It looks good to me so far. The pose is rather interesting, but I can't say it's wrong. It just defies physics, and that's not always a bad thing. The drawing reminds me of a sort of... Tengen Toppa Kingdom Hearts ;) I'll look forward to seeing this colored. ( View formatted comment » )

Does "Otaku" mean you have to enjoy looking up the skirts of plastic female statues? What exactly does it take to be labeled an Otaku? ( View formatted comment » )

Gantz was a good series that went sour during its last story arc that, I'm assuming, deviated greatly from the manga. As far as just bad series overall? There are so many I've rejected after just one episode, but I'd have to say Gilgamesh is one of the worst I've tried to sit through. There was so much potential in the plot and especially the design, but the show was poorly written and directed to the point that I couldn't continue watching after eight or so episodes. I sat through Tokko a while back, but that was anoth... ( View formatted comment » )

I don't know. Modern Madhouse stuff seems to be heavy on the technical proficiency, but light on entertaining substance. I'm mainly commenting on previous collaborations with American companies: The Animatrix, Highlander - The Search for Vengeance, and Batman - Gotham Knight. All of them have looked pretty, but have ultimately felt sterile, unsatisfying, and even boring. It's a shame, since early Madhouse stuff was cutting edge in so many ways. There's just something missing now. ( View formatted comment » )

RESIST THE OTHERS. This is really the jewel of the Code Geass mech lineup as far as I'm concerned. The offshoot figures are comparable to Revoltech, and I'd say the plastic is actually better. So stick with this figure and don't cheapen the purchase by buying the rest. ( View formatted comment » )

The best stories should give you a strong emotional reaction. I felt it at the end of Gungrave and Eureka Seven, just to name a couple that I remember off the top of my head. ( View formatted comment » )

Unfortunately I feel like I've peaked as far as my anime fandom is concerned. I used to be rabid for anime, but there are only so many emotional highs I can get from something before I stop being moved or impressed. I guess you could call it "too much of a good thing." I'm still in love with animation in general, but right now I'm taking a break from Japanese Anime and watching some classic 1980's American cartoons like Masters of the Universe, etc... In recent years, the anime offerings just haven't been ... ( View formatted comment » )

I think people are too quick to complain about everything and tear it to shreds. Anyone who played the first Diablo knows the opening level was just a standard field setting with colorful grass, trees, streams, buildings, etc... If the new game were to feature an entirely muted color scheme, the visual would get old very quickly. I, for one, like to be able to actually SEE what's on the screen, rather than have everything so dark and grey that I can't make out the details. And anyway, who really has the right to complain about a g... ( View formatted comment » )

You also have to remember the obvious item of women shaving their legs. While that may not be much of an issue with certain ethnicities, it certainly is one with caucasian women. The thing is, when you go your entire life of however many years without seeing a female with underarm or leg hair, it's shocking when you do see it. Does that automatically make it disgusting? Well, it shouldn't. If a human's body is designed to grow hair in certain places, who has the right to tell them their body's natural form is disgusting or u... ( View formatted comment » )

I can't seem to find the guy's homepage, but the guy playing the villain there is the "Urban Ninja" from YouTube. He's a great stuntman. Check out this video for some fun action: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2kJZOfq7zk ( View formatted comment » )

I can't watch the whole video, but was that Revy from Black Lagoon in the preview image? I never finished that series. There weren't robots in there, were there? ( View formatted comment » )

I wish that video had the Macross music the first time I'd seen it. Such a catchy song. Anyway, this video clearly shows there's a possibility for anime-style robots. I wonder if we'll actually get to see some in my lifetime. ( View formatted comment » )

Looking good. I passed on the regular Gurren Lagann since I already have the Konami Impact Model, but I'm probably going to pick up the Full-Drillized version. ( View formatted comment » )

I love Revoltech, but I've actually been selling off a lot of my figures. I just can't afford to get every single release. I'm not really familiar with this guy, but he looks impressive. And just look at all those accessories. How was the series he was from? Full Metal Panic, right? I recall trying to watch it, but losing interest. ( View formatted comment » )

WOW. I've still never gotten one of these kits. I would much rather prefer an action figure. How do these work, though? Are they like Gundam kits, completely unpainted? Or do they look a little more finished in the package? ( View formatted comment » )

A bit stiff-looking in the neck/shoulders, but I like the bulky look. Can't knock the colors, Red Man. That's classic Iron Man. Just be glad it's not bright yellow plastic. ( View formatted comment » )

I like to pick out my kits in person, and the Code Geass models sadly aren't available in my area yet. There was a big model kit boom earlier around 2000, but it's cooled off considerably since Gundam Wing interest waned. ( View formatted comment » )

That's excellent. I'm having trouble grasping the scale of the plate, but I'd like to have something like that as a novelty for dinner time. That is, if someone else bought it for me, of course. I'm sure it's pricey. ( View formatted comment » )

I guess it depends on your definition of "mecha." There are so many types, I'm not sure what the definitive version would be. With Mazinger Z, though, the pilot only really docks with the robot, rather than riding inside of it. And anyway, I think the term "Super Robot" applies much better to Mazinger Z, as "Mecha," to me anyway, implies Gundam or something along those lines. ( View formatted comment » )
