In my case, it's an issue of separate identities (not to be mistaken for a split personalities--which in many instances can be serious matter). In my personal life, I have no issues with discussing my otaku habits. But, in my professional life, it is obvious that the best policy is to remain quiet. That is not to say that I am afraid to say anything (I will if something happens to come up), but it probably would be of no benefit to go about flaunting my otaku nature. The argument that it is cheaper to execute an inmate in the United States as oppose to incarcerating a convicted felon is false. If you factor in the costs of required appeals on top of the convict's incarceration, then the cost in the long run is much greater. As for my personal beliefs, I would gain no solace from having the killer of my loved one executed. I would prefer that they remain in prison for the remainder of their life never knowing freedom again and, hopefully, living with the regret of their action. ( View formatted comment » )

Where I reside make-up, farts, and cell phones may sometime be the least of one's worries. Many times, you deal with filthy train cars covered in filth, aggressive panhandlers and loud-mouth passengers with far too much built up anger.
