Darth Guy's Comments (54) [Page 2]

A while back, a friend of mine asked with a sarcastic tone, if I had a lot of toys to play with while I was young and I just brushed it off with an ignorant "yes". And when i was in japan for the first time last year, i bought so much action figures and Gundam model kit that my worst fear then was that my suitcase burst opened in public and all these toys just exploded out. Then later last year too; after the Japan trip, my house was renovated so i have to pack everything up in boxes and until now, months after the reno is long done, I've yet to pull out all my used to be Prized collection from storage...
Am I finally coming out of my OTAKU shell?
I even feel a bit embarrassed stepping into a toy shop nowadays...
I guess I'm finally becoming happier being an Adult then wanting to stay a child on the side all these while. ( View formatted comment » )

I saw the trailers of the 2 movies you mentioned. I guess it's from his pre Mimic days. Will try and look for them in local video shops.
Thanks! ( View formatted comment » )

Judging from the video above...do you speak with the funny japanese accent to be polite to the locals or to fit in with the locals?

Cant hear any Brit accent from it at all.
OOps...i meant Can't, or Cannot. ( View formatted comment » )

Been a BIG BIG fan of Guillermo del Toro since Blade 2. Everthing he does, I'll watch!

Even if it's a Barbie doll live action movie....i doubt it'll happen, but you'll never know... ( View formatted comment » )

I switched on the Time Machine just to try it on a iBook with a 500GB external HHD and in only 2 days, I'm down to only 100 over GB left. The worst part is i don't even have anything on the iBook in the first place. I download some movies and they go straight to the EX-HHD.

After switching it off and downloaded quite a number of HD movies now, i still have 300 over GB left. I guess there must be some settings i can tweak to limit the Time Machine use but so much space in just 2 days...

Anyway back to the main topic about backing up data. I do use RAID 0 on my PC. Some how, having 2 copies of the same thing written on 2 different HHD automatically make me feel safe when i sleep at night and not afraid that my harddisk would crash while moving files and deleting some other at the same time... Bad experience....cried over it for a while...then found some data recovery software and saved everything again and was so relived I was singing and dancing over it. ( View formatted comment » )

Actually i think the battery life for my iBook lasts longer than most PC laptops.

Been eyeing MacBook Pro for a long time now, but just can't justify buying another Mac when i still have 2 perfectly working iBook. Truth is the MacBook itself is a good choice for everyone; instead of the Pro, because it's smaller and lighter and works just fine for "normal" use.

That's what i was thinking too.

There isn't anything really promisingly new after Call of Duty:Modern Warefare and Crysis.

Looking forward to Tom Clancy's ENDWAR too. ( View formatted comment » )

Hey Danny, you're the 2nd Brit(former) that i know of that actually started out with the Commodore 64K. I would have thought you guys in Britain would be more into Sinclair Spectrum as i did with my Spectrum 48K even though i'm a SIGAPORU Jin desu.

Anyway, Both eastern and western game have good and bad ones, you should have a 3rd option: Both for your desert island question.

I love Final Fantasy XII and School Mate and even BiKo. I felt so guilty playing a pirated version of FF XII, which was so well made, that i went out and bought the Original version and the Official game guide too.

I love my Starwars series games From the west and Civilization and especially CRYSIS! I spent SG$400 upgrading my PC so i could play GhostRecon Advance weapon, then when Crysis came along... SG$4000 to build a whole new system so i could play it in Very High setting. Not to forget the big ass 40" Samsung F8 LCD TV...

East vs West?

I say East and West. ( View formatted comment » )

Thank you very much for that still confusing explanation. I knew if i "fail" epically enough, some real Gundam Master Dolphin Polisher will come fore and answer my original question.

Sp from what i understand from you post is that Gundam 00 is not of the same time line as the original Gundam series or in fact any series that have ever been? e.g. First Contact of Star Trek has acutally nothing at all to do with the original Star Trek TV series? ( View formatted comment » )

I read from the wikipedia article that the creator of Gundam didn't want anything to do with and so they can't put "Gundam" in their title in anyway.

I saw some clips of it from youtube too, it's a real piece of shit. ( View formatted comment » )

My young pandawan, Gundam 00 is about the end of A.D. date and the beginning of the U.C. date. Hence Gundam "00".

The whole story of Gundam 00 is the Origin of "Gundam" and the "Beginning" of Gundam.

Have you watched ep25 of Gundam 00 yet?
Pay close attention at the end of the whole show. ( View formatted comment » )

How much of a "beginning" are they going to Begin with?

Will it have anything to do with Gundam 00? ( View formatted comment » )

Even though the idea is great(actually i've been waiting for this for the longest time), we all should have known better by now, Japanese are the GODS of anime, but when it comes to Live-Action movies, everything from storyline to props to the acting becomes acid washed to no better than any B-movie no matter how hard they try.

I really hope they don't screw this up. ( View formatted comment » )

It seems like there's always these 2 kinds of Si-Fi fans: The Star Trek type Fans and The Star Wars type Fans.

I started out as a Star Wars type then moved onto Star Trek only after First Contact(all time favourite Star Trek movie). After that, there's the Enterprise TV series. I even kind of like Voyager too(6 of 9!!!!)

From what i've read about this new movie, it's a prepuel to the original TV series a few hundred years after Enterprise series. ( View formatted comment » )
