I tried Kentucky when I was in Japan. Tastes pretty much the same to me except that their fries are really good. Didn't had a chance to try the new product they had but we had a similar product a few months back as well.
hmm, I live in the US (New York) and I know about 4 KFCs around my place. I've never eaten the chicken, only the mash potatoes, it's really good here.
KFC is extremely popular here in the states. As far as taste, I haven't tried them since they changed their recipe, but it used to be pretty good. It's just extremely greasy.
I heard they tried to change their name to Kitchen Fried Chicken in the states, but it didnt happen. I personally dont eat fast food, but there are a bunch of them out here. Maybe you just missed them in L.A. Danny? In the US they have a problem with rats being attracted to the batter for the chicken. Enjoy!
Never tried it in Japan yet, but the menu does seem more appealing. In Australia the stuffs great but you feel like a beached whale after with the cholesterol just sitting in your stomach! As kids we used to call it Kentucky Fried Cat :) Anyone remember years ago when the 'secret' recipe was found in a old chest of drawers that were sold. There was a huge court battle on trying to keep it from being used. In USA of course
num num , me wants the seaweed and the spice, oh the spice!
I prefer Popeyes over KFC, the chicken has more flavor and I think less greasy. Plus I can get some southern adaptation like jambalaya that you don't normally find around here. But we have many KFC's here in the states, though they are very dispersed.
Ours here ain't so bad, except that the price are rather inflated. Their miso chicken last time tastes like herbal chicken
Just tried this last week, the 和風 spin to the taste is pretty good. I still miss the KFC mashed potato we have in Singapore though.
KFCs got good eats. If you can find the ones with the buffet you can eat pretty cheap too. I love the popcorn chicken.
to tell the truth, i quite bore on eating KFC chicken, it only tasty and yummy on that crispy "skin", but inside the meat is so...just dunno how to say. just my opinion...
Shimata... Danny have forgot to mention another choice for the poll. Something like: "There's no Kentucky chicken in your region at all" ^_-
yea it taste good i guess but thats all because of the heavy loads of MSG they put in it which makes you so dam thirsty after x.x...
Whoa, reminds me of those chicken pieces from Mosburger in Japan! The KFC here can taste decent, depends on how hungry you are ^^;
There is a KFC about 5 streets away from my house. I practically grew up with KFC throughout my life but their chickens doesn't taste good anymore so yeah. Plus, Popeyes is a street away.
I rarely eat KFC here in Canada. When ever my mom decides to buy fried chicken, it's always from Churches chicken. Not saying KFC is bad though, but i just like Churches better ^^;. But man, that commercial just got me drooling. On other hand, thinking of the amount of MSG from those spices also scares me Xd. Bet is going to make you hella thirsty after eating one.
Well, singaporean KFC outlets isn't bad, except for its price.
This is making me hungry ^^...
I prefer the side dishes more too... Mashed Potato FTW!!!
Theres also a product you can buy in most japanese supermarkets. Its labelled in English "Kentucky Fried Chicken" and its the flour powder to make your own KFC :)
@Uradox: we have that too in Malaysia... but still prefer eating the already-prepared fried chicken from KFC. the taste is still acceptable here, lack of variety though.
KFC used to be a nice restaurant, always full of tasty cakes, but right now is just a big chain and the chicken tastes the same as in Usa, so now is crap
@soonkiong Ah i see :) I have not tried it. Is it simular to the real thing?
I do my best to avoid eating out at fast food restaurants. I eat fast food only if I'm in a place where I can't be picky (foreign country, airports, etc). I stick largely to home cooking on a diet of mostly fish. That so-called 11 herbs and spices is nothing more than a fancy marketing catchphrase to cover up its basic ingredients of merely flour, salt, black pepper and MSG.
Darn, Japanense KFC looks yummy and nice to eat. While here in Canada, our KFC's are disgusting.

hmmm... cloned chicken, finger licking good... drool...
Here, in HK,they taste like dog crap. And it's so damned overpriced as well.
a while back we also had something like what danny mentioned above here in singapore as well. japanese themed fried chicken with spice and seaweed. the funny thing thing is after i washed my hands and took a shower, my fingers still still smell of spice and seaweed. ^^

The KFC's here in Australia used to be really gross but I think they've somewhat cleaned up their act (due to a change in chicken suppliers, mostly), though their restaurants tend to be really grubby (the staff don't seem to clean as well or as often as say McD's). What I found interesting about these ads from Japanese KFC is how they've managed to integrate the chain (with its foreign-ness encoded into the name "Kentucky") into the Japanese way of life, using elements of traditional Japanese culture in their promotion. And it seems to have worked, what with KFC becoming an integral part of Christmas celebrations in Japan and all that.
nice, though no one calls it here Kentucky, we just call it KFC, its the whole abbreviation frenzy thats going on here with everyone just using 3 letters for company names like UPS. I personally never tried it after I came to USA. Not a fan of fast food. But that one looks so good. mhhhhh
Here in the US, I hear people say frequently how they love eating at KFC. I generally think they're insane. Not only do I find the flavor to be awful, but they put some sort of solution in all their food (MSG, perhaps?) and I can't eat their food without being ill. Perhaps its regional. It certainly wasn't the case when I was a kid. Well, I say that, but a week ago I did have a meal from KFC that some one else bought for me. It was the least offensive meal I'd had there in probably 15 years. I'm a man who love his fried chicken. I look forward to trying Kentucky when I'm in Japan, because it looks different. I highly recommend Popeye's and Church's chicken restaurants when in the US.
Oh wow the KFC looks really yummy in Japan. I really love eating KFC almost once every week if I'm unable to control myself.
Ive only recently discovered how damn nice KFC is. I used to be put off by them because i hate picking at bones, but now they have lots of boneless stuff, i enjoy em now! Will have to try KFC and MCdonalds next time im in Tokyo. On my last trip, I avoided them as i can have them back home, but people are telling me they are MUCH different and better than the ones in the UK.
lol makes you fatter after like a 100 buckets ^^
Oh trust me Danny, KFC is very, VERY popular and good over here in the US.
KFC here is YUMMY!!!!!! XD just like that first picture you posted there :D I always try to order there chicken bucket. *drool*
Hi all, I love KFC, even though their chicken is enhanced and altered through science lol. @Danny, you said you didn't see a KFC here in the states and asked if we have em...was that a joke? Kentucky Fried Chicken was founded in the USA in 1952 by Colonel Harland Sanders. Obviously in the state of Kentucky. Its usually safe to assume that most of the giant fast food monsters emerged from the states. We're are impatient and overly-materialstic people after all. Interesting fact: Wendy's founder Dave Thomas worked at a number of different KFCs before opening his now world famous Wendy's line. Dave Thomas was also from Ohio, woot!
to me, everythings looks and taste nice with seaweeds coating..=.=!

KFC is popular around here, and it tastes good! However, I've heard that they really abuse their chickens. i.e They give them growth hormones and they grow too fast for their bodies so their legs will break under all that extra weight. www.kentuckyfriendcruelty.com Call me evil but since I haven't seen it personally, I still go every now and then (´・ω・`) Can't resist...
yeah Danny KFC it's really popular around here and it tastes REAL GOOD XD!! yummy!!
KFC is popular around here too, tastes great as well. Personally, I can't get enough of those damn KFC snackers... they're supposed to be snacks or appetizers but they're too good to pass up >_
From the ads, i know why some Japanese thinks that KFC is Japanese company. Most of Japanese KFS ads have traditional aspect in it.
There are TONS of KFC's in my area, but it's pretty common knowledge that they abuse their chickens, so I don't eat their anymore. However, they do taste really good!
It weird how all the food franchise invented in America taste better out of the country. (>..
OMG, that deep fried chicken with spice and seaweed looks delicious! KFC products over here are very tasty, their fried chickens taste even better than the ones from McDonalds and Burger King. Too bad that KFC is a more expensive than it's competitors and that KFCs are only in the big cities. =(
それ、すごくまずそう。。。
I want to try the set meal, looks interesting as it seems to come with miso soup and onigiri?
I LOVE KFC HERE!!! *hearts hearts heart* even though KFC here is a bit expensive but they're trying to lower their price to match of their competitors w/o sacrificing the quality of their product ^^ we always order the bucket meal and if on a budget, we have what we call a chicken steak ^^
Personally I stopped eating the stuff a long time ago in a campaign to better my health, but I will admit the stuff if friggin delicious. It is also a heart attack and although I don't like the way they treat the chickens, yet we have dominion over animals- I am not a big fan of corrupt corporations and their bid to make and worship the almighty dollar. I still eat at Pizza Hut ^^. If Japan has a few then her and I will become VERY good acquaintances. Fast food really is bad for you in excess, and I am cutting it along with soft drinks (Pepsi) from my diet. I have a disease known as hypothyroidism where my metabolism doesn't work properly, so I have to watch exactly what goes down my tube. Fast food and soft drinks, especially for me, will provide more of a barrier to get through as I look towards my target weight.
reading the words "kentucky" sounds a bit dated because the acronym is used as the norm now. those set meals sure look good though!
It's not too bad if you limit yourself to leaner meats, but I guess Boston Market is better for that. Also, KFC fries in NYC are AMAZING. The crisps are a norm now, which is great.
That menu looks kinda good, as KFC here is a grease-fried mess usually. I still probably wouldn't try it, as I hate pulling meat off of a bone, and I can't really take dark meat and fat/skin mixed in. Incidentally, I remember when I was in Japan for the first time, and my host mother made a crock pot full of "beef with edible bones" as they put it, and I was severely grossed out.
To me, KFC is still grease food, but I have to admit they're good only once in a while. I think last year, I read on the news that KFC are going for zero trans fat oils. For a healthier grease food which I say still grease. Ha ! Havent had one since I am in school. We have a competitive in Vancouver towards KFC which is called Church's Chicken. And no, its not a bunch of church people who fried the chickens. Here is a site, www.churchs.com . Its only located in BC, Canada from I believe.
The KFC's here in the Portland metro area are pretty good clean for the most part and they've been opening alot in the area lately but most of them that I've seen lately have become KFC/A&W except one that I know of which is still just a KFC has that been happening all over or just here?
@RenYu I've never seen any locations outside of Greater Vancouver. Is it any good? I haven't tried it. KFC, where I'm at, is not bad, but occasionally there is bad days when it's rather greasy. The burgers are always good though. I love the Spicy Big Crunch. ^_^
