hahaha welcome to germany :P i hope you enjoy it here ^^ the weather is still nice, i hope you have a good time here
Hoping that this gets noticed (replying to first comment) as I think it's deserving. This article is article 1337. Anyone who uses the internet enough must get that! Image: http://i29.tinypic.com/1opx61.png
oh yes! the reply to the first comment to get noticed .. lol hahaha! I love your honesty .. oh yeah I still remember when I saw the post "666" I wanted to post it too XD but I didnt o.0 nice observation btw
I noted yes, as I'm sure I would. but i've never actually flown. Heck I'm the only one in my family who's not left this country yet. Everyone else has been to europe at least twice.
Germany sure seems like a beautiful place! Regarding your question of jetlag, i have'nt travelled by plane to faraway places yet, so cannot comment or vote. Best of luck regarding your presentation tomorrow Danny!
Welcom to Germany Hamburg is a nice city!
Hamburg looks strangely like downtown Quebec, with its strange mix of classic architecture restored and kept proper, yet dotting in with modern where they could fit it in. Bonus points for the BLT Breakfast. You're making me crave that right now. ._.
Oh, and I didn't even answer your question. I go on international flights now and then for work (and sometimes for play), and as strange as it may sound, I found that drinking a fair amount of water keeps lag at bay. I find it makes the body feel refreshed and less ill. I'm lucky enough that I rarely feel jet lag but at times it does get to me. If I feel it getting strong, I usually chill the lag out with a pepsi or coke. I don't know why it works, it just does for me!
Will start to drink more pepsi and water from today ^^
It says on the link you gave for Melatonin that it is illegal in Germany.
probably because coke got caffeine...
Have a nice time here ^^ and good luck for tomorrow...
Jetlag? I start with a little dolphin maintenance ... usually helps me!
LOL!
i don't ever seem to get jet lagged my doc says i have a good 'adaption rate' or something where my body 'adapts' to the situation very quickly and that also includes my body clock i still don't believe a word he said. i reckon i'm just too excited to become tired
Nice pics - do people ever give you funny looks when you play with your Haruhi in public places? Weather looks great - its unusually warm here in the UK now. Hope the weather is good for when i go to Berlin at the end of the month... As for the jetlag question? I dont. I can never sleep on a plane, so i get bleary eyed, but im normally so excited when i get to my destination (usually Tokyo!) i feel awake again. Im sure ive gone over 24 hours without sleep on an average long haul trip.
for jetlag i usually just stay awake all day till the nxt night and tire myself out...so no problem sleeping
Welcome to germany :) Be sure to visit the more shaggy places like St. Pauli/Reeperbahn and its ... uhm ... touristic features ;) http://www.bilderblog.org/2008/03/07/boxerlokal-zur-ritze-hamburg-reeperbahn-st-pauli/
Well Danny is awesome having you in the old country. I like Germany a lot, i had grate time there so enjoy the people and the City( but be carefull of the good beer ^^) Bye for now.
hahaha^^ germanbeer > all :P
Wrong! Bavarian beer > All :D Aspirin works great against jetlag- but you need to take it the day before you fly already. It thins your blood, and makes it easier for your body to adjust.
Aspirin actually reduces blood viscosity (aka "Don't absorb any of you got any true nosebleed!").
After a 25hr flight to UK, I slept for two days! Also the same when I returned home.
I can't say for sure that I will get a jetlag, only been on a flight once in my life, though I guess I will feel it when I'll go to Japan.
Looks a bit dull without all the electric signs eh?
I've... never been on a long flight ;_; Good luck for tomorrow though, Danny :)
Welcome to germany, don't eat to much of our food... it can have the american effeckt... did you check your weight before you left? ;) Germany will lose sooooo bad vs Tokio in this week lol... and i don't even mind haa! In case of Jetlag... nah, my only journeys which could have included Jetlag were 7 times Japan and once U.S.A. ... while just breathing japanese air gives me the kick there is no way i could run into a jetlag there. In case of the U.S. i was with a bunch of friends, was hard to sleep at all being the only girl. ^^;
I've only been to Hong Kong at the furthest; 3 hours hardly counts as jet lag >_< That frankfurter looks really delicious. Tender and full of flavor as you bite in... Mmm... *saliva starts fountaining from side of mouth* :d
Welcome to Germany Hezlich Willkommen The weather is great at the momemt. If you are interested in model trains then visit the adress below, When it matches with your timetable Miniatur Wunderland Hamburg Kehrwieder 2-4 Block D 20457 Hamburg - Speicherstadt Servus
i always suffer from jet lag during flights to my destination but strangely i never got it on my flight back. Worst case of jet lag was a long haul flight to Zürich. Spent more than 10 hours on the night flight without sleep. Was really grumpy for the whole of the next day.
wow. . weather and the skies look more beutiful like the last time i was in japan! i never get jet lag though lol. but maybe i do have it because thats one of the reasons why i might wake up late
get on plane, take off, straight hit the sack, occasionally wake up for meal , sleep again, arrive at destination = no really jetlag so try sleeping all the way back, that might help?? unless you are keen on the air stewardess furthest being is austin, tx. - full 1 day flight transit at narita.
Same thing, here...sleeping on the flight and waking up occasionally to stretch legs and eat keeps jetlag away for me. Give it a shot, Danny. ^_^
Good Luck tomorrow Danny! *I never watched the original Macross so I didn't know Ranka's song was a throw back. I really have to watch Macross now!
Last time I flew with Lufthansa, they sure didn't include Haruhi figures with their meals back then, lol. Good thing most of your income is in Yen and not in US dollars, since USD's currently doing crap against almost any other currency, especially Euros. :D Seeing your UK passport makes me wonder, which is more convenient to travel around with? An EU passport or a Japanese passport should you consider getting one since you live there?
Hamburg is sooo close to me! I hope you like it there, Germany should be really nice. Don't ever eat weisswurst though, that stuff made me very very sick for a whole week once. I still don't feel well when I think about weisswurst. The weather is really nice in Europe at the moment, so you got really very lucky!! PS: are you alone or did you bring your wife?
from his pictures, he definitely has haruhi along..danny which other figures did you tag along?
Just Haruhi, Will use her when talking about figures on stage.
So you left your wife at home? And eloped with Haruhi??? O.O
Don't say that! Weißwurst is great. You didn't eat the skin, did you?
Jet lag? What that? All I need is a looong night sleep and I'm fine the next day. It's a skill. Pretty damn useful one at that. Just like my "no hangover after a boozy night" skill.
Since there's 7/8 hours of difference between my hometown and the country I'm currently living in, I'd get jetlag when I fly back. >.<; Well, what I do is sleep on the journey and then try to only sleep at the right hours (not sleeping when it's day and force sleeping when it's night). ^_^; My body will eventually get used to the time. But what's worse would be the hot weather.. *_*;
I get jet lag too after a long flight. I don't know how to cope with it; it usually takes me one week to get used to it. I can still sleep at night, but just wake up goddamn early >.<
goodluck Mr,dannychoo. 明日あさっての様子の記事を楽しみにしています!
Danny, will you check out and give some reports on Otaku shops in Germany after the presentations concluded? ^^ Oh and, the frankfruter there reminds me of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bangers_and_mash
Germany... has Otaku shops? ^^; I guess it depends of the kind of Otaku, in case of Japan things i would always hit Düsseldorf... as for anime, figures, etc. ... order in Japan, german retailers suck... i don't know if it has become better over the past few years but back the days i didn't have any wire to Japan they sold NGE all 26 Episodes on 3 DVDs 1 Layer for 300+ Euros - total rip off... and the employees at that shop were underpaid too. I have lost my faith since then in germany and anime related goodies. ;) Just my 2 cents.
I usually don't get any jet lag when travelling westwards, especially on flights in the night (for example Hong Kong -> Zurich departs 23:00 in HKG and arrives 06:00 in ZRH), provided that you can get some sleep on the plane. For me, it just feels like a long night. In the other direction though, it's more difficult to cope with. The most important thing is not to fall asleep until night and wake up in the morning on the next day, no matter how tired you are. More or less a hard reset on your biological clock :). I can say from experience that failing to do so wreaks havoc on you biological clock. One other thing I usually do is setting all my clocks (watch, ipod, psp etc.) to the destination time and think in that time as soon you board the plane. Viel Spass in Deutschland!
now when you are in Germany you should come to Denmark xD
Army teaches you a few things, one being that you sleep on ever transportation that you are not in control. By the way, where's you're beer in the picture of wurst? German beer, particularly the local specialty of any given area, happens to be the elixir of the gods
I dont drink ^^;
The tap with the 2 knobs are not that pleasant looking. lol
I travelled a lot, but I've never got jet lag. anyway, good luck for the conference!
Good luck for the presentation Danny! I never really experience jet lag before, as I never flew far away... Mostly 1-3 hours flight... Anyway will there be any video of your presentation for us to see?
Danny-san, not sure if you'd be free to take a day or two trip to Lubeck. A beautiful UNESCO site... While in Hamburg...eat a hamburger? =.="
Jet lag? I don't think I experienced it so far. When I get tired I wash my face or drink some water or even crack my neck and other joints (Ouch? Nah, I'm used to it). If these techniques still don't work, it means I'm really tired. Then I take a nap if the conditions allow me. ^^; "Please respect our chefs and refrain from bringing food or drink into the table."... They rather mean "Don't act like a darned cheapskate to us, with your tourist status. You could afford yourself a plane ticket and all but you make yourself a scrooge when it comes to overpriced food. Now, cough the dough, pretty please?". XD I wonder if there are people that enjoy plane food as much as I do. Looks nice and yummy indeed! So, how's continental Europe so far? With Haruhi around I got no doubts you're doing well. Danny Choo and the Dancho, quite the duo! ^^
wHopee for British passport!
Hmm....jetlag, not really affected by it, at most will take me about 1-2 days to adapt. One possible method I could think to fight jetlag is to either make yourself very tired and keep wake, then when you reach you sleep there (for night arrivals); or you keep yourself awake the day before no sleep, then go on snooze all the way on the flight there (if you're arriving in the morning). At the best for your presentation and enjoy the trip!!
Good to see that there's Kaiserwetter in Germany. I had a nice time in Dusseldorf few years ago (though there was Schietwetter instead). May go back to Germany sometime in the future. Hope you have a nice time in Germany, and meanwhile enjoy the Kaiserwetter over there.
danny, i live very close to hamburg. wanna meet and eat out together? ;) otherwise, have some fun here and don't be afraid of the 6xx people at the conference.
A good way to ease jet lag is to get moving... take a jog or run, go swimming, have a brawl...whatever, just keep moving.
welcome to europe danny! If you have time come visit switzerland :) Hey the best way to avoid jetlag -> go clubbing for a good night till morning. Done this the last 3 times i went to japan and never had something liek a jetlag :) hehe
That sounds like replacing "jet lag" with "hangover" to me :)
Danny even take a figure with him :-)
Wunderbar sehr gut.. Danny lol... --_--
I'm really really bad at jet lagged. I takes me 2-3 weeks to recover. =(
