Just got back from LA last night - was there speaking at Imprint 2007 (a photo taken from the news section here - more to come). Pretty much jet lagged and am on reserve energy which I will use to attend the Tokyo Game Show 2007 today with Akihabara News and Gamers.

You can have a gander at last years coverage before this years coverage starts tonight. If you are thinking of attending, today and tomorrow is press while Saturday and Sunday is open to the public.

Just a quick note to say that I will be dealing with mail, comments, featured feed/comrades activation this weekend.
See you tonight with the start of TGS 2007.

Hey Danny do take care of yourself, and try to enjoy the show. I hope you will be able to photograph Gran Turismo MGS Ninja Gaiden II and other Square-Enix games. Oh don't forget to take photos of the cosplayers and Booth ladies.

When you say "Pretty much jet lagged and am on reserve energy"... It reminds me of Ultraman with the blinking light when he is @ "reserve energy" mode... hahaha

I watched half of Microsoft's pre-TGS briefing that they put up on Xbox Live...it's rather clear why they are doing so badly over there. I was bored to tears. All the speakers were so monotonous and nervous sounding it was hard to listen to.

@ CrazyAnimeTuga FFXIII will most probably be in Video form again in SQ-E mega theater like last year hopefully with that game PS3 sales will pick up

@ CyruzDraxs - the only interesting game from the MS Press Conf was Ninja Gaiden and maybe Lost Odyssey. But beyond the halo games theres not much interesting stuff.

I dont get why people vote for the PS3 all they did was improve the graphics mainly. Unlike Nintendo which is going into a entirely different place with the touch-screen DS and the remote control sensor Wii

Personally speaking, amongst all the consoles, PS3 has the best specifications.

Its not all about the touch screen or sensor components but of specifications when the best (and longest living console) is to be identified amongst the current consoles.

And because of such, it is widely believed that PS3 will last much more longer than the other consoles in terms of sheer performance/specifications.

If you're into playing online and is hooked with the Halo series, then the X360 is your kind of console. However, PS3 did show a promising lineup of upcoming games (MGS4, Killzone 2, etc).

Although the PS3 is pricier than the X360 and there's the common excuse that many games that are available on the PS3 is available on the X360, at least the PS3 won't break down after the 1 year warranty is over or scratch your disk.

PS3 for now! MGS4 pawn every single action and shooting game out there! And now it comes with MGO! sure going for MGS (I am a big fan of it)

Malaysia does not have any official console launch so no local warranty and that is a big big problem if u have a Xbox360 which may suddenly fail due to overheat!

As of this moment love the 360 games, but I can't wait for MGS4 to come out for PS3 which I don't have right now. I been holding out getting a Wii as well, I really need to get it someday though. I think I need a game to push me to get it.

TGS 2007... I want to be there so bad.
Only problem is, I'm on the other half of the world.

A minor problem... NOT!

About the consoles... though I might make some fanboys angry, my opinnion is:
DS - I have and it ressurected my will to play games I had lost since SNES.
Playstation 1 and 2 were nice, but I didn't play them much. I also had a GameCube, which almost got me back into gaming.

And though I was planning on buying a WII, I need more proof that it will not end up as a dust collector.

As for the future, PS3 are looking very very promising.
I'm in love with this game called Little Big Planet. So I'm not shure which console system I'll buy just yet.

people continue to bash the PS3 for not delivering as they wished, but to me the Wii is in the same boat.

Developers have jet to fully grasp the best ways to exploit the wii controls and the library is actually pretty poor. Yes, they have gotten older people into games, but by doing so, they're shifting the market to a place I don't want it to go to, with minigames and 5 minute gameplay taking over a more immersive and absorbing experience.

I have a 360, but I'm soo going to get a PS3 now. Rumble is back!!!! Now the pads won't feel like they're going to break in my hands! Now, if only they would remove the region locking on the older PS gen games...

Danny i'm sure u'll have grate time at the TGS 07, keep going with the photo as much as u can please!

Ur pool i think today it quite dangerous ^^. Videogames could be very personal and what someone likes most, could be hated as well

from someone else. I usually spend a lot of money on videogames (actually more than in figure...don't be upset with me danny ^^), and

they are one of my favourite hobby. I think is impossible to say wich console is the best...but at the moment i feel confident saying

that the Wii and the X360 are doing really good. The Microsoft as we know crushed in to the businnes just buyng every soft-house she

could, and with this no-thinking mode now has so many titles that is quite impressive. I dont want go into hardware specifics and

differences but if well programmed the big X can show really good stuff. The Nintendo with the Wii is just the opposite, thinking on

every game, on the ideas, trying to push the weemote as far as they can, totally anothe way of thinking. I don't have the Ps3 yet,

unfortuanatly at the moment there isn't a game that hookme so bad to buy it but i fear one thing. The ps3 is going to be the winner of

this console war in the long period. An example? Blue Dragon for the 360...3 dvd, on the Ps3 could be just one Blue-ray disk; the

microsoft optic drive is going to be old in no-time if software-houses start to produce bigger and bigger games. One more thing...360

elite, totaly disappointing produce another console just for the HDMI!

Now two words about handheld. The DS i simply amazing, a sea of games, well done ad all lovely..nothing to say more. The PSP. It's

something so unpredictable that try to imagine wehere will stop is impossible at the momet. I'm talking about the PSP with modded firmware of course: h264 movie, iso games, 1so ps1 games, irda comunication, emulation MAME, lots and lots more. At the beginning was a nice personal console, now if you want u and got some time to spend on it can turn it in what you need most. Always with me!

The whole PS3 x360 thing reminds me a bit of Saturn vs PS generation, wasn't the saturn lacking titles that made use of its more complicated architecture (dual cpu)?
Nintendo's entry is the exact opposite to that generation producing cheap easy to sell hardware opposed to the sgi powered N64...
The PS3 is the best hardware (not counting the Wii controller), but it needs games that take advantage of its cpu, enabling better gameplay physics not possible on the x360 or non Physix PC for example (if you ever used a 3D animation package you'll know that physic performance still isn't close to where it should be..). It's up to the developers if they wish to spend the resources to make use of it, classic gameplay works just as well on the 360..

for the non handhelds:

Wii: most innovative, best package.
(it's cheap and got zelda, so who wouldn't buy one?)

360: non innovative but currently best for classic non otaku gameplay.
(ace combat exclusive wtf..!? O_o;)

PS3: best hardware but still lacking software.

@Hiki,

One thing to remember about PS1 vs Saturn was that, as well as being very difficult to program for, the saturn was not a system which was geared for 3D gaming. It just wasn't as good as the playstation for 3D games, but was much better for 2D ones. Unfortunately, the market went for 3D games so you had inferior hardware which was harder to program for.
Very few developers were able to program well for the saturn. even inhouse teams struggled!! Still had some of the best 2D games tho!

PS3 is superior hardware and, although it is a bugger to program, there is alot of power under the hood and the Blu-ray disks will be good for the extra space so it's far from similar. Some 360 games are coming in 4 disk packs now!!! I haven't seen a game take so many disks since Final Fantasy 9 on the PS1!!!

A more plausable comparison for PS3vs360 would be dreamcast vs PS2, with the 360 taking the role of the Dreamcast. Having said that, the 360 is in a much stronger position than the dreamcast was (tho the DC is still one of the best machines ever!!)

@GundamJehutyKai

hmm... I remember that the saturn had some 3D rendering problems (bad transparency effects etc.) and it's original intend was 2D, but it was modified to compete with the PS in 3D and capable of pushing twice as many polygons as the ps1, but only if the hardware was used to it's full potential...
The dreamcast does align well with the xboxes and could be considered to be the xbox0 (windows CE).

Go the PS3!~ Its getting some really kickass games this time round and rumble is back! (Even though i didn't really miss it that much)

Things are lookin better and better for Sony. Now if only they had the price cut so more ppl would buy it. (too bad I already got mine... could have saved some $ =P)

*laughs* I'm still grieving the Snes and PS1 era... Good times while it lasted.
I would be broke if I would ever invest in a PS2, with so many good games to choose from (though I won't).

I don't pay attention to the Wii, it is not attractive to me (lots of conviviality for sure, but what about in-game depth? I don't like to swing a controller like crazy either). The XBox 360 and PS3 rely on more classical gaming, which I like more than anything else.

I'll vote XBox 360... You never know with Sony these days (except for those exclusive games).

To all Saturn fans (I liked it too!):
Don't forget the annoying parts... the RAM cartridges and the memory battery.
If only SEGA had copied the Playstation, I guess it would have lasted longer in terms of success (Still I wonder if there were memory cards invented for that console...).

I loved the Darkstalkers, King of Fighters and Fatal Fury ports on them, as well as more obscure ones such as Guardian Heroes and Albert Odyssey (that were never ported). *Sigh*

O Nostalgia, when you hold my hand and make my old-times videogames player's heart suffer... T_T
