The frequent mentions of GSC, Alter and Max Factory attest to the quality of their work. Most of my figures are from these companies and I'm able to preorder them with the assurance that the final products won't disappoint. Megahouse is very reliable and well-priced for the kind of quality and detail you get. Kotobukiya is average but occasionally comes up with gems like the Shunya Mirei-san, whereas Yamato has been picking up great sculpts in the past year but usually fails to deliver once the figures are put through the mass product...
