1st to comment wow 160mps connection for 6,300 yen! wow! I wish we had that in the US lol.
My connection is awful. :( 6 Meg down and 3 Meg up for freaking $40+/month!!! The sad part is, it's the only one available down here, besides a slower DSL company.
oooo ... that is totally lighting fast ... I pay approximately 6300 yen for only 10Mbps in Singapore ..
wow...that's freakingly fast. If only I had that kind of connection here. *sigh* >_>

In Malaysia, 1 mbps downstream connection is bout 2656 yen. Most of the people still using 512 kbps
I'm envious. I'm paying $55/mo. for flaky cable internet access.
That's nice. 160Mbps connection. I wonder how the technology of FTTH will be pushed to in the future.
Funny, my internet speed use to be heck of quick until we were having too many problems with the service and decided to switch to DSL. It's almost the same speed but not much of a difference. Nice picture btw. :P
i was getting 10mps for us$35 and then in order to save some cash i decided to cancel that, and now i use my ibooks wireless capabilities to my advantage *winks* ok, yah its illegal but hey its their fault for leaving their routers without protection, *sigh* if only they knew a computer geek lived near them
Here, 8.0Mbps download / 1.0Mbps upload "dedicated business line" costs $200 bucks/month (thats 20000 yen approx) from Rogers Cable. Man, Rogers got NOTHING on NTT.

ADSL 'MAX' as they say in the UK, which is in theory 8mb down/256kb up. However unless I log in at 7am on a Monday morning I'm lucky if I get 2mb. BT (I'm sure you remember them) have rigged the wholesale market and ADSL is pretty bad now. I'm hoping to move to 24mb ADSL2+ soon from someone outside of the BT network.
Hey you're lucky guys in Japan, in France we have max focntion of the operator equipement distance maximum 24Mbps DownStream & 900kBps Upstream damn When the fiber in France BAAAAAAA sorry for my english
I am with an ISP called DEMON.Ive had a few problems with them in the past.main problem being that not long after we bought our 2mb unlimited package they took off the lower speed packages & made our package the standard package so they had to upgrade all the other users who wasnt on our package, to our package & im guessing there were quite a lot of ppl as my net started getting lower then a 512mb connection. even then my ping was through the roof! I couldnt play online gaming until it was 1am!!! the only time when i had my FULL connection & a stable ping. anyway this kept up for a good 6-8months when they finally decided to upgrade older contract members with a free 8mb upgrade which i have now & i have no complaints. Ive not yet seen my downloads reach 8mb but ive seen it go up to 6mb which is more then enough even though it aint full on 8Mb/ps. so long as they keep it like that i cant complain. but during the time ive been with my ISP they have been awarded SEVERAL online awards for giving a great retro 56k feel(no joke!)
Well, i'm n South Africa, The land of DEATH internet, where I pay R799p/m {13285.95} for , wait for it - a 256Kb connection.
Isn't it wonderful.
I'm using direct line broadband cable and its only like 9.9mb downstream / 256kb upstream... =( Australia's internet is no match for Asia's expanding technology

despite how fast the internet can go, we must not forget the wrath of mother nature. one earthquake and its sayonara internet for the next few days...*thx for telling the site is NSFW...fufufu..

Mine it's supposed to be 20 mb, that's what they say. Telefonica is going to offer 50mb connection but no idea about the upstream
Wow, that's super fast and cheap! I pay $30/mo for a 3Mbps/384bps connection >
I have a 800 kbps for 40 dollars and the fastest connection here in Brazil is a 8 Mbps for 90 dollars.
Well, I have a 256Kbps DOWN / 128Kbps UP DSL connection for US$35 and it's filtered, that means that anything but webpages goes at 128Kbps. YEAH!!! come to live in the Patagonia!!! Mwahahahaha!!!
ONLY!? 10Mbps upstream?? Well, looks like I have to find a way to take out the person who decided that we can live on 128kbps... and our down stream is like 7Mbps. Although they have brought out a plan that says you can have as fast internet connection as your line allows, but the line doesn't allow that much and it will depend on how many ppl is on line in your area and how far you are with your exchange. Not only that they limit your download speed if your data up/download exceeds 700MB a day. This country Suck big time!

I am currently on a 24mbit connection, paying £20/month. This seems to be the best deal on offer atm in the UK, and I am very happy with it, a roll-out of fiber connections would certainly be welcome though.

Well, my 100 Mbit FTTH connection is included in the apartment rent, but then again, the rent is 260,000 yen/month. Ah well, at least I just downloaded the Gran Turismo demo for PS3 at 4.5 mega_bytes_/s... :)
i only have 2mb.
and that is about £30 per 3 months or something. or £20 a month. In britain we get ripped off.
Bt Broadband, sorry for 3 posts but i had to say it all.

Phenie in South Africa .......sorry buddy.....I work for TELKOM ADSL!! I know what U are going through!!

I wish here in canada we had even 50 Mbps - In Toronto you can get 10 Mbps but not up here in the North yet I only have 4 Mbps
Here in Turku, Finland we get to be in 10Mb student village network (& internet of course) for mere 60€ in total. Enough for me. :)I've been meaning to write in here for a long time, but I'm one of those who never received the confirmation.

Danny, Love you site... Always been fascinated by the idicyncracies of the Japanese, and my wife lived in Misawa from 2004-2007, and tells me tales often. When I saw 160Mbps, my jaw nearly dropped... I thought my 15Mbps was good, it's shit compared to what you can get! Anyhow, I thought you might be interested in this article: "UK Passes Japan in Broadband Penetration" - http://www.websiteoptimization.com/bw/0611/ Keep up the good work... (and go get a job at Apple Japan before Uncle Fester makes you use that steaming pile of shit, OS X wannabe, Vista...

to Bottakuri in Tokyo, ur rent is 260000yen/month?? then ur salary/month is..??? u said as if the rent is normal.. fuuh...how cool

God. I live in Australia and our internet is so bad. Currently i'm on a 1.5mbit plan with 14gb downloads. I have to pay 50 AUS dollars a month - which is around 4600 yen. It's considered a good internet plan over here. -_-
My connection, here in France, is about 20Mbps with a 1Mbps upstream.
I've got a 24Meg with 1.3Meg up from bethere.co.uk its alright but i would prefer fibre optical broadband like the speeds in Korea and Japan. Damn Labour gov the UK needs to start moving ahead in technology >_<
My internet speed is nothing to complain about, but it would be REALLY nice if we could get faster speeds, even if by just a little.
