Idolmaster Harder Better Faster Stronger

At first I did not feel like putting it up here but since Zoniku did put up the other one of the girls "riding", I figured this one definitely needs to be shown to others.

Idolmaster girls doing the song "Harder Better Faster Stronger" by Daft Punk, now I really like the song after I got shown this, really awesome stuff, since considering that I know how it got pulled off and it definitely was not easy to sync and stuff and get all the right animation. Kudos to whoever did this.

The vid and full article thanks to Artefact of Sankaku Complex, click on this link to go to the article.

Edited Postscript: Um, the emphasis is not on the limited figure above, but on the vid at Sankaku Complex lol.
By Panther on 2008/07/17 04:45

My Recent Cosfest VII 2008 Coverage

Alright, I am sure you have seen this quite a few times before now, so I will not harp on the coverage. In any case here is my rendition of the recent Cosfest VII 2008, a huge cosplay event held here in SG, over the past weekend. Because I covered it rather extensively, you may find some of these posts tl;dr or with too many images, so I will have to warn you now that some of them can be very very picture intensive.

My camera is also only a point-and-shoot, so some of these pictures are really going to be sad compared to what you can find of other blogs' coverage. For an aggregate post of all known blogs so far that covered the event, Team Blue has a post for it, click on this link.

Because I decided to cover it so extensively, being one of my first events, I split up each day into 5 parts. Here are the links if you are interested, yes the Haruhi mentioned a few times now in Member News and on others' blogs is in one of the Day 2 posts.

Day 1
Part 1 - Internal Shots
Part 2 - External Shots

The Mechanical Battle - Gundam EXIA vs. KOS-MOS
Part 5 - Bleach Cosplay

Day 2
Part 1 - Internal Shots
Part 2 - The Unknown Externals (Warning: pic-spam)
Part 3 - The External Knowns
Comic Relief - Caramelldansen & Bleach
Part 5 - Cool, Cute, Great & Awesome

Now I would appreciate if anyone could help ID the characters I was unable to, or others were unable to, but if you do, please reply as a comment for the post itself and not here.

Hopefully this coverage was done well enough, this is among the first times I am doing such a thing like this and on such a big scale with such a puny camera.

Peace.
By Panther on 2008/07/10 15:05

I am a sucker for blue figures and this one looks ok...not to mention fully castoff. However the price is really steep, so she goes on my wishlist as I have way too many preorders on my list.

The finishing looks a little sloppy however, but the face and hair color is otherwise fine. No idea though if they really will put enough effort into doing this figure well. What do you guys think, from the sample so far? The sample review is not NSFW by the way.

We also experimented with night shots, in preparation for future night shoots if any for figures. Many thanks to Wcloudxkumo for the wonderful night shots.

Ruri Kiraneko A 3D Creation

Recently, member Shin posted on the release of a new girl-making game, Tech3D Custom Girl. His post can be found here.

I did test that game out for a time while it was in demo mode but I felt after some time that the models, even though they were primarily 2D, were too lacking in detail for me to make a blog mascot with. Not to mention, they were blocky. So I had to switch to another program, forgive me for the lateness but I only heard about Artificial Girl 3 recently.

I still prefer AG3 for its models, but unfortunately I cannot make the girl pose for shots unlike in TDCG, and it gets irritating. Still, the graphic models are a huge update and I believe if anyone actually wants to make a girl, AG3 or Schoolmate are better choices. I never tried out the latter though, so someone else will have to review that one.

So which program do you prefer, if you wanted to choose between the three? Note that all of them are NSFW in some way, but girl creation is probably the most winning point for all of them, especially AG3's.

And of course, if you are interested, do read Ruri-chan's self-introduction here.

Edit: Member Miki-kun brought up the point that these games are not for making girls, primarily. I am not touting these games as girl-making games entirely, but rather that they are an option outside of other possibilities, for people who may be unable to, or too lazy to, draw their own mascot either by hand or using digital programs such as Maya and the like. I hope I cleared that misunderstanding. :)
By Panther on 2008/06/16 21:13

Many thanks to Artefact, who runs Sankaku Complex for this wonderful gallery of elite cosplayers. This Deedlit cosplayer and the Tifa cosplayer (forgot her name, I know she is very famous and you all have most likely seen her pictures before) have to be the best of the lot.

Also take note that a few of them in there are idols...one of them being AV idol Asakawa Ran (cosplaying as Lulu from FFX). No NSFW shots though, but there are a few that might be...provocative. A good look. Thanks to Artefact for this wonderful find!
By Panther on 2008/06/07 14:25

AH has posted up a review of the sample of Kotobukiya's upcoming Elwing, and so far, the sample is looking very good. Glad that I preordered her. The small base stand may not appeal to some, but the finishing and all looks real good right now. I am just hoping the final product lives up to this.

Elwing is slated for release in late June. On your get-list?
By Panther on 2008/06/02 22:21

DOAX2 Venus On The Beach Sample

AkibaHobby has posted a review of the sample of DOAX2's Venus on the Beach figure by Kotobukiya. The inflatable killer whale (which is in fact a member of the dolphin family, you get the pun intended here) is a nice touch.

I never played DOAX2 so I am asking if this was a new character in the series, since I only remember 7 characters (all except one from the original DOA fighting game series) from the first DOAX.

The figure looks great in this sample review but I wonder if the final product will be just as good. I never preordered it or anything, but if it looks really nice in the final product I might get it. What do you folks think about the figure itself though?

Thanks to AkibaHobby for the sample review.
By Panther on 2008/06/01 22:02
