For me, keeping the radicals that indicate the meaning of a character, or at least show it's history, are key in helping me remember characters and interpret characters that I've yet to learn. Older simplifications (like we see in kanji) tend to preserve the radicals, but these newer simplifications frequently don't, and that makes it much, much harder for me to learn. For that reason, the primary benefits I see to simplified Chinese are better legibility on smaller/lower resolution displays and faster writing (although when... ( コメントを見る » )

Personally, as some one learning kanji, I can't stand Simplified Chinese. The Japanese simplifications tend to be very natural and the radical etymology is clear. On the other hand, most of the uniquely Chinese simplifications seem horribly arbitrary, lose most if not all of the identifiable radical etymology that's so important in memorizing characters, and, more my personal opinion, it's awfully ugly. Of course, that's just my take on it. What's best for your site? Well, do you know if you're being block... ( コメントを見る » )

I've somehow never looked closely at the Star Ocean games. This looks promising, which I really don't need... because otherwise I'll have to seek out the previous games in the series. That's a lot of time I don't have! Any info on the picture? Source and description of character if it isn't promo art for the new game? ( コメントを見る » )

While I found Taiga supremely annoying, I enjoyed the heck out of the first episode. The characters are shaping up to be more than just cliches, which is why I was able to put up with it, so I expect the annoyance provided by Taiga to be severely reduced in the future (and, indeed, that's what those who've read the novels tell me I can look forward to). Well, hopefully this doesn't include After Story. I say that because I don't want to have to wait over a year to be able to watch it subbed! DVD releases interest me, but wide-spanning licenses can nix fansubs for shows still airing... which kills any interest I have in a DVD, since I won't buy something I haven't seen. ( コメントを見る » )

No cast-offs here. I won't buy it if it's a cast-off. It's a good thing I do my research, because otherwise I'd have had some surprises. I'm amazed at the reviews that don't cover something like that. ( コメントを見る » )

She looks amazing, but unfortunately I won't buy cast-offs. A matter of principle for me. I notice that the main data page doesn't note that she's cast-offable. This is an important data point for both sides, methinks. If I can't know for sure a figure isn't cast-offable, I won't be buying at all. ( コメントを見る » )

I did not have a graduation ceremony for high school, since I enrolled in college early, and I left college to pursue my career when I discovered how irrelevant my degree path was and ran out of money. I wouldn't have gone to any graduation ceremony if I'd had one, though. However, when I later graduated from a brief seminary program which had a small cap-and-gown graduation despite only being one year of night classes, my mother insisted on driving several hours to finally see me "graduate". She was so insistent on t... ( コメントを見る » )

I've signed up, so they're not blocking non-Japanese users (but you definitely need some knowledge of Japanese to fill out the forms). Of course, now that I've signed up I have little direction to go in. I fear my account will sit unused until I'm buying Japanese versions of my games next year. ( コメントを見る » )

I never see it in commercial shops in the US. On occasion it might pop up on the walls in things like child care centers. I do see it more in South America, but again, mainly on things for children (playgrounds, etc.). It's just out in the open there instead of behind closed doors. ( コメントを見る » )

Danny, have you considered having an iPod hooked up to a non-helmet speaker? Then if you still need an in-helmet feed, you could use a splitter and an FM transmitter to get it there. Cheap and easy to do with much more widely available parts. ( コメントを見る » )

That is excellent. It's simple and effective, and it should be the standard in figure press releases and reviews. May you start a trend. ( コメントを見る » )

I grew up speaking only English, and my Japanese family gave me no help in deciphering their language. Since reaching adulthood, with a little help I've learned basic Spanish--proven enough to get around by myself in Hispanic countries--and about as much Japanese as Spanish. My knowledge of Japanese is much more "spread out", though, so it's less immediately useful. At the end of this year I'm headed to study each of those languages full-time for a short-but-not insignificant period of time in their native countr... ( コメントを見る » )

On my old RAZR and on my new iPhone, I have pictures of Nagato Yuki from Suzimya Haruhi no Yuutsu. Somehow, it just seems appropriate. The "normal" folks don't ask too many questions, because the images are of her playing bass, so they assume the guitar is the focus. ( コメントを見る » )

I grew up in the country and have seen animals raised, hunted, and slaughtered for meat when I was a child. It is really very different from exposing children to violence. I wasn't scarred or traumatized at all (Nor was any one else like me), but instead I learned the reality of where food comes from, and understanding the sacrifice taught me a very healthy respect for life--both human and animal. It says... "Ha- Ha-" (Panting) "Can I have it? Can I have it?" "Horo~n" The "horo~n" is a takeoff from "Nyoro~n", popularized by a fan 4koma derived from Suzumiya Haruhi characters, which you can see here: http://wiki.sos-dan.com/wiki/Churuya-san_Manga ( コメントを見る » )

If it's an ero content article, I don't read it/comment on it. The more ero content that shows up on the front page, the less often I browse the site--especially at work! I know I'm in the minority, but that's the way it is. One thing to think about, though... There have been many times I wanted to give an article link to a friend or link to an article on another website, but I can't because of the risque nature of the navigation content/ads/part of the article/whatever. I'm rather sure that what y... ( コメントを見る » )

Those who spot air pressure as the cause are correct. From the Railway Preservation News forum: "To get non-pressurized tank car to implode, all you need to do is hook up a hose to a bottom unloading valve and open the valve while not opening the relief valve on the dome. Gravity will cause the liquid to flow out with no air flowing in to replace it. The tank will crumple long before it empties. " ( コメントを見る » )
