When I vacationed in Japan we took our huge roller suitcases on the trains and subways with us and we were in a group of ten or so. Not sure if anyone thought it was rude, but no one said anything to us.

Theres a mixed onsen in the Hakone area that is very popular with English speaking tourists. They have an indoor and outdoor mixed bath area. Its quite low key compared to the big resort onsens, its a family owned joint. But we had a great time there. And if you have a big tour group there you can all get naked together if you feel the need. Unfortunately there wont be any hot local Japanese girls in there though.

During my trip to Japan I visited quite a few places and I have to agree that Osaka was the worst. It basically felt like the dirtier parts of China, like a 2nd world country. Which is odd given how modern the rest of the country feels. Its the only place in Japan that I have no interest in ever returning to. ( View formatted comment » )
