Japan Office Tour Season 01 Episode 02 "GSC Tour Continued."

Theres quite a bit of Japanese flying about this time and subbing it would have taken me 23 years. If anybody wants to translate this then stick the subs on your blog/site and I will link to it from this article and from the video up on YouTube. Folks who missed the first part can watch it here.
Below: The Good Smile boss Aki-san talks about the pre production Saber. The pre-production exists so that they can see how far the joints move, whether the clothing is soft enough etc etc.
Below: Aki talks about how important it is to get the details of the paintwork prefect or they would end up with a load of disappointed customers.
Below: The latest unpainted pre production model. Note that as its pre production, some of the bits fall off easily.
Below: Aki-san talks about the different softnesses of plastic and how its difficult to do intricate painting on soft plastics - but if the plastics are too hard then the joints become less articulate. He also talks about how they strike a balance between the articulation and paintwork.

The harder the plastic, the sharper the detail. Code 100 plastics are the hardest and Code 60 is used for the shoulder bit that you can see is soft.
Below: The PS2 Haruhi was the first Figma. The Figma project took over a year and a half to complete before they could start producing the figures.
Below: Having a look around the meeting room.
Below: All the Gundams are made by Max Watanabe-san.
Below: Unfortunately I had to cut out a not-seen-before figure as its too early to show it orz.
Below: A lookie around the sculptors room.
Below: My what a big pipe you have.
Below: Some health care material with a box o tissues right next to it.
Below: The surfacer corner. Surfacer is used to show all the nooks n crannies on a model and also acts as a primer.
Below: Lovely cutie Moetan.
Below: The Figure sculpt duplication box. They use this to make copies of a figure as soon as it has been sculpted.
Beknowist that you can pre-order any of GSC's goodies on one of dannychoo.com's following trusted figure dealers.
Below: Some English language learning material in the office.
Next up is Season 01 episode 03 - "Max Factory."

And a quick question - This new series of Japanese office tours wont be just figure companies and I plan to include eroge makers, anime production studios, internet companies etc. What sort of office tour interests you the most?

Haha @ big pipe.

<br>On another note I voted for figure companies, but would also take a look at game and anime making companies.

Danny, if you have more time, please also visit anime and eroge production. I like to see more figures, animes and eroges production.

Looks like you're starting something really cool Danny.

You should go to see Sunrise, Gonzo or Bones :D

And it'd be nice to see the Gundam office, though I dunno if thats even doable.

Danny, Awesome Awesome videos. I believe you can still put iMovie HD on your Mac if you have the iLife install discs, btw. I recommend Final Cut Express though if you want to have more control in your video editing. I'm working with Final Cut Pro and DVD Studio Pro while editing a DVD project for a local Theatre Group. LOTS of stuff involved, but I'm learning a lot, too. Say, you wouldn't need a Video Editor or media Specialist would ya? ;-)

On the English books, those books were hilarious. When I visited Japan in October of last year, I was presented with an English Colloquialisms book and asked to help explain some of the phrases. There were more than a dozen that made no sense in English. It was an eye opening experience to say the least.

I've put in my vote for manga studio, just because manga is my first love. Although I'd seriously be interested in any of the others really. Eroge company would be really interesting and so would an anime studio or a games company.

Buying a figure is like getting a pet; it was made with TLC and you have to give it TLC.

Those MS figures are simply amazing.

I'm pretty sure the tissue box just happened to be besides the magazines; at least, that's what I've deluded myself into thinking. XD

I wish I could have been taught English the magazine way. What kind of magazine teaches someone to square their @55 away(is it even physically possible XD) and sh!+ Tiffany Cuff Links(whatever they are)?

Danny, the Slash zaku phantom showed at 6:01 in the film, is that one of those MSIA or an actual model kit?

if it's a kit, could you ask how they got that slash lance? Because all I've seen so far is a no grade 1/144 version, which did not have such a lance, unless something happened in my absence :P
