I find it cheaper to get Gunpla from KL. I tend to go to Timesquare and Lowyat. Prices in Penang were good recently when Toon Shoppe in 1-Stop Plaza had 20% off all Gunpla. I got a Wing Gundam Zero and SD Gundams from Char's Counterattack :) My first MG was a white Unicorn Zeta. It now acts as a paperweight with an arm broken :( After working with MGs, HGs just loose their appeal. I sometimes get a 1/100 NG if I can't wait for the MG ro be released (eg Gundam OO stuff). I find Gunpla modelling a very good stress-relieving act... ( View formatted comment » )

There are a few shops in Penang with fairly recent stuff. Some also take pre-orders. However, I usually buy figures online as it's cheaper even with freight taken into consideration. Unless there is a sale on in the Penang stores, I tend to head down to Kuala Lumpur to buy my Gunpla at a cheaper rate. ( View formatted comment » )

Are all Zetas of similar build? Noticed your mention of the upper arm joints. I have a white Unicorn Zeta whose left upper arm snapped off. My only option now is to super glue it back but this will mean no transformation. Sigh. ( View formatted comment » )

Where was the original article of this incident printed? Nearly all my figurines are bought online. I hope the Customs guys aren't going to confiscate any. Frankly, I find buying figurines online is cheaper than buying from the local stores, even after factoring freight. ( View formatted comment » )

Definitely on my want list. I love massive mechs with massive guns. Unfortunately, I've got 12 kits in backlog currently. I'm running out of space to keep the unopened boxes. ( View formatted comment » )

I keep my figures in various locations - a glass cabinet the size of 2 Ikea detolfs, a few shelves on my bookcase and parts of my desk and computer table. I'm starting to run outta space. Hopefully, this will reign in my Gunpla and figure spending. ( View formatted comment » )

That's one cute figure, maybe a little too cute for Elwing. Somehow, I feel the figure's portrayal of the character is a little out. But it sure is kawaii :) ( View formatted comment » )

I pre-ordered this beauty from Play-Asia. Had to wait nearly half a year before I finally received it. One of the best Kanu figures ever released :) ( View formatted comment » )

I've stacked all my Gunpla and figure boxes on top of my cupboard and bookshelves (roughly 8"x 2"x 4" in volume) ( View formatted comment » )

Depending on how the final painted version looks like, this is a likely to buy item for me! Need more funds soon. ( View formatted comment » )

I've been working on my Gundam Unicorn for nearly a month now. Got 9 kits unopened in backlog (3 of them MGs). Hmmm, #2,4,5 applies to me I guess. Work eats up my time, causing motivation loss to build Gunpla :( Sites like dannychoo.com also seem to influence my buying sprees (Danny, my bank account hates you!). I find buying PVC figures instant gratification as opposed to the hard labour required by Gunpla :P ( View formatted comment » )

Seems Singapore is really "happening" for otakus! I wish Penang would have events like this. Seeing the MTG cards does bring back memories. I gave up MTG once I started collecting Gunpla and PVC figurines last year. Lorwyn was the last set I played. Just could not afford so many fund-draining hobbies at one go :P ( View formatted comment » )

My love for figures started with Danny's review of the Max Factory Kureha last year. Although I failed to acquire one for myself despite searching thoroughly for months, I just recently found and bought one at a rather hefty premium price. No regrets! I've got 1 and a half cabinets full of figures and Gunpla now ;) ( View formatted comment » )

I'm born and bred in Penang, Malaysia :) Bargaining is part of our everyday culture although you can't bargain at malls with fixed pricing. Getting a good price in Penang sometimes doesn't require much bargaining. Some sellers really offer dirt cheap prices if you know where to find them. ( View formatted comment » )

I'm pretty ok with speaking in front of people. I've become quite used to delivering presentations to my company's senior executives. All thanks to the training and support I got from the Toastmasters program. Anyone wanting to overcome their fear of public speaking and/or improve their communications should seek out the nearest Toastmasters club or go to www.toastmasters.org. ( View formatted comment » )

Is that really someone's personal room or actually a shop (although I've never seen even an anime/hobby shop with so many figures crammed in one space)? ( View formatted comment » )

I bought a Model GD Gaia Gundam before. It was a terrible experience trying to even get the parts to fit each other. Such a waste of my money and time. Never again will I even consider buying one, except maybe for spare parts. ( View formatted comment » )

That's a nice Kanu figure there. Cooler than the Alter figure I pre-ordered for next month. That price is way out of my budget. My most expensive Gunpla purchase was a Extreme Blast Destiny MG at MYR280 (~9200 Yen) when it just got released. I regret my impatience as I have yet to start building it and the price now has dropped to MYR240(~7900 Yen) :( ( View formatted comment » )

My heart cringes at the poor treatment those figures I getting. I'd love to offer them a better home :) I display most of my figures and Gunpla in a glass cabinet (twice the size of Ikea's glass detolf) in my living room. The remainder take up whatever space my bedroom desk has. I have all their boxes stacked up on one of my cupboards. ( View formatted comment » )
