このカメラがいいと思ったらアマゾンへ。価格は49890円。しかし、カカクコムで買った方が安い。40000円でゲットできる^^;

I seriously need to get a new camera, still using my trashed old Sony DCR-PC101E to take pictures. But affordability is what really throws me when is comes to getting a new one, most of the decent models are way out of my price range :(.

Lately, I have been looking at compact cameras. I asume you are using auto white balance in the photos you took. The camera is giving nice sharpness and no noticeable color cast or bias. Also nice auto exposure for night and indoor shots if you are using a full automatic setting. Very impressive for a compact. I can see why you like it.

I have an older Sony Cybershot. Yes, that darn Sony Timer again. It just loved blue. I once took a picture of my fiancee sitting on a blue sofa, in a room with blue-gray carpeting. UGH! ^o^

I agree image stabilizer is like one week old stanky fish. This garbage the camera companies sell of perfect sharp image from camera shake is a pile. I don't know how it works on a compact, but I'm guessing it just pushing the ISO setting higher, right? I have one telephoto IS lens for my 20D and it does improve sharpness in low light for high zoom. Image Stabilization was explained to me this way: The lens mounts are not fixed and allowed to float. As you can guess, the electronics control how much movement is allowed.

Canon has to use like 90 different names for one model, depending on the region. I assume that's the SD800IS here in America, because the SD900 is 10MP and has a titanium body.

Buy yeah, out of all the compacts at my store, I refer the SD800IS as being the best within the bunch without a doubt, and the SD900 if you have to have 10MP and don't mind loosing the Image Stabalizer.

And yes, Canon is the best as far as compacts go. :D

I dislike my Panasonic FZ7, because in macro mode it purple fringes edges like mad! That's a serious liability to a figure enthusiast. Outside of macro mode, that thing has an amazing lens though. It was the first non-Canon camera I ever bought and I regret it.

Image stabilization is nice though.

I know what you mean by switching lenses at a convention. It's not exactly fun though I have gotten rather fast in doing so. How many lenses do you take with you to a convention anyway?

WHAT Canon has a new model already? It was just a couple of months ago that I bought my spanking new Canon IXUS 800 IS and now there's a 900 with wide angle?

All the pics on my site are taken with the 800.

Area51xxmars,
Because Im busy and not clever when it comes to modeling.

Red October,
Got two watches that I liked and filed the modified strap to hold them together. Been wearing that for about 7 years now ^^

Shi,
Leica? That rings a bell but dont hear much about it here.

TJ Han,
I thought you had an SLR for your photos. You take all your shots with a compact camera?

Edward,
Another nice find ^^

Edward in Michigan,
Auto WB for some of the shots but rarely take anything in auto and set to full manual. I always turn off the flash too.

Danny,

I use an IXUS 800 and more recently, a Canon S3. I do get the chance to use EOS-30D but without any decent macro lens, which sort of defeats the purpose.

Super rats uses a Panasonic FZ-30 if I recall correctly. Yeah so you do have the best cameras around!

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but how's this camera doing for you nowadays?

Really tempted to get one for my upcoming tokyo trip, as my fairly recent powershot is great, but bulky, and i dont really need all the full manual control stuff on it.

Everything about this camera looks really good, but 4X zoom isnt as good as my powershot's 6X zoom. It really comes in handy for skyline shots...

Can you take long exposure shots on it - yknow, the ones that make cityscapes look so cool at night?

Were those cool night shots taken on a high iso, or just with a super steady hand and longer exposure?

Cheers!
