I think the best way to know about Spike's ethnicity is to ask the writer Keiko Nobumoto and the character designer, Toshihiro Kawamoto. But I think the surname "Spiegel" pretty much say that he is of Caucasian origin. He might have some Chinese blood because of his ties with the Red Dragon syndicate. I dare say Reeves kinda fit in the looks department (he's a bit old though), and he is part Chinese FYI. Oh yea Faye should be Asian... or at least part Asian like Kristin Kreuk. I'm not exactly a fan of her maybe because I'm not really into cosplay but I met her on several occasions , both on comic and games conventions and non-otaku events. All I can say negative rumors about her have been greatly exaggerated for various reasons. She's obviously an otaku (from what I noticed, she's more of a gamer than an anime fan ) but not exactly as a weeabo as the hate posts say at 4chan. I hope Spielberg ain't picking Bay again to direct this film. But with the success of Transformers, he might just do it. And if he will, be prepared for a LOT OF CHANGES devianting from it's original material. Changes I expect to see made by Hollywood that I hope they won't make but I'm betting they will: 1) Non-Japanese actress to play Motoko. I don't think the word "dickhead" is that common to American English speakers (USA and also here in Manila) as compared Commonwealth English (English English) using countries. I think "prick" is more preferred. The same goes for "wanker" which is barely used by American English speakers. I stayed in Australia for some time and "dickhead" such a common word. 08th MS Team is on the top of my list followed by Stardust Memories. I'd give Turn A a chance for the story and it's different take on the Gundam design. Yes it has a mustache, but I give much respect to it's designer Sydney Mead of Blade Runner (and his influence to anime). ...and I am starting to like 00 (so sue me!)
