yup its true, tescos really do that. damn them. first post huzah!!!
danny, do you still come to the uk often, with your parents here and all. Do you ever visit the old hackney?
Costco!!! i love that place they have the best return policy, im gonna go buy a tv tommarow for the super bowl and return and they give me cash back, SWEET!! i want point cards T.T P.S. i dont even like football, i juct wanna try it out, but my family like football so its all good
Sounds like a nice duty-free system to me. They look like fidelity cards too... Not much else to say tonight. It's always nice to see some specific things from Japan and sometimes more broadly, Asia.
I don't have any point cards. They never seemed real successful around the area where I live so most businesses don't bother with them.
Never really used one since we don't do it so often here in Houston. I just voted 1-5 for the chance I probably used one but didn't know it. :P BTW, that's a lot of point cards. XD
mmm i dont even bother using my point cards, i just pay for my item and leave lol too much "hassle"
I technically have two point cards, but one is actually just an Arcade (Gameworks) card that gives a discount after you purchase X amount of points. Other than that, it's hard to find good reward programs aside from sketchy credit card rewards.
Also, where's the 0 point card option!?
Would rather have membership cards that give on the spot discount than point cards which can be a hassle too keep track.

I see we are shoping in the same places ;) but I am surprise you do not have the Yodobashi card. I try to not have to many cards on me, if needed I will gave them to my wife ^_^

Hehehe, my Mrs loves those!! Besides other random things, they (point cards) take up a lot of her purse space!! Women and saving ..... hehehehe!!
I only have a points card for drinks...buy 10 and get one free. Somewhat useful with my friend around, but most of the time its just gathering dust somewhere.
Hrm, in my country the cards you get are mainly "buy 2 get 1 free" in store, but then you get points added to the card, and you get a money-back voucher at the end of every month, that depends on how many points you have... Although, they are very uncommon here, I can only think if 2 stores that do this. lol... 10 yen off :O
My border (books) and best buy reward zone (electronics) card. >___
i have them for drinks like bubble tea ......
Ive got 2 or 3 point cards for various games & DVD shops, but i always find them cheaper on websites like Amazon or play.com. If i had a points card for them, id save even more dough!
in china, restaurants/foot message centres/loads of other crap offers u to be a member...u pay ( ) amount and u save get a ( )% off everytime... my mom has a whole bag of them. around 30. VIP cards, Friendship cards, Discount card...all sorts of stupid names.
The only point card I really use is in a manga/figure shop : I collect points when I buy mangas (like the first "Death Note", available in french this month) and I use them to buy some nice figures ! ^^

I have one for Maruyu (a small Japanese supermarket chain here), which gives one stamp for 5 dollars spent, and after around 6 points (one row) you get $2 off, and after like 4 or 5 rows you get $10 off. Apart from Easyway (Bubble Tea), it's the only point card I have and the best I can find. I guess Japan really like their point cards more than other countries.
I have only the two. I want more though! I like discounts/free stuff!

Fyi, Bic does not allow you to use Bic Point Card with your tax-free purchases anymore.
Here in the U.S. of A. you will pay a penalty for not using your "members" card at most grocers. The price is high with out your card. Just another way of reaffirming the fed / feeder relationship. It's totally voluntary of course.
I currently don't have any point cards in my wallet, the last one I had was used about 6 or 7 months ago.
The Import store I buy from lets you either pay in-store price and you get a Point Card that gives you 10$ per like...10 purchases, or you can just pay the prices they have listed on their site which are generally 10$ less than store price....yeah...
Ah we have this in here as well, and lots of it. I love using them like in art stores, grocery stores and etc. they are very useful and I carry about 3 in there. Good to know about the passport thing, I don’t want to pay tax HAHAHHA
Yeah, I agree most point cards here are pointless. You literally get a card from every shop you enter! I have a crapload that amounts to the thickness of yellow pages! That said, I only carry around 8-ish. But these 8 are the plastic type therefore they make my wallet seem huge even though I only have ¥1,000 in there! "I had a Tesco point card that gave me a penny for every ten pounds I spent" Hahahahahahahahaha. My mom never leaves the house without her Tescos card!
I don't have any. The so-called point cards here are not worth the trouble if you really think about it.

Dunno if anyone said this... regarding the tax-exempt thing... You cannot buy things for your friend in Japan and let them keep it. They staple in a copy of the invoice and stamp it into your passport so if you tamper with it, the customs will know and you will be in trouble. Don't attempt unless you are feeling lucky :x.

I would so let you get tax free, if I was a guest at your house. I can't think of anyone who wouldn't. That wouldn't be good for (Amae) If that is how you spell it.
When I shop at Japan, they will ask me if I have point cards almost any stores. Everytime people talk about point cards, it reminds me of that scence in a J-Drama called Kekkon dekinai Otoko when the actor shops at Conbini....
AHahh!! So this is the reason why that Japanese supermarket, namely Papaya, offers Point Card, when it's rare to do that in Indonesia.
I wonder if I could get someone to let me stay with them in Japan in exchange for showing my passport to get them things cheaper? That would be nice...
