Toys Works rendition of Mika and Manami from the most brilliant Manabi Straight.

The good:
  • Accurate rendition of their anime counterparts.
  • Cast off enabled.
  • Legs look cute.
  • Will look great on the dashboard of my car.
The bad:
  • A bit rough around the edges. The surface of the clothes and hair looks grainy and there are glue marks here n there.
  • Both figures cant be separated or removed from base.
  • Eyes are gloss instead of preferred matt.
Considering the high price of 5,800 yen, the quality comes nowhere close to Kotobukiya, Goodsmile or Alter but if you are after some Manabi figures for your office desk then these should suit you fine.
Pre-order at your fave online retailer. BTW, for those who are still being directed to http://74.53.196.114, keep your bookmarks on dannychoo.com. When your ISP updates its DNS records, you will see the site as normal at dannychoo.com

imo, the best part is the electronic school notepad thingy.
Yes... they rock..
As for the anime, it was rather a let-down near the end for me.

This was a great anime. I actually found it to be inspirational in a way. As for my favorite one, it's a toss up between Mei and Momo

i was never a loli person... i prefer the more buxom mature anime girl/women ^^;

but goddamn, these girls are so cute... saw them on the shelves recently and thought nothing about it. the pics you took really brought out the loli-kawaii factor in them...

i feel a pedobear attack coming on... O.o

So you've chosen the white versions as I can see ^^;
They are not bad, Mika is perfect, but I'm a bit disapointed about Manabi who is my fav character (Yui Horie style hehe). Her hair looks strange to me, compared to the anime design.
Nice duo though. I'm also looking forward GSC Manabi.
And by the way, I have the blue ones :p

This was a figurine I put on my on hold list until I get some reviews. From the pictures it seems like the figurine is not that well done.

Nonetheless, they still look uber kawaii ^_^

Indeed, they still look very kawaii, and they really tried to add small details. Look at the upper lip of the girl on the right, it has this cat-like cut just like in the anime. It seems these kind of lips are getting popular, see Konata Izumi from Lucky Star, hers is even more outspoken.

In the mean time, I'm waiting anxiously for my preordered figure of Suzumiya Haruhi to come out in 5 days (^-^)

Got the white version aswell, was too strange to me to have them with their scholl swimsuits under their uniforms. Cute as hell, altho as you underlined, quality ain't nowhere near the major ones. Still like the boh of them, and as Lu-k said, still expecting the GSC version. Still have to watch the show too...

Looks good. But I don't think that Loli character figures and cast-off feature don't mix at all.

I've seen halve of the show, its alright I guess, the ending was just average =

These figures, 85% good (in my opinion..or just 80%). Weird idea to have a swimsuit under the uniform haha. Not bad but tad weee expensive for some. How tall is the figure? ._.

I can see the grainy details on the hair like you said from the pics. I'm not really much into loli characters so I'll pass on this one.

For those whose ISP's DNS still haven't updated I'd suggest using OpenDNS as their DNS servers. There servers are really good and really fast and rarely goes down.

Eventhough they're cute, they're nothing that I'd buy. I'm not keen of loli stuff either^^

Is the weather in Japan always that great at that time of the year? No clouds at all =O The weather here in Germany goes balistic >.

I liked this anime, but there was never any pantsu shot so these figures are a bit of a surprise lol. They are nice and any Manabi fan would pick it up.

Hmm, not sure if I want these if the workmanship is so-so. I did enjoy the anime. Although that price is on the high side. One thing is for sure, most of the OLs at work would like these two... Should I get them with the white or blue swimsuit... Thinking thinking thinking...

Thanks for the review and nice pictures Danny. Did you add one to the Wallpaper Gallery?

Actually you'd need to register and sign-in to be able to use the adult site filtering. But you don't need to do that to be able to use their DNS server service. ^^ I've been using it since for 3 years now.

I bought this two little amigas and they rock. they are kinda grainy but i prefer the matte style finish. I'm more loli style in my collection so this two fit fine. If your a Kotobukiya or Good Smile fan then you may need to pass them up
