So you've seen a couple of models using the no-paint technique and here is the 20 page+ guide to help you achieve the same effect. If you are reading this on the top page, click through to view all images.
Im not going to translate everything as most of the pics should be straight forward but will cover just some of the pics. The basic technique is to roughen up your gundam and whack on some dirt. I ideally you want to finish off with some matt top coat as the main point of this technique is to get rid of the shiny plastic out-of-the-box feel.

P16 > Different parts of the runner. A="Runner". B="Gate". C="Parts". D="Runner tag". E="Part number". There are two types of modeling nippers available - one for plastic and one for the Gates.
P17 > Take note of "D". The part has been cut by a nipper and sanded down to leave hardly any noticeable snip mark.
P18 > Shows how you can also use a cutter knife to get rid of the attached gate.
P19 > Different types of top coat. 光沢 or "koutaku" means gloss. 半光沢 or "hankoutaku" means semi-gloss. つや消し or "tsuyakeshi" means matt or flat.
P20 > The trick here is to press firmly to give a consistent mist and not press as if you want to save as much top coat as possible. If you can get hold of a 5 yen coin (they have holes in them) then stick that between the nozzle and the can to control the volume.
P23 > Shows how you can use some of mums sponge from the kitchen to roughen up the surface.
P24 > Use glue for parts that have hideous seams and then sand down.
P26 > If you end up sanding down the panel lines, use a nearby sharp object (like the dentist kit that you carry around with you) to redo those grooves.
P27 > You may want to use some Gundam markers to go over some parts.
P28 > Going over the panel lines with Gundam markers or a touch of paint.
P29 > Using weathering markers and pastel to give your model the bad n dirty look. Use top coat when you are finished to keep that dirt on.
P34 > Some tools. That red thing is a for polishing/sanding down surfaces.
P35 + P36 > Loadsa gundam markers.

So you thought you would give the no-paint technique a go but would like more scans to reference too - how about these scans of HGUC Zudah?
Come to think of it - I should probably dig up the several page how-to on this technique from a previous Dengeki Hobby and give it a quick scan - lets say next week shall we ^o^

Haven't really noticed how good Legend looks until I saw the 1/100 scale model that came out recently. Quite a few modifications have been made to this model and the metallic finish is rather coolsome too.
Are the bog standard recent 1/100 scale kits that much different than an MG?

Verde Buster Gundam is the new n improved version of what we saw in the original Seed series and this is a kit that somebody made modifying the 1/100 scale kit of the original Buster Gundam. The official release of Verde Buster is however a HG which will be of a disappointment for some...

Feast your mince pies on this scratch built bust of Strike Noir - very nice indeed but would look even better with the arms n legs.

So the first episode of Stargazer has been available for download since last Friday - for those who have seen it what do you think? While the animation was nice there was not enough action and we only get a glimpse of the Gundams launching into battle at the end of the series. They do this so that people who paid to watch the first episode also pay for the second episode too...

You would be wrong thinking "hmmm - nicely painted Gyan" because this master grade doesn't have even one lick of paint...
The new fad in Gundam modeling in Japan is not to see how well you can scratch build or modify a kit but to see how good you can get it to look without paint. The technique used does require a certain amount of skill and probably more courage than taking an airbrush to yer kit.

What you do is get fine sand paper and sand down the surface to get rid of that shiny just-off-the-assembly-line finish. Then you do the panel lines and use some of the Gundam weathering markers to give it the bad n dirty look. Once thats done then its a good going over with Top coat.

Have not tried out this method yet but think that giving this a go on the HCM PRO series is a good place to start because they are not that expensive and you wouldn't end up crying so much if you screw things up.

I know there are mixed feelings re MG Gyan amongst us but I'm sure many of you Gyan haters will like the modifications done here. This is how I would like to do up my Gyan and doesnt look too difficult.. ^^; And I do prefer this color scheme to the default purple.

It's good to see that Bandai seem to be coming out with more MG's of late although I personally would love to see more PG's (and maybe less of the HGUC's.)
These are the prototype models of F91 but I think I've seen more recent shots of the completed model online somewhere. I notice that the mags cant get the latest and greatest out to us as fast as the internet can. Generally, Toy n figure news is already old by the time these mags hits the shelves - makes me wonder if they are worth buying - worth it for the pics of models but probably not for the latest news...

The next MG out this month is Gyan and it looks like the Gundam community over here are going wild over its release.
The MG technology seems to be getting better and this release of Gyan goes one above the Gundam OWY release where the thigh joints can slide back n forth independently of each other. What this means is that you can create a more realistic "running-for-the-bog-after-a-night-of-spicy-food" pose.
Folks in Japan can pre-order theirs at Amazon for a measly 3,320 yen but will have to wait until the 31st.
