I've been wondering that exact same thing as well.  Also, I never understood the nosebleed thing, either.  I've never gotten a nosebleed in my life, and that includes when I've been punched in the nose!  I always thought it was just some random anime thing.  You know, kind of like the whole "you'll catch a cold," line they use so much....

Is Ai an idol? This does not bode well for the future of the idol community.  I mean, they're idols right? They're generally a bunch of not very talented people whose only saving grace is their looks.

And regarding the nose bleed thing, it would be nice if somebody could explain it.  Nosebleeds are so prevalent in the manga industry I was totally surprised when GTO and Kotaro Makaritoru introduced the concept of "boners" for their characters (Of course, they never gave up nosebleeds completely, but simply choose to alternate between the two).

I'm pretty sure it's a medical condition.

I remember reading something about a Japanese stereotype that "perverted men get nosebleeds when aroused." I can't quite remember the exact reason perversion did that - I think it was in an Ask John from www.animenation.com, but it would take forever to dig it back up.

And to answer 3den, James Fallows, a person who lived in Japan for a number of years wrote an article for Atlantic Monthly saying that Japanese culture in general has a "half-conscious, low-grade pedophilia as the underlying social motif."

I definitely confirm that she is... not... my... type... at... all (as for all lolicons).

I'll be quite a bit harsh, but if you wonder how the upper part of the body (the torso) can be so much "developed" at this age and in a natural way... I think you got the answers now.

As for nosebleeds Japanese-style, I am quite positive it has some link to internal blood pressure... But why the nose in particular? This I don't know.

Hmmm...

I'd say that she may be a little "chubby" by idol standards.  Of course, those standards are fairly high relative to the average human being.

However; If I were walking down the street, I'd probably find her a very attractive girl. She has a very cute face.  I'd probably consider asking her out for a drink.  Of course, I'd have to make sure of her age first.  Seems like she is a bit on the young side.

Almost everyone who commented this thread is full of it/ignorant. 
We're introduced to a beautiful young Japanese idol with a NATURAL body type and HEALTHY, unlike the usual who's grossly skinny and looks like she NEVER eats, and yet people complain about her like snobby preps. "She's too chubby" "Not my type" just cause she isn't as skinny as hell. =/ Bull. Shinozaki is not chubby at all! Did you not see her other pictures? A real chubby girl would be shaped like a pear with her stomach hanging looking like a pregnant woman and wouldn't have the guts to wear a bikini!
