Other than being the day Americans celebrate our independence, it is also the start to another summer of outdoors activities with family and friends. Of course that includes lots of summertime foods like ice cream! I don't know about the rest of you, but I really enjoy ice cream!

By the way, if you want bunnies with your ice cream be sure to check out more great photos of necoco-san from ぱるぱる通信局＠ＮｉｋｏｎＤ３
By Edward on 2008/07/05 10:31

Airport Sunset

Battling a nasty headache this evening but I thought I would share a photo taken my honeymoon.

This photo was taken from the 37th floor of the ANA Gate Tower Hotel. My wife and I always enjoy staying at this hotel. Several good restaurants in this hotel, especially the Stargate on the 54th floor. Very excellent service and food for dinner and a great buffet breakfast each morning. The hotel is also near the Rinku Premiun Outlet and just a short distance into Wakayama where we often go to hotsprings.

We fortunate to get a corner room this stay which allowed us an almost panoramic view of Kansai International Airport and Wakayama.

I just couldn't resist this beautiful sunset as soon as we walked into the room. Yes that is the airport out on the horizon. Such a beautiful view on an early June day... The tangle of highway you see on the mainland is the meeting of the Kansai Kuko Expressway -heading out to the airport- and the Hanshin Wangan Expressway.

Sorry the picture couldn't be a little better, but this is some of first I took with the new PowerShot SD 870IS.

I will see if I can find a few more photos if you all enjoy this one.
By Edward on 2008/07/01 09:47

Edward's iMac Desktop

Thought I should throw my current desktop into the fray for everyone to see.

This is my iMac 20" you are looking at right now. My MBP uses the same wallpaper pool but apps and dock configuration do differ between the two machines. Sometime in the future I cam post my MBP desktop...

Well, let me start with the desktop (Finder) itself. I have a rotating pool of about 77 photos and images currently. Mac OSX has a built in image rotation so no need for an extra app. to change one's desktop picture. Currently you are looking at Elven Fairy from dollipoptart's (Tricia Gosingtian) flickr stream. Maybe some of you know of her? Also a cookie for anyone who can name the model before going to Tricia's stream.

I also have Yahoo Widgets! Flickr Widget. It displays my favorite flickr photos. Current photo is akai kasa from enggul's stream. Twhirl is running just behind the widget. It displays my twitter stream.

My dock is set to magnify. Often I reduce the size and need the magnification. All of the icons to the left of Twhirl are assigned to the dock. Everything else I access using Quicksilver which is the window in the middle. These are also the programs I use on a daily basis and are almost always running. Also keep folder in the dock for quick access.

From left to right: I use VMWare Fusion since it's more stable and versatile than Parallel. Remote Buddy allows me to use my Apple Remote for nearly every app. installed. Apple Mail, iCal, Things, Together and NetNewsWire keep my life all together. Safari is my primary browser. Usually FF is for dev work... iTunes to keep me going mad -listening to mihimarise mihimaru GT right now-. Of course I use .Mac Sync, Time Machine, Spaces everyday as well.

Current workflow here is Photo Post-Production. Usually this involves -from left to right from Twhirl- Photonic which allows quick access to my flickr streams, Photoshop Elements has just the right tools that I need to compliment Aperture -I do us CS3 often as well-, I think everyone is familiar with Aperture 2.0. I have other programs that fit into my PP Photo Flow but this post is too long already...
By Edward on 2008/06/28 07:36

I know Danny has talk about smoking in Japan before and how much it bugs him. Slowly things are starting to change, much to my pleasure as well.
