Ah. This looks good! Finally a internet show on Tokyo without having to subscribe to cable tv just to watch documentaries on Japan which are heavily editted :p

Btw Danny, I would ask If you guys would like a HTTP download version for your internet show? You can contact me at the email stated.

You asked for a critical response, so here i go!
Seemed good for a first try, if a little long. I feel that it could be condensed quite a bit by cutting things that are quite obvious to anyone who is into this kind of stuff, such as what you do in multiplayer games, and what gundams are (shooters make you dizzy- haha!)
Personally, i dont really find the gatgety bits (akiba news) that intresting to me, as im more into otaku culture than gadgets. Plus, i have to concentrate to hear the Akiba news' guy's accent at times - but im pretty crap at listening to accents anyway!
Perhaps it would be good to seporate the Akiba news bit and the DC bit into seporate programs. At the moment, i find it more convenient reading a blog entry than seeing a video due to things like multiple high-res figure views, and the ability to not read things that dont intrest you.
Looking good so far - you seem a lot better at speaking than me - if i were doing it, there would be a lot of awkward silences!

Really looking forward to the Harajuku bit. Should be ace seeing you 'on location' so to speak.

Oh, and what you can improve is trying to keep your hand movements to a minimum. I noticed you where waving your hands around everytime you were talking about something. Just wanted to let you know Other than you did pretty well.

Danny, why did you go with WMV9 for the HD? C'mon man... ur a Mac user.

h.264 Quicktime would have been a friendlier choice. :)

For the first show both you and Daimaou-san look really good. I don't think the location is all that bad Danny. I know you spend time in your living room everyday so it's understandable that you see it as boring. Having "Ridge Runner" in demo mode was nice. Be careful though not to pick a location with too many distractions in the background, but one that still compliments the discussion. Don't forget to give attention to what you are wearing and look at your audience once in a while. I'm sure you have already been saying these things to yourself. ^_- I doubt I would have done as good of a job my first time.

You had a nice segment though, I did enjoy Daimaou-san segment more. Probably because he does this more often. Maybe try switching back and forth between the two of you more often. In other words, you talk about one or two items and then Daimaou-san does the same. I like both the tech and otaku segments, but my fiancee said her attention was drifting during the tech segment. Tech is all greek to her, so switching back and forth might help viewers like her. She understands her country's pop culture, but liked how you where explaining the little items we otaku types already know.

Overall, it was just the right length. I would still watch if you both decide to make the show longer. You have a good personality and will get better after doing a few shows. Both you and Daimaou-san work well together so I look forward to more. It looks like a lot of fun! I would really like to try something like this, but I think I would try podcast first.

Hope all this helps...

Pretty good for a first episode, but there is room for improvment. One thing I would have liked is if you talked more in depth about the figures. Like, the pros and cons of the three you had on display. Other than that it was fairly good. I see no probelm with the length, my self.

I'm guessing in the next episode you guys'll have more stuff work off seeing as you'll be "on location", so that should be fun.

Frankly, I loved it! The topics include two main themes I'm extremely interested in, all rolled into a sweet HDTV video, shot in Japan no less. For your first time, I think you both did great.

Criticism - I'm not as picky as most people. The only thing that really bugged me was that the stream took forever to download, so I decided to just get the torrent (that's understandable though as it's a big file). However, as a Mac guy, it was actually having some real lag issues in Windows Media Player. I agree with mingistech that H.264/AVC would be a much better file choice. In any case, I'm looking forward to the next installment!

Thanks all for the feedback,
The filesize is huge but its difficult to reduce because we want to try out videos in HD - you will see more in the background when we are on location.

File format - will do divx next time. Mac users can use VLC just like I do. Quicktime sucks anyway (but so does WMV ^^;)

Will make it shorter next time and after the chat, we plan to shoot various spots of the location that we will be in.

Will also talk in depth about the figures like eye-size etc.

Will also do a http download next time.

Alafista,
Nope - only got that one.

KCA,
Do get tired but the rewards are huge ^^

Anyway, I wanted to ask if do you guys mind if I uploaded the HDTV onto my server for people who can't do bittorrent? I do understand that there are people who either have their BT speeds capped or just hate the streaming version (if there is). I have about 2T of bandwidth (per month) and I barely use 15~30GB per month. :)
