The Otaku Myth

The following photos provide hard evidence that the myth of Otaku not being able to get the girls is completely false.

As you can see from the following photos, otaku get to wine n dine with a gorgeous girl - and with a different girl every night.
Below: two chicken drumsticks - one for him and one for Nanoha.
Below: Bowl of chocholate curry - notice how the girl is also having exactly the same.
Below: Wine with cutie Louise.
Below: This guy gets to dine with three gorgeous girls at the same time - looks like dessert for all.
Below: And when the otaku has finished dining, he gets to have a passionate night of oolala...
Images via 2chart where you can see even more pics of otaku dining with gorgeous girls.

This is not possible, these guys should go to a psyc XD.

Hum the question is a hard one. Otaku is a term used to refer to people with obsessive interests especially on anime and manga. Since I'm not obsessed with anime and manga, I only care most part for the art itself and a good story in animes so I don't consider myself an Otaku.

And the funny thing is, this doesn't seem all that rare anymore. I remember Danny posting about this maybe a year ago, and at the time there were only like 3 pictures (Though it could've been that he just didn't bother posting that many at the time).

With this many pictures, it's starting to look like a new trend in Japan.

Lol....good for them. I guess I "technically" do this. I like to watch anime when I eat lunch lol, but nothing as extreme as to eat "with" what I see on a screen.

In any case, if I was having a dinner with wine with Louise, I'd watch out... It would probably make her more tsun tsun

I'd prefer to dine with somebody who I can talk to and listen from. Exchange smiles and words and actually see them eat my cooking or I eat their cooking :D

But hey, some actually looks aright in the photo 'cept the chicken drumsticks... o.O

How many here do that?

*ROFL* Ah Danny, sometimes your humor just kills me. I laugh so hard my nuts hurt... oh wait, that's from something else. Anyhow, the gf came over to see was so funny, and didn't quite see the humor in it when I jokingly said "maybe I should get one of those". Evident by the smack upside my head. It's love.

the obvious next step is to combine this practice with some kind of motion sensor and a follow-me flash movie, such as the haruhi/mikuru/yuki ones on the website for the haruhi psp game, so you can dine with someone who follows your movements.

Ehhh this is a hard one to answer for the poll- at best "Otakuish" tendencies. I really enjoy anime and collecting stuff such as figures and model kits from Japan, however going as deep as eroge, those pillow things (I should know what they are called! I am studying Japanese) or staying in my room all the time is just not me. I venture out of the room and socialize with people but not to a great effect- According to the Myers-Briggs test I am a 19/20 introvert with some extravert tendencies (6/20)- so I do like to talk with people and socialize when they arn't being idiots.

Am also in the same category with many who have no boyfriend or girlfriend. I never played the dating game in high school and I won't start now in college; I am waiting for that right time and that right moment to meet that 1 woman out of 3,000,000.000 of 'em. As lonely as that is I push on and hold onto that value that my day is someday. Until then I push on with my studies.

I have sympathy yet share a curious interest with the Otaku mind. Anime is awesome and I think I will enjoy it for life: however Eroge and all this "deep" deep stuff is not really my game. I can understand the otaku mind, yet at the same time I can venture around and try to make the best of my current situation. Thats not to say otaku don't make the best of their situation- I make the best of my situation how I see fit. Power to otaku!

I still consider myself an

since they don't dress like

That's sad to see. Well, if they are glad worshipping their 2D idols, why not? Maybe have they all tried to be in in a relationship and never found happiness.

If you consider this to be part of otaku-ism, please count me out.
I am quite okay with my life for now and I don't think I'd do something that extreme ever in my life.

Man...those things are kinda freaky. (0_o)

Well, I guess somewhere out there, maybe there are some extremely hardcore otakus who just dont have the necessary physical and more importantly, social skills to hook up with a girl, and that can really be sad.

Too much of something is really bad. and moderation and balance is key to a healthy life.

I first started to learn Japanese (Japanese for Dummies!) and ended up watching anime, learning to read bunko and reading manga. Now I have three English to Japanese dictionaries, Three kanji references, two how to write kanji, two Japanese slang books and one Japanese grammar book(most looked over). I becoming an Otaku through learning Japanese. I think it is not bad but I am a bit obsessed on trying to understand this language and by doing this stuff. I think from looking from Genshiken, there are various things that a person can be called an Otaku, sports, video games, anime, etc.. Therefore it is just another word for Elvis fans ;-) I think the emphasis is on the view towards the Japanese culture obsession, but a fanboy/girl is a fanboy/girl.

I own an anime store, anime fan site, going to marry a cute Euro-Asian girl, vigorously played a number of sports from hockey, football and baseball, and have modeled over here in New York. There are a number of people like me that are otaku and are NOT the stereotype. Granted, yes there are some weird people into anime that fit the stereotype of awkward, nerdy, and have bad luck with the ladies (and men) but I doubt that goes for the people here at this site ^_^. Also, extreme nerdyness in some cases is a mild form of autism so they can't help it.

I am an otaku and proud of it! Don't hide it guys; my girl found me because I was into anime so anyone who has problems with the ladies, just be yourself and have confidence and you'll be fine.
