I'll keep an eye out for that, thanks. ( View formatted comment » )

Indeed, once this little guy goes into Gundam's belly as the core block, that'll be the last time anybody sees it anytime in the foreseeable future. I could also care less about most transformation gimmicks, but even though I've no interest in them myself, at least they give the Gunpla engineers challenges which bring about better quality models all around. To be fair, those ver. 2.0 Zakus look pretty good out of box. ( View formatted comment » )

The feet are pretty neat. Just finished the second leg today. Will probably build the waist unit and finish the bottom half tomorrow. By the way, you mentioned in that Ex-S post that you use files to clean up the clip marks. What kind, exactly? I'm thinking I might want to switch from sandpaper, if I can find suitable tools. Could I have an email address to send them to, or would you rather I post them somewhere and give you a link? ( View formatted comment » )

Having gotten started on the ver. 2.0, I can indeed confirm that it's very plain in comparison. Nice ver. OYW, in any case. I look forward to seeing the two versions side by side. ( View formatted comment » )

Tamiya gold spraypaint produces lovely results. Gundam marker doesn't stick to it quite as well, so if you want the lines darker you'll probably need to go over them a time or two. I've never found priming to be necessary with this paint, nor have I used this detergent method. Pretty easy stuff to work with. As for cleaning up panel lines, a pencil eraser may do the job without rubbing off the paint. Acetone will certainly work, but probably will take the paint off too. ( View formatted comment » )

As it happens, I've just finished building an SD Char's Zaku as a present for my sister. I'd be happy to give you a picture, but I'm afraid the tracing will be left to you. What kind of pose do you want? ( View formatted comment » )

Painting's always best, though, even if a kit's passable unpainted. Never hurts to put in some additional effort. ( View formatted comment » )

At least they had the sense to include both wings, rather than split them between Enki and TTGL. Sheesh. Nice of them to throw in the Lagann head too. Since they're not pushing it any further than this (we hope), I guess I'll throw this guy on the list. ( View formatted comment » )

Now that I think about it, the bad guys indeed always seemed to have trouble attacking a Gundam mid-combination. I wonder how many times in ZZ Gundam or Victory Gundam somebody said "He's docking?! Don't let him dock, no matter what!" and by the time they were done yelling Gundam had already docked. ( View formatted comment » )

Thanks for the reassuring comments, guys. The inking's passable, but given how fine the details are on the core fighter, it would've been best to either clean it up a lot more so I ended up with finer lines, or use another method (perhaps an ink wash) to bring out those details. Unfortunately for the core fighter, he's not going to get out much once Gundam gobbles him up, so I wasn't terribly concerned about making it look fantastic. ( View formatted comment » )

Sure looks like it. We've finally crossed into multi-jointed-foot territory, and it looks like this guy can kneel and crouch like nobody's business. I'm certainly excited. ( View formatted comment » )

I'm pretty sure all spraypaint is more or less toxic, and I wouldn't be surprised if the markers are as well. I do all my spraying outside, of course, and manage not to breathe too much of the stuff in the process. I'll try to reign in my impulsive desire to eat my Gundam markers, too. XP I'll definitely post again a time or two when it's finished. ( View formatted comment » )

Ah, Tallgeese, my first mobile suit love. I've built this kit, too (the HG 1/100, right?), as the first Tallgeese. Sure would like to see an MG. Looking forward to seeing how this one turns out with your weathering. ( View formatted comment » )
