I like some games on both platforms... but PS3 is just better!
The MS heads always say they are dedicated to the Japanese markets, then they do stuff like this. I have also heard that their TGS showing was laughable but in all fairness, Sonys was not the runaway success they need. Nintendo have their own event so it';s very hard to judge who had the best event... And yes, the PS3 does get an insane number of firmware updates but they all do something. most improve the home entertainment part, but they also use it to improve the backward compatibility for us poor sods which have to make do with software emulation. I have no idea what the 360 Updates do 99% of the time
ROFL Danny, when you say "STEAMING pile", the answer can only be one. XD But seriously, I don't think XBox is THAT bad. The people behind it are pretty dumb though. Not satisfied from making the huge mistake of releasing a console system that has the same exact problems computers have... which by the way, is one of the reasons people buy consoles for gaming (to avoid such problems)... they released the 360 AGAIN with overheating problems, and took long enough to start doing something about it. XBox 360 would be a nice console, if they released it without those problems (specially RROD), even if it took them 2 more years to release. The console has nice games. Too bad I'm never getting one because it's too much money to spend on something that has 33% chance of turning into a hot hot brick. PS3 is too expensive. But games such as Little Big Planet and Ratchet & Clank Future are convincing me it may be worth the money. And then there's Wii, which I'm probably buying, but I'm waiting to see if they release more games that lasts, and are not just a collection of minigames and gimmicks. I know those types of games are fun, but doesn't last long...
Both consoles have their own great games But I just prefer the PS3 ^^
Wether the 360 is doing crap in japan or not, im still chuffed to bits with mine. Numerous great games is all i need. Despite the japanese not liking it, there are still plenty of great japanese games coming out soon - Katamari, Ace combat, Resident evil 5, DMC4, soul calibur 4 and lost odyssey as well as REZ, every extend, ikaruga and the tasty looking shooter omega 5 coming to xbox marketplace. Ive been a big fan of the ps2, but i really do think sony have screwed up this time. Its gonna take a lot of kick ass games to convince me to buy one. I might wait a year or 2. Gah - listen to me! I sound like im participating in a fanboy war on Kotaku! Good coverage Danny - you must be knackered doing all this so soon after coming back from the states!
the contest is easy, Ps3 will win always at least for Otakus, because most 360 games are made in america, and we otakus want games made in Japan, and Ps3 always haves more titles from Japanese companies, and ero games and rpg games, 360 is always the same "kill kill kill" or extre sports, even if ps3 is more expensive, if there is an ero-game or a rpg game that 360 dont have we will buy the ps3
i dont prefer any consoles really. if its got good games who cares what company its from. The thing about asking a toilet to the toilet got me laughing. "where is the toilet?" "don't take pictures and the toilets that way."
however the 360 does make funny noises which puts me off it sometimes.

I personally don't dislike xb360 but it's games library isn't very appealing for my taste. Most games I see on the 360 are FPS games and frankly I'm not such a huge fan of those. I think Ninja Gaiden and DoA are the only ones I liked. Which btw I'm hoping Team Ninja does a port of DOA on the ps3 :D Games on the ps3 on the otherhand are my type of games...rpgs and action adventure!!
TGS was in fact interesting with that post. I was "What happened to the videogames industry?" when I saw what was in the first post. Anyway, my comments: Time Crisis series still alive? I did not know that... My favorite racing game series remains Burnout. Then for something more classical, I would choose Ridge Racer too. Ero card games... I'm sure they exist, or they have to be created. Would you start a business based on them? ^-^; lol at the Firefox/PS3 similarities (same goes for the PSP). Typo correction: It's Warhawk, not Warhark... even if the latter would sound nice too. And finally, the joke of the day: They say you're not allowed to take photos and they show you where the toilets are located... There are actually many games for the 360 targeted at otakus including idolm@ster and trusty bell (eternal sonata)... etc. I hope 360 beats ps3 in japan, since I don't like sony in general.

It's going to be the 360 for me. It has enough otaku games and a large library of it compared with Sony's expensive machine. Not to mention there's hardly any games playable on the PS3.
I'd buy a PS3 when MGS4 hits the streets. As for XBOX 360 I will never get one. LOL even though you might look young I never thought you had the 18 year old aura with ya.

WOW the PS3 fan boyism is immense here with all the loser otakus that have no life. You all say that the 360 had a laughable display of games but I havent seen any PS3 showcased games besides MGS4. ill do admit though that m$ has some major quality control issues with its console... heck I had to get mine repaired 3 times already over the course of 4 years. Thats like getting it repaired once every year for me... pretty lame microsoft at least the PS3 isnt made in mexico and wont die out on me every year heh.
Great coverage Danny, I was pretty disappointed with the press day also with all the hu ha on no photo thing. They are eying those people with camera like there are going to snipe you the moment you lift your camera.

Both xbox360 and ps3 is good but i have to go with the 360 because all of the games. I still going to get a ps3 any way. Mircosoft legend is about to finish. Halo 3 change the gaming community. I great epic triligy that comming to an end. I hope they show mastercheif face. --Believe--

Danny: LOL....nice to know you don't look like an "oyaji" yet eh? A pity for the XBOX360 in Japan, but seriously MS should fix that console. The 3ROD breakdown issues with it is too frequent and the Japanese just aren't gonna buy that crap with that quality.

In my opinion, both are steaming piles. The 360 is doing "well" in the US but I've heard terrible in Japan. I'm not sure how the Playstation 3 is doing in Japan but it is not doing very well in the US of A. If I had to pick one, the 360 looks appealing but ultimatly I would go for the PS3 (sorry, Metal Gear Solid 4 is on it ^^). I will stick with my Wii ^^ Remember: Phantom Hourglass USA release is October 19th folks!
steaming pile of poo is right for the 360... all the problems they are having iwth the darn thing.. os crashes (on a windows box.. who'd think...) and even reports of the dvd drives mortally scratching the games .. and theres the red ring of death...:D haven't heard of any problems with ps3.. hardware wise... and the multitude of os updates haven't been to big a problem.... now to install linux on my ps3 :D only complaint is that they stoped selling the cheap 60gb unit here for the $600 buck 80 gb unit.. with ridge racer... makes up a bit... if you want the game..
oh btw.. if you buy the HD_DVD drive... the 360 costs MORE than the ps3 with the INCLUDED blue-ray.. and in a year or 2 when the games use more that 9gb.. they'll turn to the blue ray becaseu of the ps3.. inst not what it does right now.. it's what is capable of in a year or 2.. while the 360 festers.. :D

meh, if they keep releasing games for the 360 we will all eventually buy one. Happened when we all switched from Nintendo to Sony. Then again, we might all be staying with the Wii and PS2 since both of them are domainating.
What's the problem with you guys? lol. Even the poll is a bit strange. "which if a bigger turd"? Huh? How is that for a loaded question? Personally, all the consoles look pretty good especially the 360 and the Wii. PS3 is simply lagging behind right now but maybe in a few years they'll have a robust library then. Also, if some people are saying the 360 will 'die in 2009/10', I think that's a good long run. Nothing bad for it.
Buy all three consoles and live a happy life! - having said this I went to buy a 360 Elite and PS3 together the other day and ended up with just the Elite because all the PS3 games are stoaters at the moment. FFXIII, Little Big Planet and wipEout HD will ensure the PS3's fat arse gets a place on my console shelf.
Game selection aside, both systems are rather broken in their own way, though I rather disliked the RROD my 360 had once. I actaully like my PS2. Lots of RPGs and Ero-game ported over. I most prob will get a PS3, kind of like Little Big planet Senjou no Valkyrie Ryu-Ga-Gotoku MGS4 (MGS Fan here) and I guess the SQ-Enix FF games. As for Xbox maybe or I will just wait until MS announces the next console then I can get my x360 cheaper. Only game I wanna play are iDOLMASTER, DOA, DOAX2 and Ninja Gaiden. I might consider a Wii but I rather get a DS instead to complement my PSP. I actually like portable consoles

For me, the only thing that makes me buy a console are the games. Blue-Ray, hard disc, no meaning for me. For the moment, XBOX 360 have more fun games, but the next year PS3 will recibe some wonders, so I will buy one, when the price descend a little... I have a XBOX 360, and is true that have some problems. Anyway, I think is early to respond the question, PS3 or XBOX 360?
Haha LOL at the dialogue. XBOX 360 is crap. I prefer PS3 and Wii due to lack of rpg games on the Xbox though I've itching to play that Trusty Bell game. Guess who's the seiyuu for Polka in the game? ^^
