Yeah, Websense a rather large filtering business here in the states, has Dannychoo.com listed under Adult Content, thus many schools, public terminals and government buildings do not have access to the site. A bit sad really... :( but thats ok, one of the reasons I come here is due to the fact there is very little censorship. I HATE censorship.

I think the amount of ero content on the site is just fine. Even if you mark things as "adult", workplaces, schools and such will still filter the site if they see that content on it. Part of this, some people, may think is due to necessity. I obviously don't think this, I think it's due to people's ignorance that things like this are done, people are much to uptight about ero things in every manifestation and aspect. If/when I run my own company, I'll let my employees look at any ero stuff at work if they want, just as long as the work gets done, kinda like how google offices work (at least that I know of in the US), they give employees a set amount of work to get done in a set amount of time, as long as they get that work done then they can do whatever they want. Besides, it's a good part of the health care plan. xD

Hehehe. Sorry Danny, had to chuckle a bit that DC was deemed "P". To be honest, I often wondered if I would be locked out when travelling parts of China, but things were A-ok. As for the ero content, I have no problems with it. I understand that the site need to evolve to suit most readers taste, and that not all individual interests can be met. Just try to make sure it is not saturated with ero topics, and balance should maintain itself.

I know my site has been kicked out of or labeled adult by many ad services I've tried to use because of my links to danny choo and j-list. I think that is a bad business move for these companies because that has caused many problems for me in my goal to monetize the anime gen site. I have no adult content on my site at all but some ad services think I do just because of the links. It even caused I huge problem recently where this new ad service I tried thought it would be nice to display porn ads all over the anime gen site because they went ahead and flagged my site as adult.

Im not a fan or eroge, and really I don't like seeing it too much, but I would say for the website and for pleasing the hundreds of thousands of other friends, the amount is just right ^^. I have no problem with it being on the site- I usually just skip over it and potential other stuff that is NSFW. I'm not offended by my friends liking material that I don't. I would agree that Gunpla is lacking lately- but everything else is really making up for it. I have also been on hiatus from gunpla, in part largely due to a lack of availability of gundam models. When I hit Japan though, I don't think Akihabara will be able to meet my demand for gunpla *laughs*. Keep up the great work! I read 99.9% of posts anywhoo, I think you are the subject of some interest, and I enjoy reading the blog! I learn a LOAD more that otherwise I would have no clue about.

I think the amount of Ero on this site is pretty good. If I feel like I want to avoid it I can without any effect on the rest of my browsing. The label does kinda hurt in some advertising areas though. However, I don't think Danny has this issue.

Sorry, but you guys got it all wrong about banning sites on workplaces and schools and so on. They ban it because it is not in any way related to what you do on your workplace or in school and it is their goddam right to do this. Just who do you think pays for that connection? Right, your employer. I got my arse into one big truckload of trouble during my apprenticeship because I misused the privileges the company gave me (internet, since I made an apprenticeship as a IT Specialist, company-internal mail service, network storage). And you know what? I admitted that it was my fault and my responsibility, that I did something wrong and that's the only reason why I'm currently NOT unemployed. They were right, i was wrong. They trusted me that I would use my privileges responsibly and I betrayed that trust and I had a tough time to reearn that trust (in fact I never did until I finsihed my apprenticeship with good notes). When you are at work you have to work, end of discussion. Having fun at work is necessary to keep up the good work but that does not mean that you should browse through sites like this. You have your colleagues, so have some fun with them.

User added content often puts really risque things on front page without use of the NSFW tags. I'd say that's probably the big issue - since everything's clustered together on the front page. I know I personally had to NOT visit the site multiple times because things that were really obviously NSFW were posted without the tag on, even if 'bare eyes' weren't completely bare. Like say, one today that's been on all afternoon that has just strips of hair in front of the pupils. I love ero-ero stuff, but frankly control over tagging probably needs to be improved. Unless the idea of having a different address for NSFW.dannychoo.com suits your fancy! D:

Ive only run into filtering on the London Grid for Learning... the LGFL is what the london schools networks go through and use as a filter... this site works fine but others like my own site (blocked for profanity and pornography) and I notice that a lot of web design sites were labled as web chat or occult. Sadly the grid blocks anything to do with proxy anonymizers so I can't get by them... luckily, I have enough avenues of entertainment to last during my classes... XD

I, too, don't recall there being so much ero material in my earlier days as a lurker, and indeed, originally I visited the site for Gundam information. Moreover, it seems that the Mirai marks have fallen somewhat by the wayside, as various items which would've been marked before are now left unmarked, whether for lack of time or a change of policy. Don't mind the ero stuff myself, but it does seem to get an awful lot of attention nowadays. Maybe cutting back a bit wouldn't hurt? (Especially, as was noted above, since members can now upload as many ero news items as they like.) Regardless, we know your site rocks, and you shouldn't be too put out that some stingy net censor gets in a huff.

I think its about right too. Just exercise some discretion while browsing DC at work will do. DC is not currently in my company's filter list but i fear the day might come soon =/ I read DC via google's feed reader when i'm in the office, so i don't get the problem of bare eyes from member uploads, moe.imouto.org is much much much more dangerous =P Oh, another thing is the thumbnails displayed on the front page could use some moderation if its possible.

I see you ran into Germany's famous anti- porn/obscenity laws. I do not believe in censorship of any kind. Warnings should be enough. I do not want another person deciding what i can or can not see, especially if i am paying them for the service. As far as "protecting the children" is concerned, that is what parents a for. I know that sound harsh but sheltering children can be more harmful to them then education ever will.

I've noticed that my college blocks the site every once in a while, but every other day it allows full access to the whole site. I don't think it would a bad idea though to implement a "Erotica or not" option that would allow members to block Erotic content if it offends them/they view site at work or school often/they just don't like erotica.

There are ways around poorly-considered internet filtering programs. Besides recommending my own bookmark page (^ that one ^) [I split off the URLs I felt were more likely to be considered erotica onto two separate pages, so that *it* would not be considered 'pornography'. That is *another* reason why my bookmark pages are all text.], browse what Boingboing.net did when it was similarly tossed out by SmartFilter [ http://boingboing.net/censorroute.html ] The most direct method to avoid censorship involves using a browser-based proxy. When you configure one of those [In Firefox, look at Tools>Options>Advanced>Network>Settings ], your URL request does not go to dannychoo.com. It goes to the Internet Protocol Address of the proxy. The proxy makes the connection to dannychoo, and then feeds it back to you. The censorware program would have to consider that I.P. Address as "off limits" in order to prevent it from serving you. Clearly, no harried censor is going to be able to continuously update a file of numeric I. P. Addresses. Since browser-based proxies can die, or may start refusing connections; you (and he) and would have to change it anyhow. It is more work. I recommend anonymous or elite proxies, but you may decide that a transparent proxy is sufficient for you. Yes, attempting to censor the World-Wide Web is ridiculous. Even if it is for a "good" reason.

If it's an ero content article, I don't read it/comment on it. The more ero content that shows up on the front page, the less often I browse the site--especially at work! I know I'm in the minority, but that's the way it is. One thing to think about, though... There have been many times I wanted to give an article link to a friend or link to an article on another website, but I can't because of the risque nature of the navigation content/ads/part of the article/whatever. I'm rather sure that what you have is working FAR better for you than pandering to the likes of me would, but that's just the way it works out for me.

I, personally, feel the ero content is getting a bit too much compared to about a year ago. But that's what the readers want so can't really do anything about that. I like your site but I would never attempt to access it from work or a public computer for the aforementioned reason. Personally, i think the ero content of DC is a bit too much, but it doesnt bother or offend me personally. It just seems like every 2nd post (especially in the member news) is 'here is a 2D/ 3D girl with her baps out - COR' and lots of eager replies and Sid-James style hooting. Its obviously popular, and gets the visitors in, but personally, i would rather have more about general life in japan - unique things that only you - a resident of Japan - can provide. As wierd as it sounds, i really like the fact that some blogs like Moeyo take pictures of figures on the shelves of shops - it brings me that warm fuzzy feeling of when i were wandering about the koto shop, or asoBitCity. Im not complaining about the site at all - im just trying to be constructive!

seems like ero content was quite less before members started uploading pics. Now i browse the site from home, since cant take chance of browsing from office. but on those days when work is less, i dont get to view much since any link i click shows lots of ero content directly and guys in office hover around me constantly trying to catch something ;) my cubicle is on one of those frequenlty treaded paths u know. and like another member said, such sites are not mean to be viewed in office, we should just do our work and go home :)

yea, its sad - I can't access dannychoo.com from my office as well. And all the proxy service has also been blocked in my office. On the brighter side for Danny is that my office labeled Dannychoo.com as "Streaming Media" About the amount of ero, I would say its a healthy level. he he.. hide my ass worked for me a few times as well.. and this site does get blocked alot on web filters.. unfortunatly.. but i guess. for those underage viewers.. this site could be a bit much.. for me.. just the right amount of ero and not enough gundam :D but alls good.. keep it upp and thankyou for all you've done thus far!

My company internet also have web filtering every website user try to access will load via proxy server. It's blocked a lots of anime with some ero contents site that I want to access too (like akibablog and some image board site) but at least not your site and hope its not get in to the filter soon ^^; And the really bad thing is it's also blocked all site related to http tunnel,Annoymous surf site that help you gain access to website that blocked by filters too Q_Q.

I don't particularly mind the level of ero content on the site, but I do wish that some NSFW material would be labeled a little better in the title better (I mean in the news section, not the articles, those are fine). Sometimes I only catch the NSFW note in the accompanying text after I've already clicked on the news item. And yes, I do check this site a lot at work -_-v

Well i know there is alot of ero content etc on here, but it really is'nt that bad there are tons more sites out there that should come under pornography , wheras i dont think dannychoo.com comes close to be classed as a porn site. Plus you would probably lose 99% of your users if you did'nt have ero lmao
