Live Action Gundam

Gundam.info has announced that there will be a live action movie of "Gundam RX78 - Hajimari" - "Hajimari" meaning "Beginning." They also named the actor for Amuro which will be Hiroshi Tamaki who you may already know from shows like Nodame. More info as soon as I get it.

Bootleg Gundams and Figures

Member Gordon has more pics of bootleg Gundams and Figures found at his local store in Singapore. Items with yellow stickers are half price of what originals cost. Does this mean there is a tacit understanding that yellow-sticker-items are bootlegs? Have any of you purchased or would purchase bootleg figures knowing that they cost half of what originals cost? The thing is that some original figures can be discounted up to 70% off the original when it comes to a sale time. I notice Amazon Japan discounting heavily when they order too many of one figure. Some of the discounted figures are crap but some are good.

Gundam Statue

A bronze statue has been placed at the south exit of Kamiigusa station in Tokyo and cost 20,000,000 yen to erect. According to the article at Yomiuri, Kamiigusa was where Sunrise first set up. While the young folks may like the statue, the old folks dont seem to care for it. Would be interesting to know whether that 20 million yen was tax payers money. If it was tax payers money, would you as mayor give approval for the bronze RX78? Via Gunota and Alafista.

The Metallic HCM Pro's look great but the annoying thing about them is that they bring out the standard plasticy version (which one goes out to buy) and then they release the metallic version after. A new shop called SuperModelers just opened in Akihabara and is dedicated to modeling. Find a load of Gundam, mecha and vehicle kits and the tools needed to build em. They also have a display booth so you can watch somebody building stuff and learn some techniques at the same time. Located on Chuo Dori (the big road in Akiba) - map at the bottom of this page. Not sure if the romanization is supposed to be "Nadle" or "Nadore" from "ナドレ". But could this be the first Gundam with hair?! Actually, come to think of it Gundam Noble had "hair" but it was piloted by a female. But I guess the Gundam 00 boys do look kinda feminine. Does this look good or bad to you?
