My canon IXY Digital 900IS compact camera that I got 2 years ago has served me well but the picture quality seems to be deteriorating over time. I think there is extra light seeping through the gap that appeared when I dropped it ^^;

Cant carry the Kiss 2 around with me everywhere due to the size so think I want to go for what they call a "High end compact camera."

Here are some that I'm looking at. Most of these come with the ability to attach wide lenses which is a must. Anybody have any advice as to what I should go for?

Akihabara News have a simply gorgeous video of Tokyo - and not just any video. Its taken with the Canon 5D mark II. They have uploaded the full HD video (1.81GB) here but if you cant be bothered then at least give the daily motion version a whirl.

Just got my Kiss 2 and wont be getting a digital SLR that can record HD video unless the price drops significantly.

Looks like somebody is installing Mac OS X Leopard on a PC laptop and selling it branded as "MacBook Nano." I'd probably be tempted to get one even though its not official goods.

Been reading in a few mac mags and on the internets about folks installing Leopard on a PC - specifically mini laptops. Tried once myself and failed though. There is also a device that can be attached to the motherboard called the efix which enables Leopard to be installed on a PC with ease apparently.

Anybody here tried to install Leopard on a PC?

Honda has revealed a second experimental walking assist device that reduces muscle strain of the user's lower extremities when walking or peforming constricting activities for up to two hours before requiring recharge.
While I'm sure its full of high tech stuff I'll never quite understand, it sure doesn't look too comfortable. I hope they at least use memory foam padding, so it'll remember where my family jewels are suppose to be after sitting on them for two hours.

If so then you may be interested in a new direction that they seem to be taking. The UP300x is a media player which projects the equivalent to a 50 inch image in front of you meaning that your gaming and health time fun is also increased by 50 times.
The multimedia playback headsets for listening to music and watching movies (equivalent to a 50-Inch image).

The UP300x features a built-in motion sensor that allows for hands free operation (volume adjustment, etc…), up to 8GB of flash memory, Wi-Fi b/g, USB port, and two Sanyo eneloop rechargeable batteries. It supports WMV9, MPEG-1, MPEG-2 video files, and MP3, AAC, WMA9 audio files. Compatible with HTML 4.01, JavaScript, Flash Version 7, other media contents are downloadable from Nikon's service.

Well its been about 3 years now and the trusty Kiss has just gave its last breath.
It still works (kind of) but it likes to corrupt the memory cards. I thought I lost most of the photos I took today but am slowly salvaging the photos with some data salvage app.

Still not that good at using an SLR so will probably go for the Kiss 2 which is available for 53,340 yen through kakaku.com. Still want to stick with canon as I want to keep using my lenses.
Am looking forward to having a bigger LCD, self cleaning functionality and the live view.

But just wondering if you have any other recommendations?
Hmmm, a factory sample seems to have arrived in the background....

Most Mac users will know by now because they start to twitch just before Apple releases new products ^^;

I love Apples strategy in making their product line slimline and the new casing looks a lot cheaper to produce with their brick manufacturing.

Now that the Mack Book Air problems seem to have been solved, I'll probably get one but it looks like Japan has to wait until late November.

Didn't like the new MBP designs when I first saw them but after looking at the details at apple.com, I appreciate how they are making the design simple. I also personally prefer the glossy screen - I chose that for my MBP too.

Anybody getting anything from this batch?

well apple went ahead and announced a new line of their macbook series. that mean ALL including the relatively new macbook air. i am digging those graphics cards for the pro.
oh and the black finish? awesome
Me wonders whether danny-san will be getting this one.

Some dude has come up with a way to save the Hikkikomori (otaku who don't go out) by making it possible to control Google Street View with a Wii balance board.
Hes made it so that while you walk on the Wii board, the street view advances forward and if you lean on one side then the screen rotates. This means otaku can get out while staying in doors forever - fantastico!

Hmmmm. Not only is this good for the hikikomori, its also great for folks who don't have time (or money) to go on holiday - you can be in Japan in an instant!

If you want to try this out then you are going to have to break an arm - you need a mac and knowledge with java, jetty and jsonp > intructions here ^^;

The perfect watch for the Japanophile. I would have got this watch straight away if they sold these while I was still in the UK.
Folks who have been to Tokyo will recognize these as the electronic bulletin boards which tell you when the next train is coming or how many mins the train is going to be late due to somebody jumping in the tracks. The watch however only tells the time - no train arrival schedule.
The price for these are 25,200 yen for a metal or 23,100 yen for a plastic strap from Seahope Japan who dont know knowt about SEO because I cant even find their official site.
