Probably my best strong point is the fact that I'm a quick learner. Throughout my past jobs I've been able to do tasks I hadn't known they existed, and that helped me to choose the skill set I'm more comfortable with. I like to learn new idioms and am I'm curently trying to improve my English, studying Japanese and also starting to study a bit of Norwegian. Through past web design interests, as well as my through current job, I developed HTML, CSS, Javascript, MySQL/MS SQL, PHP and (a bit of) Python skills, and seek d... ( View formatted comment » )

I agree it's a bit weird and I do it all the time ^^... I think each language has a "subjectivity forte" wich favors a different way of thinking. There are ideas easily expressed in English that are actually pretty hard to grasp in Portuguese or Japanese and "vice versa" (Portuguese and the other Romance languages are the best for cursing, heheh). Now I'm curious if this hybrid thinking is a normal thing for speakers of two or more languages... never asked anyone about it, but I figure it's something normal... ( View formatted comment » )

My native language is portuguese, and I think my english communication is kinda OK... I'm studying japanese and plan to try a proficiency test this year. I had a japanese teacher at college who studies this process of learning a second language early in life, more specifically the situation of brazilian children living in Japan. There are cases where the kids feel "ashamed" because of their parents' lack of fluency in japanese. In some other cases the children, failing to develop an "internal" linguistic ability... I'd probably enter on panic mode, but since it's an obvious thing to do I'd then lay on my back trying to calm down... ...and then, dunno, probably ask her for an autograph, lol ( View formatted comment » )

There are nice korean restaurants down here in São Paulo, but none as cheap as this one. Can you tell where in Tokyo is this one you found, Danny? ( View formatted comment » )

I sleep about 6 hours per night, basically because work (9-18), college (19-23) and transit time take most of my time. I sleep a lot on weekends, but as the week goes by I increasingly start to feel like human shit. Since I can't get anything done right while deprived of sleep, I wouldn't trade life span to spend more time awake. ( View formatted comment » )

I think the problem in killing dolphins is the risk of extinction... You breed cows for food, but dolphins are killed in the wild. So I say "kill both, as long as they are bred for it"... :P Btw I never ate dolphin meat, lol... is it tasty? ( View formatted comment » )

lol, here in São Paulo you got underground trains that run from 4:40AM to about 0:10 (1:00AM on saturdays) but I don't see them as dangerous as XSportSeeker does... late night busses and surface trains are more on the dangerous side though, and most of them stop running at midnight (maybe they turn into pumpkins or something :P). Some of the main bus lines keep running 24/7, despite the long intervals between each arrival during the small hours ^^"... When I'm out at night (wich happens fairly often...) I usually wait ti... Wow, paiki, I very rarely see this kind of treatment to brazilian nikkeijin around here. Then again, i'm of greek and portuguese descent, and recognize that could explain a lot, since I'm not "inside". Anyway, most of my friends and current acquaintances are of japanese descent, and I work at Liberdade (a known japanese neighbourhood), so maybe that should expose me to witnessing some of this behaviour. Are you from Sao Paulo too? Obviously I don't ignore the usual japanese "jokes" around, and even my japane... ( View formatted comment » )
