And yes - you can get into the cockpit but only after you complete all the missions within the 8 minute time limit. The missions involve collecting information in a remote terminal. If you do complete the missions then you get to see a special video in the cockpit (ero Sayla Mass video?)
None of the folks in the video were able to complete the mission within the time limit. Costs 800 yen for the RX78 attraction but not sure if they chuck you out after your 8 mins are up.

They should have made it stand, and have dudes with space suits flying around the gundam on wires, that would make you feel like ur on the white base.
