I'd love to live forever. In fact, it's mankind's greatest dream, and mine as well.
boredom would kill rui nthat thought LOLz... uhh if u live too long ....
Forever as an option, yes. I'd love to have the option to live forever. Or just choose when to die. But that's of course, if I could live as an adult for a long time before getting old. I think all "stages" of life are important. But I don't think it would be nice to live in a 90yr old body for 500 years. Life is still too short. Too many things to see and learn, few time. I'd like a life span to at least know the whole world... that would be great.
Nah, I wouldn't like to live in a world like this again...stupid humanity is stupid...but one thing I would miss is my anime lol
i wish i had the working death note notebook, i would control the world
Live forever you say? Well, it has its pros and cons. Living long enough helps you gain lots of knowledge, but it depends on how you will use it. Good? Evil? The other point is that you endlessly see others die while you remain the same and keep on going and probably still have to fill basic needs (food, drink, sleep, etc. Maslow anyone?). In that case it is not good to get attached to someone... This survey doesn't surprise me as adolescents believe quite anything and think they are quite invincible. It's only when they run into walls and hurt themselves that they understand that life is a harsh voyage and that you have to adapt to things or perish. So yeah, as long as you are aware of yourself, the world and wish to change it for the better (but also striving for that to happen) and finally taking things with relativism, it should be okay.
Body and the internal parts aging is the only problem if u want to live forever. But it's kinda pain to see someone close to you gone one by one but you still alive right?
wekk...someday everybody is gonna die eventually and there will be life after death and that's when god decides whether we go to heaven or hell
I think I would like to live a longer time, though forever might not be so good...unless I can be still active and not a vegetable when I'm 200 years old lol. I personally don't have a religion but I wouldn't mind being reborn with a clean slate of mind and body.
This phrase comes real handy everytime I feel like giving up ^^; 「自分の世界は,自分で変えなければ」
"I remember at one point in life where I used to wait for things to happen and then realized that I'm the only one who can change things." Thanks a lot Danny, this paragraph have made me more optimistic in life. :D
It would take me months of thinking to answer that question. I think a lot, and philosophize, i guess trying to answer that would be very intersting.
hmm. AkibaGirls..I finish watching this already XD
really? what was the last episode about?
did the survey talk about shinigamis? if not, ryuk might be dying somewhere. oh wait, shinigamis are slackers(in the death note world that is) anyway, life sux without something to achieve. In the long run that is. And learning new things thru the process of achieving it makes you more lively. (ur soldiers too~~) As for me, finding the way back to heaven is eventually, my goal..sounds stupid but ya..^_^
Everybody got to die someday! It a circle of life. The planet is already over populating, living for ever would worsen the problem. Also people are getting pregnant too young and too much.
I think this is one of those cases where you would think it was great to live eternally. In reality? The only reason we enjoy life so much and accomplish so much is that we have a short time to live. If our life spans were infinite then we would be in no hurry to do anything.. theres always time. The draw back is, we dont care as much to what happens to the next generation, since we wont have to be around to deal with it. Oh, future generations, you are welcome for all the cool stuff we have invented for you.
Danny, thank you for the other two links. Thank you very much.
To quote Raine Maida; Take death for example. A great deal of our effort goes into avoiding it. We make extraordinary efforts to delay it and often consider its intrusion a tragic event. Yet we'd find it hard to live without it. Death gives meaning to our lives. It gives importance and value to time. Time would become meaningless if there were too much of it. If death were indefinitely put off, the human psyche would end up, well, like the gambler in the 'Twilight Zone' episode.
Funny you mention this right now...
i dont understand one thing how can games make you think that you will come back to life after death i play games all the time and i dont think that way
Hi Danny , I just read your article ( archives ) about your idea over death and the goals one should pursue in life....bull's eye. can't agree more...sometimes I admit I tend to go lazy :(....and just one last thing....perhaps you know it now ....but that little girl you described...she suffered from " Progeria " it's dramatic but forges so much respect as to the way they handle their lives...
hhigurashi-style live forever and forever...
i used to be afraid of death. the thought of closing my eyes and leaving everything behind terrifies me. but i came to realise this is because i'm still young. there's still lots of things to do, see and learn. that is why i always tell myself i must make full use of my time everyday to lead a fulfilling life with no regrets.
i changed my answer to NO! I WANT TO GO TO HEAVEN! *jumps for picture*

I think of it this way... If you live forever on earth, you'll have all the time in the world to collect and build all the models a figures you want!!! The average person only lives on this planet about 60 to 75 years, and unless your a crazy collector I doubt you'll collect models your entire life...
If someone lived forever they'd grow tired of it eventually. I wouldn't want to live forever but would like to live long enough to do those things I want to do in life.
If they have a otaku version of heaven in the afterlife i wouldn't want to live forever.
Not really- Id really like to get off this Earth and away from all the evil around us. Id think you would get tired of living after a while, even people in their late senior age (90+) think it is a bit awkward. I do what I can here to better the lives of some people and after death- death can't touch me again.
the human brain isnt designed to live forever. perhaps the transhumanists in the world can fix that so we don't get bored of living in eternity or so that our brains can neglect the feeling called "boredom". as for me, the prospect is very tempting. I would very much like to experience eternity and immortality
i believe in reincarnation and i would love as much as the next guy immortality and eternal youth but i'd eventually get bored. i'd rather have a long life and get things that i always wanted and never regret of anything when death fetches me for the other side... at my age, i have chosen the path that i want to take but it's a very rocky and difficult road to travel but this part of the bargain/package in life ^__^

You don't know life, then how can you understand death?
Now i dunno what this would be under, but i would to be conscious in my next life, whether it be a human or animal, i would like to be able to see it and know, than after my memory would be erased.
I wouldn't wanna live forever or too long for that matter.. Can't deal with all the wrinkles and illnesses :P
live forever? ugh no thanks. well maybe a few lifetimes if they manage to do memories/brains transplants in the future. and oh yeah, if i can afford it, that is, lol. i bet it's gonna be an exclusive and expensive technology. O_o wow, if angels look like that, forget the transplants, lol!!!~
No nosebleed function for the image?! Aww..
I somewhat doubt, given eternal youth as well as eternal life, that people would get particularly bored. People will always come up with new ways to entertain themselves, and if it ever came to everything having been done, you could start again as it would take a insane amount of time to do everything physically and intellectually possible. Anyways, if you live 'forever' technologically, you'll eventually die from the heat death of the universe or something. If the chance comes by, i'll live as long as possible
I'm not so sure i would like to Live forever, after a certain amount of time, your mind would change. THAT i'm sure of.
