I would most probably have been a combination of laughed at/beaten up. Sorry to hear about the proposed figure competition, since I don't actually own any figures or such like (as of yet). That is one brave man though, I wonder how open minded the community is where he lives...

Hmm doing something like that in germany would proably get pretty much the same reactions as on the pictures. ;) Hmm kissing a figure? Right now all i got is figma Haruhi and seriously, kissing girls aren't something i would take a picture of. :P Also i would hate to torture other people with my fugly self lol. I hope you don't propose an open bravest otaku challenge. Some of us are pretty shameless and might end up in the news somehow. Personally, I've only done two things otaku related in public. 1) Take a soccer ball sized Togepi (Lucky Egg Pokemon) Plush to a physics test (Grade: A). 2) Took my Saber Cushion to the Track Meet last weekend (AND WE WON!). I wasn't publicizing it, but it got some attention.
