Well I am sure you have been waiting with baited breath as much as I have been to see the completed Bandai Perfect Grade 1:60 GAT-X105 Strike Gundam! I managed to find some time last weekend to put it together - and here is how it went....
Bandai Perfect Grade 1:60 GAT-X105 Strike Gundam
Above:Strike parts out of the box. I sprayed the light grey parts with grey and then gave those parts a going over with white afterwards which gave a nice texture. I was so pleased with the texture that I decided not to add the normal shadowing with the airbrush.
Bandai Perfect Grade 1:60 GAT-X105 Strike Gundam
Above:The can sprays are toxic! Make sure to wear a mask and disposable gloves - and protective eyewear if possible. Drink tons of water ever few minutes as your throat becomes sore after a while.

Many people actually snip out the pieces from the runners and then spray each piece - but what I actually prefer to do is to spray the whole runner, snip out the pieces and give the pieces a second coat to cover the snip marks after the first round of modeling. This also saves a ton of time too.

Above:Ready for an afternoon of modeling.
Bandai Perfect Grade 1:60 GAT-X105 Strike Gundam
Above:Strike in the making. The frame underneath is made up of a zillion parts allowing Strike to even do the "Gundam kneeling pose".
Bandai Perfect Grade 1:60 GAT-X105 Strike Gundam
Above:12 hours later and the first stage of modeling complete.
Bandai Perfect Grade 1:60 GAT-X105 Strike Gundam
Above:What happens next is that the pieces need to have a second coat of spray paint to cover the snip marks.
Bandai Perfect Grade 1:60 GAT-X105 Strike Gundam
Above:Many of the snip marks are not visible within the frame so I just spray the limbs and torso without taking apart the whole thing. You have to re-pose the limbs to make sure the paint gets into all the nooks and crannys.
Bandai Perfect Grade 1:60 GAT-X105 Strike Gundam
Above:This is what the complete Strike frame looks like. The head has a light emitting diode but to turn it on, you have to remove the back piece of armour from the head which is a pain.
Bandai Perfect Grade 1:60 GAT-X105 Strike Gundam
Above:Once the second coat has been added, you add the stickers and mark the grooves with Gundam markers. Top coat then needs to be sprayed all over the model to prevent the paint, and stickers falling off.
Bandai Perfect Grade 1:60 GAT-X105 Strike Gundam
Above: And here it is! (you can click to enlarge this one :-) Is this cool or is this cool?
Bandai Perfect Grade 1:60 GAT-X105 Strike Gundam
Above:Back view of Strike - maintenance hatches open all over the place.

Above:Close up of Strike - again looking cool.

That's it for now! I need to wait until I get a quiet weekend with the sun out to take more coolsome pics of Strike - in the mean time, Strike poses on my desk and eggs me on by looking cool.
I made this a while a go but never got to post it - but here it is at last! I hav...(more)

Thanks for the step by step, but can you have it a bit more detailed?? like did you spary the light grey w/ grey and after that dries you spray white or mix the paints together. Stuff like that would really help thanks.

Hey I was wondering is there a special way to spray the cans?
Also, if you use Tamiya Axrylic Paints should you spray some primer on first?
I think that what you did to the PG Strike was crazy good.

your strike looks so cool.
my questions may sound pathetic and also im an rookie in gundam modeling, so, whats a primer and where can you get these sprays and what do they do, do they cover snip marks?
what do you use to cut to get the rest of the snip marks off?

Hi,
Im reeeeally in love with your PG
Strike.
Im ordering the PG Strike-rouge
I was wondering if I can paint it
with the tamiyah sprays will it
like yours.
Im sorry Im really a beginner at painting.
I dont know if the original color of
the strike-rouge would affect the
spray paints.
Also is it fine to just buy the
white,red,yellow & gray sprays.
I would appreciate your reply
Thanks

I Ordered the PG strike but I'm not sure which Sprays and Gundam markers to get.. I know a hobby store where they sell Tamiya sprays (American) and Gundam Markers.. They had many colors but i chose to buy the big fat ones.. 2 silver, 1 black and 1 red... I do have MG kits which i messed up on because the markers were too bing >.< which colors do you think I would need for my strike (Gundam Markers both big and small and sprays).. BTW if im not asking too much.. Ive seen Gundam Markers and Gundam Seed markers.. any difference?

HI.

I have the same question as a few other people here. I wanted to know what brands of paint, gundam markers, and top coats you used, as well as the color shades you utilized for your Strike Perfect Grade Gundam.

Any names would be helpful as we just got both model kits and yours looks awesome. Thanks.

Fantastic pics there! I use the Gundam fine tip pens, and generally airbrush the parts with a Tamiya airbrush and for battle damage ; I use scenes from the series and a blow torch!! Yes a blow torch among other things for that critical stage look!!

Like, ZOMG!! hehe
I ordered mine today from hongkong, bought it off ebay for a total bargain!!
I got the PG Strike and the PG sky grasper with the aile strike all for £115 delivered :D
And some people may think that was a rip off, but I can assure you that I saved £50 according to gundammad.co.uk :D
Ahhh I can't wait for it to arrive ^_^
I might just build the sky grasper first, and if the pg model is kinda TOO difficult, i'll sell the strike for what I bought it for lol...
but I hope it won;t come to that ^_^
Danny, would you say this too difficult for me to build judging that I've built 5 models in my time, and I'm 17??
lol
Thanks!!
