Hey folks. Its not technically otaku or japan related, but some may like it, and its related to figures. I just finished a new CG character. It was very quick to make, and i just wanted to try something different. Its based on Jesse Ventura's character 'Blain' from Predator - a film im sure youve all seen. Heres the sorta relevant bit: Do any of you collect those fancy designer vinyl toys? Stuff like futura, bearbrick, dunny, amos, kidrobot etc... I dont collect them, but i do think they look pretty cool. Theyre quite big in Japan, and i saw lots of them in specialist shops in Akiba. If you dont yet know what i mean, im talking about stuff like whats on sale HERE I would love to have some 3d models made into physical models. If any cool japanese toy manufacturers are reading - gimme a character modeling job! :-P

Just this second read this on the BBC news site. "A 7.0-magnitude earthquake has struck Japan's main island of Honshu, reportedly injuring several children and a teacher at a day care centre. The epicentre was in Akita prefecture, 82km (52 miles) north of the city of Sendai, at a depth of 10km (6.2 miles), according to the US Geological Survey. The tremor rattled buildings in nearby towns and in the capital, Tokyo, 390km (240 miles) to the south. All bullet trains in the area were automatically shut down."
