I don't really buy trading figures because the quality of some can be questionable. My initial impression when I first saw these new trading figures from Takara Tomy, was that the quality seems to be getting much better. However I do have a gut feeling that these are just the usual initial cast photos used for the press releases. I hate it when the pre-release photos are completely different from the completed product.
I'd whip these up in a jiffy if the quality is as the photos are. We can find out end of July when these defense force lady officers (女性自衛官) go on sale for 525 yen each.
Images from GA Graphic.

Speaking of trading figures, the Tetsudo Musume (train girls) trading figure series has been so popular that they are releasing a 1/8 scale PVC of one of the girls this November.

Just like the japanese to turn military figures into cuteness ^_^

I really like some trading figures. Theyre cheap, big and much more presentable than gachapon.
I like those cute train girl ones - i nearly brough some, but i just dont have space! I'd rather have few large figures than loads of small ones.

i liked the train girls series. but i don't quite know what to say with this one...perhaps a way to build up sentimental nationalism in otakus in Japan?

Those DF officer figures look pretty cool! I got my first trading figure this past week at Anime Mid-Atlantic from the Range Murata 3.0 series. Luckily I was able to get the one I wanted on the first buy.

I don't really get many trading figures(or figures at all!), but the quality of those figures by Takara look to good to pass up.

There are some Really nice trading figures & some naff ones. I have some of the megahouse petite studio figures & the colours/details are very good. Full size figures are still better quality.

The first trading figure I got was Metal Gear Solid 2 from Konami, they looks pretty good. Some trading figure that I have seen looks quite detail for the small size.

Trading figures started my otaku hobby. They were pretty cool, until I found that they were too small and not even comparable to bigger figures. I used to like the gundam seed sets, but quality isnt that good. Although I don't collect them anymore, I still want the pilots in their flightsuits.

I do buy trading figures but only the really good ones which, sadly, is only a select few. Most of them look crap compared to their image ad. ~_~

I really enjoyed shopping for trading figures in Akiba. In some of the hobby stores, modelers will take trading figures, mod them to great length, and end up with fantastic results. Once a little carving, airbrushing, and accessories are added, some can look pretty darn cool.

i only bought those trading figs from naruto, cause i wanted all the characters, on a budget.

But that's the only exception.

The quality seems very good according to those pictures, but it's true the final product is always different....

Trading Figures can look really nice in a collection but as stated in this post. A lot of the time the qualit is questionable. For me, Konami's Figumate line is one of the best series of Trading Figures I've ever seen. The quality is brilliant and they really do end up looking like Chibi versions of the characters. And the paint work is ace.

It is true that some trading figures can ahve quite poor quality. But i still like to collect them, because there is just something about small figures i like. I still like to get the large scale ones, but..hmm...maybe its because with smaller oens i can egt more on my shelf? xD

My Ghost in the shell trading figures are really good quality, however in comparisson, my capcom girls collection is a little poor, and they are the ones that lean in the summer T_T

I don't have many trading figures, usually find the quality poor. I do enjoy train girls, so I'm looking forward to the 1/8 scale PVCs this fall.

Speaking of "trading figures" this question has eluded me for a while.

When I purchased my FMA trading figures, most figures came with one or two of these little black plastic stopper things with some kanji on top.

I have no idea what they're for and google didn't turn up anything... so, I'm asking here.

Yes I have an entire shelf of Trading figures and gashapon. They do take up a lot of room especially if you collect the sets.
