wow! that's one big bento box XD i'll rather wait before i'll install Vista into my machine 'coz MS might release some major patches and fixes like what happened to XP during its first launch ^^ but hey, i'm still going to stick to my win2k machine. if it ain't broken (or supported in this case), then why bother upgrading, right? ^^
I'm probably gonna upgrade my computer before I upgrade to Vista. XP is running everything fine for me for the time being, so I'll wait until updates for XP are no longer supported before upgrading. LOL but the way they advance things, by then Vista might already be obsolete.
I really hope my next computer is a Mac Mini cause I'm tired of using buggy windows and have been using Linux for some time now. So upgrading to vista is not in my plans any time soon. I've read in a few websites that Vista did steal ideas from Mac OS X like gadgets and other stuff. Danny, Is Mac Mini a good machine for an Apple newbie?
I will upgrade soon my Pc's Os,but with a new Linux release, not with a new bad version of a Redmond's Os...
CURSES ALL YOU MAC FANBOYS!!! Wait that includes me too... ^^; oops... No I will wait on Vista too, Windows XP is still useful for me. I don't really need the Vista eye candy or the want-a-be-mac-user features. Saying that I will probably decide to go out and get it next week. ^^; Just kidding again... For all the zealots out there I have nothing against Windows, I used it for years. I just prefer OSX as my primary OS. I have a nasty habit of wanting to get work done. ^^; I struggled with the decision of buying a new wintel box after my VAIO decided to die in the middle of a Skype conversation. In the end I installed Windows XP under boot camp and use parallels. I still have access to a full running XP install if needed and I use my XP applications right in OSX. Actually, the new version of parallels will allow me to run Windows apps right on my OSX desktop like they where native OSX apps. I just love to do this at work. I can be so evil. My Windows only colleague do a double take when they see IE7 running on a Mac desktop. Later comes WTF when they realize its not a trick but IE7 is running on OSX. If it's a visitor to our office I look them in the eyes and with a straight face and tell them, "Did you hear? Steve bought Microsoft yesterday...
MAC OSX BIOCHES!!! lol i love my ibook, cant wait to get a macbook pro soon for college, i have a XP mech but it is running Ubuntu what do u do with your old comps? give them to family?

until i see significant differences and truely more obsolete, i'll stick with XP or just might move onto to a Mac computer
OSX all the way for me! I quit using Windows about 3 years ago and I don't know if I'll ever go back.
man that bento looks so tasty ~~ sadly what I majoring won't get me into microsoft >_< I'd still think for a few months before I upgrade to vista.
Will not upgrade until i get a new laptop, as of now i dont see the upgrade necessary.
i won't be upgrading until i have a new computer that will come with new Vista. I'm ok with XP i have on both of my machines.
I'm in no rush to upgrade, XP has been running fine for me. I'll probably go for a Mac to replace my PowerBook that died in an unfortunate dynamics test. With Bootcamp and Parallels available, I think Macs offer a great solution. Glad you didn't make that picture any larger, I'd probably be speeding towards my favorite Japanese restaurant right now.
Danny, I just thought you should know that you are partially responsible for me switching to Mac recently. I have enjoyed seeing your pics and hearing you talk about them so I decided to bite. I have been using a Macbook Pro for 2 weeks now and am loving it. I put my smelly, loud Dell PC in the closet. That thing sounded like a jet engine when it was running. Oh, BTW, how about updating us on your "Mac Life"? In recent pics I noticed you had an ACD and that nice looking Logitech keyboard/mouse set. I hope they do a bluetooth version of that set, even though the mouse is designed for right handed people, and not us lefty folk.
I was a beta tester--right out of the bat the system would take half a gig, which worried me. iTunes definitely did not work with me--it would refuse to play any and all purchased songs. It would also ask questions about EVERYTHING. Aero, I found it to be rather unspectacular rather than as a silver bullet. Yeah, I won't upgrade until it is absolutely necessary.
I upgraded just last month. In my opinion, vista isn't that much different from XP which is a good thing because XP users pick up Vista in less than 30 min. I got it for the overall visual upgrade. It also handles multi-languages very nicely. Interesting fact:did u know that if you use Korean as default, the logo changes to "Windows Vista K"? it's got to do with some international fair trade agreement ruling.

might wait for the price to drop for Vista..downloading it will not be an option for me. or like some others, i might jump into Mac Mini or a Mac(if i have the cash.T.T) Anw, 1 great advantage of Vista: http://kotaku.com/gaming/top/vista-does-dirty-japanese-game-display-232329.php someone kill me..
I love bentos! yum! I'll have to upgrade sometime but err need to back up a buncha stuff first (LOL) The husband already upgraded and I think he likes it :)

Yuck! Shame on you, but you are a Microsoft minion after all. That famous bit of star wars dialog from 'Clerks' applies to you. Hope you're on the MS Death Star when the Linux Rebels blow it up! Real way to upgrade: sudo apt-get dist-upgrade XDDDDD
I am currently using Vista, only on my main desktop though, It takes quite a while to get used to the whole new (eyecandy) interface.
Maybe I'll upgrade the new machine I'm building but not this one. Plus I need to be sure that all open-source software that I use will run fine in it.
So I'll wait a lot.
If your main machine is using OSX, I'm assuming you like OSX more?
I would like to upgrade soon, however until they work out all the kinks and bugs with the drivers of other software... i'll wait just a wee bit more.
i hav been usin my mac mini for quite a time and i got use to mac and i luv it
I just installed the Vista Upgrade Advisor but it kept 'encountering a problem'. This does not inspire me with much confidence (although, if MS sent me a bento that might swing it). I have a friend that does testing for MS, we're going to restore my backup to a spare drive and then upgrade that one with Vista and see how it goes. I love this site! keep up the top-drawer work!
My sister just bought a new cmputer with Windows Vista Home Basic installed. I could see Windows Vista is more complicate than XP: each time i need to approve to install something. Yea i know that will make more secure for the computer, but when you know the file or program is no harm for you PC, that makes me little angry
HEY LOOK! A SUSHI POWERD LAPTOP!!!! (Get in there danny you rich mofo :P)
My brother bought it for his home PC. I think I'll hold off as XP is working for me...
actually im more interested on the bento than the vista... too bad there arent larger pics of it.
Windows XP is doing great for me, but I might make the transition in the future.
im cool with xp, vista is just meh... not much things are compatible with it anyway.. ill wait till something good comes up.
I use all three major operating system lines. Vista seems to be the only one, though, that requires users to be driven bat-crap insane in the name of security. I say this during my process of attempting to do some basic networking and filesharing and porting an application to it. Maybe Vista will eventually do something useful, but all it is for the time being is a tremendous headache for me.

I received a free copy of Vista from my uni (as part of the "MSDN Academic Alliance"), however I do not think I will actually use it until I update my system (a two and a half year old Vaio laptop).

I'm happy with my XP right now and i don't think i'm required to switch to the new OS, at least at the moment anyway. However, i'm pretty sure sooner or later we will be force to make the transition. I guess when that time comes, i should have enough to buy a good pc with the new OS on it.

I have it on my corp PC and see no great impovement from WinXP (I hate WinXP), aero don't work as the GC is not good enough. I like some of the new features but don't consider them as improvement. The upgrade is not applicable at home as my best PC is 8yrs old and my best machine is a PowerBook
vista... I think I will stick with my old xp and my Vista 2.0 (OSX).
I am completely Microsoft free (sorry, Danny) and loving it. So for me, Vista isn't something I have to deal with except at work. All my computers at home are Macs now. And when OS 10.5 comes out soon, I will definitely upgrade to that.

Been using it since the Rc2 days. I use it here at work, but my overall experience with it hasn't been pleasant. It will be awhile for me to make the switch to full time at home. Maybe after SP1 for it.
Somebody once said....If your local hospital's IT nut is going to install VIsta on the hospital systems, somebody better shoot him before he gets to a keyboard. MEH!
Dak Roland, When I set up my own company, all the machines will be macs ^^ MrColobus, You avatar looks cool - what/who is it? adenread, I love OSX - finder sucks though. ZombieNinja, Now that you've mentioned it I will update you this week ^^ penpen, Still keep some for QA - give the rest away to family. asstroblue, Macmini was the first mac machine I tried and loved it.
I have Vista on 3 machines at work and 3 at home. I haven't had any of the drama that people describe, but usually the people I hear it from haven't actually used it so its no wonder there is such a big descrepency. I'm usually an early adopter and my job required Vista before RTM, so I don't really expect everyone else to do the same.

I need a new machine, any suggestions ....
DannyChoo Thanks, my avatar is taken from a Bjork wallpaper - http://unit.bjork.com/specials/pics/wallpapers/bjorkcom-desktop09-1024.jpg - if you're interested. Bjork rules!
a bento in a meeting during lunch time eh? hehe nice~
"Dak Roland, When I set up my own company, all the machines will be macs ^^" Can I work for you? :D
Vista? No, Tnks!!! I've tested Vista for my company. Many problems of compatibility (HW & SW). Ex: Some UMTS cards don't work, the beta drivers crash. Personally, I'll wait for at least 6 months...
use Vista ... no way, on the net i found a patch for XP, this patch apply on XP the same principe of Vista but it's most better than vista ^^.... well, my pocket is empty, so I don't have the time or the money for upgrade my pc for use vista... Microsoft suxx with vista this year, for proof the action bourse of microsoft falling falling falling... I don't test Mac os but I think to buy an apple in the fallowing month ^^
