Great question! Currently I really like: Kasumi (DOA) Hitomi (DOA) Asuka (Evangelion) Winrey (Full Metal Alchemist) The two girl's from Tony Taka, forgot their names and their anime/game And for a while, just because she's so sweet and helpful and thoughtful, Kasumi (Akane's sister from Ranma 1/2) ( View formatted comment » )

Danny, If you're thinking about a beach vacation, there are a lot of places in the Philippines where you could go. Boracay is one. It's a bit commercial now some say, but you'll still be hard-pressed to find whiter sand anywhere in the region. :) There are a lot of other beaches and surfing and diving spots. This reminds me of that 80's cartoon, Spiral Zone. Anyone else remember that? Can't seem to find anyone who remembers that show. ( View formatted comment » )

I've never been to Japan, but would love to visit sometime. As far as things in Japan I don't like, I'd say the cost of living. From what I heard its pretty expensive, especially in cities Tokyo. That and some of the more perverted perversions. As for what I really love about Japan, the Japanese people to be exact, is their attitude of being the best they can be. Maybe Danny can comment on this since he's living there, but I get the impression that the Japanese have a drive to be the best at whatever it is their profe... ( View formatted comment » )

If it were free I'd get a Candy Girl and maybe one or two outfits, to have a change of scenery once in a while. ( View formatted comment » )

I recently got a 3Gzh Athlon X2 with 2 gigs of Ram and a Geforce 8600 Videocard. And the most demanding game I've got is StarCraft: Broodwar Expansion :P But it does cut render times down by half compared to my other machine, which I plan to upgrade when my budget allows. To Chong Mizunaga, cheaper DVD's in Malaysia? Are we talking of original DVD's or "casual copies"? :) Casual copies are pretty cheap here, something like US$1.50 each. Original DVD's cost pretty much the same as elsewhere in the world I gu... ( View formatted comment » )

This may sound strange but I don't particularly like that view. I'd prefer a derriere that's nicely framed in a high-cut swimsuit rather than a piece of string. :) ( View formatted comment » )

Don't know about second hand manga, but there are a lot of second hand cars over in the Philippines from Japan. They just get converted to left-hand-drive and run for easily another 5 plus years. ( View formatted comment » )

If it were like a normal cafe where they charged you for the food and there happenned to be cats around and cat-themed wall decorations and cat-costumed girls serving, I'd definitely pass by in the event I came to Japan. More so than a Maid Cafe. But if it really is 500 yen (around 200 pesos here, just short of daily minimum wage) to look at the cats for half an hour, then, no thanks. I've got a great colony of cats who one day decided to set up shop in our garden. ( View formatted comment » )

I love the concept of the pic, sort of like a class pic with the Gundam. It's pretty well done but as a lot of people have said the mobile suit is a bit plastic-y. Some grunge might help, and maybe defocusing the upper part of the Gundam a bit, but otherwise, nice job. ( View formatted comment » )

Swimming isn't required here in the Philippines, however some colleges have pools, which I believe is more for the swim teams. I believe you have a choice whether to take it as PE or not. I remember we could choose what to do in our PE classes. In "single or doubles" PE we could choose between Judo and Badminton for example. I wanted Judo since I was the biggest in my class and figured few people could throw me but got locked out and got Badminton instead, which turned out to be fun. Personally I prefer seeing girls in con... ( View formatted comment » )

Yay for the commnet post bug dix! :) As I was typing earlier this morning... Don't know if it's plausible for Goodsmile to make these figures because I don't know much about who's licensed what, but I'd like to see some 1/7 scale figures of the Xenosaga girls, Shion, MOMO, KOS-MOS and TELOS in their swimsuits. Would also like to see Chi from Chobits, Hitomi from Dead or Alive Beach Volleyball, and Winrey from Full Metal Alchemist. Winrey could be in a bathing suit or something, even though I don't remember ... ( View formatted comment » )

I just love Macross. ^_^ Like so many others the reworked Robotech version was a favorite of my youth, so I'm not too familiar with the original Macross storyline. I did see Macross Plus and Zero though, loved Plus, Zero not all that much. What's the setting for Frontier? Is this years and years after Plus? Would love to see this properly dubbed into English. I know a lot of you are purists when it comes to language but I just find it easier not to have to read and watch at the same time :) ( View formatted comment » )

In response to one of the earlier posts that says the poster saw Christmas as more of a pagan holiday, well, it's not :) It's the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, our lord and saviour. Here in the Philippines I remember there was a town that made it illegal to use X-Mas in any public sign, and insisted it be the full "Christmas." Sort of putting the "Christ" back in "Christmas" Though I recall someone telling me that the celebration WAS placed on a pagan holiday, the Winter Solstice, in ... ( View formatted comment » )

After all the negative things we can say about the series, you have concede that it was a PHENOMENON. It that sense it was well done because it hit its target audience on the mark, namely kids who can bed and plead with puppy-dog eyes for their parents to buy them the merchandise. Personally I thought Digimon had more of a story, and was not as insulting to older viewers. :) ( View formatted comment » )

Yeah, she's pretty but looks like someone other than Kasumi. Still, it's one of the cheaper Kasumi figurines out there right now. You could probably get both versions for one of the Black Max Factory ones. Although that one's the best one, it's the cutest. ( View formatted comment » )

My problem with giving an accurate decision as to my fav Gundam series is that I haven't watched them all 0_0 Over here unless you've got a fast internet connection to download torrents, or buy "casual copy" DVD's you'll never be able to see 1/8 of the Gundam series out there. Which is funny because we're right next door to Japan so to speak, and we have a 24 hour Anime Channel, Animax. I've only ever seen Seed, Seed Destiny, Wing, Endless Waltz and 08th MS. And Wing and Waltz I saw when I was in V... ( View formatted comment » )

I'm sure there are bullies everywhere but here in the Philippines it's not such a big problem, at least where I went to school it wasn't. I don't remember any bullying at all actually. I know some kids called each other names and such, but for my batch at least, you weren't "in" if you didn't have a pet name. Most people just took it in stride. What's a bigger issue here is that of fraternities and serious injuries/deaths from hazing and initiations. ( View formatted comment » )

If I'd have to choose one, I'd choose drawing I suppose. It takes a while to get the hang of, especially if you're still trying to decide what style you're really into. Even Anime has a lot of sub-styles if you think about it. Retro-70 and 80's almost realistic, super deformed and all that. Has anyone considrered 3D? :) You have all three thrown in together, drawing sculpting and even programming, if you want to get that advanced. ( View formatted comment » )

I use walkthrough and guides and move/combo lists for just about every game I play, especially RPGs. The truth is, most of the games, particularly RPGs, *need* guides. I finished Final Fantasy XII in 103 hours and I still don't have everything. And I'll *never* have everything, because I opened chests I shouldn't have and now it will never work again, and there's a sword or shield or something I'll never get. Now how was I suppose to know that I wasn't supposed to open the chests? If I checked the guide early ... ( View formatted comment » )

I went to watch the movie with not-so-high expectations after the last couple of full CG movies with "realistic" characters, namely Polar Express and Final Fantasy Spirits within, which were not a bit disappointing when it came to facial animation. Beowulf on the other hand was a pleasant surprise. It was far better than the other two, though still not as good as having real actors. I always just thought that they did everything in 3D for bragging rights, because this could just as well have been done live with CG elements. On... ( View formatted comment » )
