I'm a high school English teacher from the Philippines. I've been watching anime for practically my whole life, though I've only been really into it since I was in 5th grade. I'm a geek who strives for balance in everything.

Games currently playing
SRW Alpha 3, SRW J, Neverwinter Nights 2

I think Exia is made of win. Because a lot of SEEDs mechs had rather uninspired designs, I tend to gravitate towards more "unconventional" takes on the Gundam, especially the head. Pentagonal camera? Thick, solid v-fin? Pretty neat if you ask me. ( View formatted comment » )

The light rail systems in Manila vary greatly between the three lines. The original LRT-1 is hot, old, and last I checked, reeks of urine. The second system, MRT-3, is fast and on time, but is often packed full and is very uncomfortable. Thankfully the air conditioning is cold. The newest line, LRT-2, is spacious, fast and clean. Stations accurately predict when the next train is coming. ( View formatted comment » )

Using the trains to commute here in Manila is sometimes annoying due to the small size of the trains. The newest train line is pretty spacious, but the most-used one along our main thoroughfare is always pretty cramped. You have like five people cramming through a door designed for one. -_- Thankfully I'm taller and broader than most other people here, but it's still pretty hard to squeeze in when I'm carrying a huge backpack with my laptop inside. I really really suck at UFO catcher. >_o I think I'd probably end up killing the poor crustacean by dropping it on the side of the prize chute, and I won't even get it. ( View formatted comment » )

The Philippines (especially Manila) has its fair share of pervs. As been mentioned earlier, a whole section of every train that passes through the MRT system here is devoted entirely to women. It's often a very tight squeeze and I find myself holding on to the overhead railings with both hands just to show that I'm not feeling anyone up. ( View formatted comment » )

For celebrities, it's a good thing--I guess it helps regulate the distribution of images where the visual appeal of actors and j-idols is what makes them sell. For other people? It's kinda silly given how packed urban Japan is. It's just not practical and almost impossible to avoid catching "innocent bystanders" in a photo shot. ( View formatted comment » )
