Otaku...everything? Well my store sells doujinshi so I figure that that is perhaps the epitome of otaku...yes? I'm the equivalent of the modern day traveling salesman as I travel to anime conventions in North America 2-4 times a month to sell my wares. I also travel to Japan at about once a month to procure new product.

Unless you live out in the inaka, I don't see the point of owning a car if you live in a major city area in Japan. Not to mention the cost of license and the annual sha-ken. >.> ( View formatted comment » )

Don't know. Nice covers don't necessary mean the content will all be so great. Maybe I'd pick up #18 since a friend's imouto has an h-manga serialized in there. ._., ( View formatted comment » )

That one picture appears to be from Meguro station. I don't go there often...so it is a wild guess...well not so wild since the sign under the tracks says Meguro *something*something* to the right. Saying things like what you mentioned reminds me of colleagues who tended to say stuff like "yoisho" when doing any activity...even when not exerting force. I guess that is to show that they are in fact exerting force like lifting heavy objects. I didn't get it then, but I say that on occasion in the US and a lot when I am back... For the 4th year running, I will be attending summer Comiket. I am hoping for some nice RPG-related doujinshi, but chances are it will be mostly of the popular series. I really do wish the bigger circles would do some stuff on the games by Falcom. T_T ( View formatted comment » )

When I lived in Okayama...the realization that I wouldn't find deodorant here didn't occur to me till I ran out. I am thankful I had time to return to the States for the winter holidays to stock up. But it could be worse...smelly salarymen on a train is not as bad as smelly, sweaty otaku at Comic Market. ( View formatted comment » )

Given the fact that I sell these at anime conventions in the US...I'm still somewhat weirded to see so many in open display like that... >_>;;; ( View formatted comment » )

Every time I return from Japan I get horrible jetlag. Not sure why. On the way there I am fine though. Flying in business class 70% of the time with the 180 degree lie-flat seats does help though. ;) That's a nice hotel room you have in Germany. Comparable hotel in Tokyo would be at least 30,000 yen I'd imagine. And it would be smaller too! ( View formatted comment » )

Thankfully nothing bad found in food yet. Either that or I just don't pay attention...uhh.... Where in Tokyo was that Samurai Sanders? I remember the maid one in Akiba. That was fairly silly. I also thought it was silly that so many people were taking pictures of it... ...and then at the end of the day I take out my cameraphone and take a picture too... >_>;;; ( View formatted comment » )

In my experience living in Japan...almost no one ever observes the traffic signs for cyclists. ...if nothing else, perhaps the police were bored. I don't see many cyclists in general in Akiba on Sundays though. ( View formatted comment » )

Travel to Europe. Then save the rest. I've been to Japan way too many times so I don't think I'd want to go back for that reason alone. :/ ( View formatted comment » )

Eesh. That place is too crowded. For a good place to eat without as many people, I like Ikebukuro's Sunshine City building. It's older (which might explain lack of people compared to Akasaka Sacas) but a good choice of restaurants. And it is convenient for doujinshi events and the local shops for guys and gals. For slightly ritzier, the mall next to JR Kawasaki station is also pretty cool. It also houses a California Pizza Kitchen for all you expats that miss the stuff...or something. It would be nice if more eroge are translated in English, but unfortunately with the exception of J-List and a handful of titles that Mediablasters/Kitty Media puts out...that's not going to happen any time soon. For the popular titles that everyone wants, it is going to cost more than either company (or newcomer) is willing to spend. This is considering only license fees. Another problem is that for most people who are into eroge, most people are content downloading. The few of you who aren't like that, I don't mean to insult... ( View formatted comment » )

Lovely stuff, Danny. As someone who was a part of the foundation of the present company I work at, there is something to be said about the enjoyment of running a start-up. Now if only I had more time to work on our neglected website... ^^; ( View formatted comment » )

Wasabi is tasty stuff. I remember when McDonald's in Japan had a promotional fish nuggets item that came with Wasabi cream dipping sauce. Surprising good! How often do you visit Akihabara in that Stormtrooper suit of yours, Danny? Of the many, many trips to Tokyo over the last 3 years I don't think I've ever had the chance to catch you and your dancing. ^^ ( View formatted comment » )
