Dog poo with arms and legs? Reminds me of Dr. Slump! I always laughed at dogs' clothing... Heck they already got fur, for Darwin's sake! And what is wrong with a wet dog? (hmmm, does that sound awkward?) Yeah, Paris was plagued with dog poo some years ago and had the not-so pleasant title of "City of dog crap" (what an affective term); now it's relatively clean due to drastic laws and measures. Here it is clean... You'd have a much higher chance to fall and sprain your leg with ice (hopefully it's one season a year).

People in Taibei love tiny little handbag dogs, and love even more to dress them up. Some of them look utterly confused at the toys they've become, while others are oblivious to the humiliating status they've been reduced to. As for the matter of poo, an interesting story: my housemate tells me he saw a little chihuahua who had just relieved itself having it's butt wiped by the owner. Apparently the dog looked rather bewildered about this, but then again maybe that's just how chihuahuas look. In any case, I get the impression that people's relationships with their dogs are kind of weird around here.
Sometimes I saw dogs with clothing on, but mostly the small ones. As for purpose, either to look cool or just for cute factor ^^;
Iv only seen a dog with clothes like once or twice where i live, i think there might be more clothed-dogs in the bigger citys though. Doesn't some dogs need clothing during winter? Like those dogs with very little fur that will freeze if its snow and stuff
Martin, you are evoking something strong there. Yes, it seems that little dogs, like most pets are treated to the point they are almost spoiled (like parents would do with their cherished children). This may be due to the owners not having the possibility or not wanting to have a kid, etc. Having strong links with a pet makes sad moments even more difficult this way... The funnier part is that many breeds of small dogs had a less than noble origins. Those would work in mines, chase rats and other pests, be used in hunting small animals, etc. Guess pets can be very lucky sometimes (while the inverse is most true also)...

Naji, this seems logical... But again, when you consider the fact that dog breeds can be imported and made available in very different countries... I'll say again that a dog with naturally short fur would be more fitted to countries with a warmer climate and vice-versa. So, yeah, that's the only case when I'd have no objections or can't make an evil grin on that. ^^ (Yes, yes, I'll leave the stage now)
Dogs in clothes feels pretty ridiculous to me. And dogs in Singapore won't like to be dressed up much either; weather's hot all year round. Perhaps except during the monsoon season.
Dogs clothes are everywhere but when my dog was still alive every time I tried to put a blanket over him for fun he always ran away XD. I still miss him :'(
Hmm i never had a dog, though i knew a lot of people who do/did. These never dressed them up, except the standart collar. The thing which i dislike about dogs more then their poo is their vomit, exspecialy when they eat it just after they lost it. Used to have a dobermann at my last work place in the same office, he was a old dog and it happened quiet a lot... the poo too... all across the office... i loved the macbook there really, took it and changed rooms or went outside coding. Considering this, i prolly would only buy diapers for the dog if i had a dog. This, makes me not wanting to have a dog. I'm fine with my two bunnies, though they will be my last pets forever. I like em but the pain when the time comes to pass sucks, not to mention it would be hard to move them to japan since they are still young and will still life bout 8 years (and i seriously hope to be faster in the promised land). o.O
We have four dogs. Two Labrador mix breeds, an Irish Setter, and a Westie have roaming rights in our house. We never bought or made clothing for our dogs until I got the Westie for my wife as an anniversary gift. Now she not only buys clothing for this dog but she makes them too. She made a sweater for him last month. We've been married for nearly 13 years and she never made a sweater for me. Oh well.

Back when I used to live in Sunderland, there was a guy who dressed both his dogs in the Sunderland football strip. Not really sure what I felt around that one. Watching him give the dogs a Newcastle strip to tear to pieces was quite a sight, though.
Unfortunatly yes, dogs do wear cloths around my area, sometimes. Most is ok I guess, wouldn't do it to my dog if I had one, but the worst is the little dog shoes. That is like torture for all doges. When ever I see them wearing shoes they always walk funny; keep trying to kick the shoes off. It's pretty sad since their owner just stands there and laughs about it.

I have a maltease cross who's the cutest thing, we simply cut his fur in summer and then let it grow out for winter, and he has a light jacket which we put on him to take out for a walk when it's cold too (we generally go out at night).

Winters, here, are cold and long, but you still won't see many people putting clothes on their dogs. Mostly dogs just go out for shorter time periods if it's cold. As for dressing them up in clothes just for "pretty's" sake — maybe they only do it at home, because I don't see it much. Personally, I'd do it if it was hilarious. We have a necktie for our cat that he finds humiliating, so of course I love it. ^_^

@D_Blade: Indeed, I imagine some of these tiny dressed-up dog owners are probably using the poor creatures as an object for a sort of possibly unhealthy attachment. While I suppose it's not really so bad in some cases, I hear a lot of puppies around here get abandoned as soon as they start to get bigger and stop being sufficiently cute. While in some cases dog clothing may make some kind of sense -- in cold places, for instance -- too often it's just another symptom of accessorization and objectification of animals, without real respect or love for the creatures themselves. All in all, quite a shame.
i think thats is good to take care about the poo of dogs, but the idea of having a drees.. for me its bad, because the animals have they own protection-system of the weather and nature.. they don't need nothing more, in fact, i think thats clothes, are bad for the animals.

In America, 85% of dog-owners treat their dogs like their own kind, like a son or daughter. So, yes, at times I do see them clothed and stuff, over here at California they have Dog Beaches, for dogs only! Ha, that would be creepy, seeing a poo with arms and legs...
Really? See I live in America too, but I would think that less people dress their dogs up. They might treat them as a member of the family, but I've never seen anyone go as far as putting them in clothes.

is it safe for dogs to be wearing clothes like that when temperatures can hit almost 30'c?!?! dont forget that they are coverd in fur & the only place they can lose heat is throught their mouths - hence the panting after a long run etc - im no animal lover activist type but id say thats borderline cruelty - if it was freezing cold outside & you put a coat on your dog, fine thats ok but if its boiling hot & you put a jacket on him. he/she is not gonna be too happy. lets see you dress up like an eskimo & go for a picnic right at the top of an active volcano. does that sound good to you? i think not.

I have a dog... he uses something that looks like a mexican "poncho" when it's really cold. Anyways, people dress dogs because they think it's funny, or cute. I don't really mind. I do think some people exaggerates. There's a limit, and I don't think it's healthy to get to the point where you start treating dogs like people. I've seen some pretty scary stuff out there... like people treating dogs better than family, paying a fortune on health spas, throwing expensive birthday parties, and other creepy stuff. Most of them don't really "get" their pets. But anyways, enough talk... I need to take my poo for a walk.

I kind of pity the dogs sometimes when their owners dress them up because they tend to look ridiculous. Here in NYC you see dressed up dogs all the time but mostly the small ones have on the most eccentric costumes. Could dogs cosplay? I dunno but if an owner is so comfortable putting their dog in some goofy looking thing I wish they would put the goofy looking thing on with it. Would make me much more happy. And, dog poo is all over NYC...I guess because its a dirty place in general. I've gotten in my shoes numerous times...GAAAHH!
I was in Chicago a few years ago and I was walking along the sidewalk and saw a big pile of human poo. 0_o My dog has a little jacket that I put on him in the winter since he lives with my parents in Michigan and their winters can be pretty harsh. Whenever he goes out side without it, he comes in shivering plus he just looks so darn cute with it on. That's why I dress my dog up.
Over in my local shopping mall, there's a pet store that sells chihuahua-sized doggy shirts for twice the price of people clothes. @_@ (Though I'll admit, I was tempted to buy a pseudo tie collar for myself because it actually would have made a good cosplay item LOL.) I personally don't dress my dog up because she's super fuzzy and doesn't need extra warmth. She hates wearing stuff like that anyway.

That sign is even weirder than the signs they have in St. Louis where I used to live. It was a red circle with a line through it (like a no smoking sign) and in the center there was a silhouette of a dog squatting to take a dump and something falling out of his butt, but the "crap" was square-shaped. I guess square-shaped crap is less offensive somehow?

I rarely see any dogs wearing clothing around here, but I have seen it in the past. Dogs wearing clothes is just plain silly. I mean, they already have their own "coats", why do we feel the need to cover them up even more. That's basically messing with nature and will make for weaker dogs.
People, people, people.... Clothes belong on people. Dogs have hair/fur, and as such, do not need clothes (except little dogs, because they arent really dogs). So, please... stop it already. My dog has over 9 outfits (with the boots and hairpieces too). I know, it sounds disturbing... they're not overly glitzy like Paris Hilton's dog but they're not dirty and gross either. She's seriously a very clean and calm dog, but was super expensive. It's illegal to leave dog poo in public where i live. Like if someone left dog poo on the ground, the person next to them will call 911. xD
