That's a good invention, very interesting for those free-space management maniacs. I think having the car in the bottom is okay! If you are the kind of person who doubts about everything, there is no need to live in a place where there are stairs to climb or a bridge to cross (logic is the same). And have in mind those trucks that carry cars on two levels, the system basically being the same. And this metal should not be fragile (possibility of rust or that it will fall apart), it should resist some tons. We don't live in the Iron Age anymore where hazards were common, I believe!
I like my car! I don't want it to be crushed if that thing fails! lol It is an interesting way to fit more cars. But I don't think they sell any of those here in the states. :P
Danny, are you listening through my iSight? ^^; My fiancee and I where talking about this earlier... I'm surprise we don't have these lifts in the U.S., with as car poor we are. It should be perfectly safe to park your car on the bottom. Safety mechanisms keep the lift in place regardless of lose of pressure or power. Only thing you need to worry about is an earthquake... ^^; Whatever you come up with in the end will work well. Have you given thought to allowing members to customize what information is displayed on the top page? I sure you probably have that planned for the future. ^_-

I've seen those before. Quite a few race shops have them. They're perfectly safe as long as they're built correctly and installed properly. I wouldn't hesitate to park my car on the bottom. Just make sure the one you buy is quality.

We have those but they're only available in commercial areas. It would be cool if it was available for home use. But yeah, a problem if you have an SUV.
wait who buys 2 of the same car??? the 2 on the right are the same yr, make and model, hmmm ive parked in the 3 story one in boston, heck if my car got crushed i would cry i love my little old beemer (but then realizing i can sue the company meana i can get a litle new beemer, i win)
i wouldn't park a car on the bottom incase any "accidents" happen n there goes my precious car although it's useful when comes to space saving i'm not gonna spend few thousand dollars to risk few ten thousand dollars =P meh
there are these automated underground car parks in some parts of tokyo that let's machines and computers to park your car automatically and when you're ready to get your car, you'll just instruct the computer and it'll get your car like a vending machine ^^
Somebody knows how much these costs ? Got the same issue in Aichi prefecture... house got 2 parking places... got 3 cars in the family, soon a 4th one. (big family/house)
Ah. I have seen these around. The only thing is, what happens if a stranger's vehicle's parked at the bottom, whilst yours on top and you would like to drive off. What will you do? ^___^
this thing wouldn't be popular here i think. we have a lot of parking spaces available (with a fee of course), not to mention those roadsides which become free parking lots for those law-breakers haha.. one more thing is that not too many people here has two or more cars, if if they do they sure have a big house (with a big parking space) where they can stock theirs!
I wouldn't even think about getting me one of those. too risky IMHO. Accidents can happen just about any time. heheh! ^^
That carpark looks like a disaster waiting to happen. I would be scared to put my car under or on top of another car. I does save space through.
I think the same, it looks so dangerous to put your car under another ^_^ It will always have a tired guy to forget the first car before to put down the second...
I like because it's very space friendly, but i think it's too risky to park it on the bottom or on the top. If an earthquake, strong wind and other natural calamities/issues strikes my place those 4 cars are screwed.
Thats a good idea. If your car is on the top, and you need to access it quickly, but have to wait for the other guy, it wont be so good.
who needs to buy one when you can steal it from your local garage:P
Might be good if you have friends/relatives over who drive, but would be a royal pain in the backside if your car was on top and you needed to nip to the shops or something.
I love these car parks, but not as much as I love the tall ferris-wheel type ones. You drive into the building and into some tracks then you get out and the car raises up, there could be another 4+ cars on a long conveyor. Then when you want to leave you back up and get turned around on a turntable... great stuff!

Hmm I like to hear the reliability of that contraption... would be horrible if one day it just breaks down and your second car crushes your car on the bottom. and what if some wiseguy forgets to put on the breaks?
I saw a couple of these at some of the buildings near at my office and they seem to be ok. But if you ask me, I prefer my car to be on top if in any case this contraption breaks down, thank you.
That's a pretty spiffy idea. I admit that I'd have some trust issues using that, bug its a great space saver idea. I suppose none of those cars are yours

At first I thought "I would take a bottom spot over a top" because I wouldn't have to wait for some fool to move their car so I could leave. But then I though... wait. I'd be the fool that would have to move his car so some one else could leave. ARG! I think I'll just walk and/or take public transit.

More than likely a real problem would be a head gasket or such letting go on the car on top. That would ruin your day, in a big way. People in Japan are not always getting in their cars to go down a block or two, like us crazies in the western world. ^^; I spent a large part of my life around cars. Racing, auto restoration and the automotive industry have been influential in my life. I look forward to moving to Japan and not having to drive everyday and everywhere. grouch grouch grouch ^^;
Lets just say I won't be parking an SUV on top heh ^^ As an Engineer I don't like the design of it, but if it works it works. I would add beams in the front to further add stability, but the beams must be wide enough apart for the cars on the bottom (and eventually cars on top) to get down. It's a great contraption for use in Japan and neighboring China, but in the USA you either park your car in your yard and let grass grow around it, or there is space for 3 cars in most garages.
That would be cool for my house lol.

Looks like you didn't add a stripslashes function on your main page of your nav 2.0 for the comment preview under your post previews, as I see slashes after apostrophes, etc. Also, beware of feature creep, where you add so much stuff to your site that nobody can effectively use it.
If I had a old car I wouldn't mind parking in the bottom slot, but for a newer car I would park only on the top.

I used to work in my uncles garage, they had to of those!! It takes a while to move cars in, out and on .... etc. etc. But I think its a cool idea for parking and space saving ....
Come to think of it, it is kinda time consuming to do all that just to park. Unless the top cars are not used daily then it would become practical. Tuned car upstairs, daily driver below.

It seems like who will park thiere car at the bottom, will get more chance thst the car at the top will fall down and crash you car.

If I am not wrong, the 2 storey carparking thing you posted in your picture has a flaw... which is: the car below always need to drives off 1st for the car on top to descend and drives off. Most of these multi-storey carparking thing has it made that there is a basement... so the car below won't need to drives off in order for the car on top to get off.
