X if it already doesn't contain one. Remember the Apple TV? Within a week, people were upgrading the HDs and installing the full OS on it. I'd also be willing to bet that, within a year or so, you'll even be able to run Linux on it. As far as the Peko-tan site goes, in Safari, I cannot access it due to a 403 error. Running through a proxy, however, I can. The weird part comes when I put other web browsers into the equation. I can access it via Camino without having to go through a proxy first. I can also access it without a proxy through Opera as well. Either way, it's a very, VERY nice page. ^^
I doubt it'll be AU. It'll be SoftBank... Personally, I'd prefer an iPod like that. I can do without the phone features...
sleek looking, I'll consider buying one indeed...
Hmm, looks sleak and cool. I'll buy that one if I have some money.
I like the fact that ist's not coming out in Finland yet, gives some time to hear about people's expreiences and possible problems before I buy it myself.

The iPhone just reminds me of all those PDA phones that are currently out except it has a better looking OS on it.
So here's the deal. I'm guessing it runs a real version of OS X, given that recent reports say that the "OS" takes up 700MB of the storage. Not that it matters, as Apple isn't opening up a REAL SDK yet. I probably won't buy one until someone's found a way to hack real apps onto it yet. At the moment, I'm running a Softbank X01HT (HTC Hermes) flashed with the WM6 "Black" rom. Working well, and let's me install real apps. Damn Apple though, for making something so pretty, and syncable with OS X. As for the carrier, I'm going to be it will be Softbank that will carry it though, as they're still the only carrier here in Japan who isn't using their own (semi) proprietary network, going with good old GSM variants. We'll see in a year though...
I want one so badly, but they are: a) too expensive and b) too expensive. :(
I won't be getting one. My sexually active eten glofiish keeps me warm at night... even if WM6 is more like stalefiish. iPhone is missing too many features for me. And it's mac branded.
Knowing apple I'd wait it out until they release a new version before I get one. Same thing happened the last time I bought an iPod. Three months later new gen iPods were out. tsk tsk tsk. Another thing is the iPhone right now is pretty much still a baby. I feel that they brought it out too early. Still has a lot of room for improvements. For one, they need to let us be able to change the battery. I definitely think it's crazy that you have to pay a fee for them to change the battery. Another would be to add in HSDPA. I use this a lot and is one of the reasons why I wanted to be able to change the battery myself. Using 3G or HSDPA can easily take out your battery life. And the biggest complain I have right now is that I wanted to be able to develop apps for my phone. I just can't live without my phone having those 3rd apps. *rant end* lolz. ^^
herru Danny! Sorry, couldn't get you today ^O^; could you e-mail me if you have a chance?
@Tom I'm usnig Opera now and I get a 403 error trying to access the link, I can hear the website taunting me, just beyond my reach!
Nah, ain't getting one. For me, a handphone is what it is: a device for communication. Don't need any other fancy features than calling people and writing text messages.
HTC Hermes/TyTn Users unite!
Good design, but I prefer my Ipaq 2790 and Blackberry Curve. I'll replace the Ipaq 2790 with the HTC Kaiser P4550... *_*
I would love to watch anime on the go in that fine device, but since I live in England it would probably get mugged or something. Also I probably wont be able to afford it when it comes out... >
Don't have much in the way of buying a new phone now but.... it is so calling me. but i answer back i hate phones and stop looking so good and having all that new technology. Damn it Apple, i own enough of your crap as it is. So maybe my next phone once the current contract is up.
Those NSFW links dont work! I wanna see that pic >_>.. (o)(o)
For those who cant see the Peko links - run them through a proxy.

Not a huge fan of PDA like devices but even I am tempted to get a JesusPhone... But I hear that you can't use mp3 songs as ringtones, and assorted other "things you can't do" so it's not fantastic. Still cool though...
Hmmm....isnt iPhone is GSM only? and IIRC Japan using UMTS/WCDMA right? @_@ So if apple want to release iPhone in Japan or Korea, they need to release UMTS/WCDMA version and god knows how long that would take or if its ever going to happen -_-; Anyways Im not really a fan of iPhone, I'd rather take Nokia N95 instead lol
ah yes its coming out this week over here. Its too expensive and plan for t is $60, not to mention the price of one iPhone. I don't think I will be getting it any time soon.
I'm more interested in the pic than the phone itself...
I acctually have one with me all the tima, and im from Tijuana Mexico, and yeah its anime on the go all the time, in the taxi, the bus etc... a must have
